I have to say, whenever I get the urge for great cappuccino, I come here, much better than Starbucks and Sevaya. I hate places that don’t stay consistent, Desert Rain does. He roast his own beans too.
Hey all you coffee joints, ya better start providing what people pay for, don’t take success for granted, or…, it might be fleeting.

I discovered Desert Rain Coffee last year when I was job hunting. A chai tea latte was a wonderful way to start my day. Owner John Hall serves up great lattes and great conversation. I asked John if he knew how to make a London Fog — and he made it for me using Earl Grey tea. Stop in and ask for one — delish : —)
Because I’m not a coffee drinker it’s so nice to go somewhere with tea choices and Desert Rain has six.

John bought his coffee roaster in Italy. He has such a passion for truly good coffee, and it shows! I love this place! I had the pumpkin spice latte today — sorry Starbucks, but yours doesn’t even come close! The latte art was beautiful, it’s just so incredibly creamy, it slides down your throat so easily! He also makes really cool homemade radios, and has them on display!

Desert Rain Coffee Roasters has the best espresso! I like to get a double with a pump of Ghirardelli chocolate and sip on it all morning. So excited that John will be open on Sunday mornings this winter.

We visit a lot of coffee shops, and this one ranks with the very best. John obviously has the experience and expertise to roast, brew, prepare and serve the best specialty coffee drinks in the area. Free wi-​fi is available in the hospital as is a quiet outdoor courtyard where you can enjoy these great treats.

Best cup of coffee since Belgium!!! Hands down a five star Latte. John is friendly and a dedicated roaster. I will continue to travel the 4.8 each way for this espresso. It is as perfect as Ive tasted since 2008. Id pay much more for this sunshine!

Walking into the Oro Valley NW Hospital your first thought isn’t usually of delicious espresso but turn left and there you will find a hidden gem! This is certainly the most unusual location I have had excellent lever press espresso but so be it! John is an amazing batista (/​o?) and his passion for coffee is apparent in every pull. Starbucks this is not! This is a small business comitted to their craft.
His mochas knock me on my feet. He melts actual chocolate (looked like Ghirardelli but I’m not sure) freshly for each cup. It is a decadent treat not just a morning cup of joe. He is all about local and quality ingredients and that certainly comes through in his final product. John is also very interested in getting to know his patrons and will chat with you while he works. I go out of my way to get his coffee at least once a week.

Best coffee ever! John roasts his own coffee beans and makes the smoothest lattes I have ever had– make sure you try him out. Easy access in the fount door of the hospital just to the left.

Hands down the best coffee in all of Tucson!!! I am sure this could and will be argued with but the coffee and espresso is great. John is a wonderfully sweet man, who’s customer service skills give this place a five star rating!

Such an odd location in side the hospital.
John was very friendly and very nice although I disagree with the other Unilocalers. This coffee was very weak. Didn’t knock my socks off.

One of the best espresso’s I’ve ever had-​bar none. I’m very particular about my coffee and roast my own, but Desert Rain beats me hands down. John is passionate about his coffee. Now this sounds wild but Desert Rain is in the Northwest Medical Center and has the best coffee/​espresso you’ve ever had. Check out his Sugar Art – you won’t believe it’s made out of sugar!

Definitely worth a special trip if you are anywhere in the area! John is a very friendly gentleman and a great barista. He does his own roasting even. He’s been in this location now since ~2006.
It is a very small bar just inside the main entrance to the Oro Valley Hospital. Easy parking just outside and places to sit and enjoy inside. No wi-​fi, but there are two public office cubicles right next door to the bar that have wired internet access available. Also, no baked goods.
Be nice to your friends and family who love coffee. Have your surgery done in Oro Valley!

John Hall, the proprietor, makes the best lattees we have tasted in Tucson. If you don’t mind drinking coffee in the lobby of a fine little hospital, give John a try. It’s the best!
