Have had my hair colored here twice first time closer to my «natural color» and blonde streaks and now fuschia and blue awesome job, comfortable salon and great conversation.

Bought a groupon for a hair cut to try to save a little money rather than spending $ 40 where I normally go. It is a clean salon but thats all I can say. As far as their hair services, I was so not impressed. I had asked for long layers thinking it would be pretty hard to screw up. I went home and straightened my hair to see my hair completely hacked off in the back; I have a photo but I don’t know if I can post it on Unilocal.Needless to say, I ended up spending more money because I went to my normal stylist to fix it. Lesson learned; never cut corners when it comes to your appearance.

I used a groupon coupon for coloring, cut, blow out. I had Ruth as my hair stylist. She listen to what I wanted n gave me her input. Walked away a happy camper. The saloon also does nails.

Have been going to Wild Strandz Hair Salon since moving to Ormond in 2007, at the old location and now the new one. Greg is a great hair dresser, a bit rough in the language department, but that doesn’t phase us at all. The new salon location is very nice, they even have massages and full service nails including hydrotherapy. Not sure what the previous reviewer was babbling about, there has never been a Hispanic guy at this salon. The massage therapist is a woman. Greg does a great job and gives a great haircut and always hear people raving about his Brazilian BlowOuts as well as the work he does for parties, weddings and he charges very reasonable for his services.

If you are looking for a super chic fancy Rodeo Drive type of salon, this is not the place for you. However if you, like me, enjoy a very mellow place with friendly people and complete service, you will love Wild Strandz. My mother wanted to get her hair done for her 50th birthday. We saw a Groupon for a variety of different salon services and ended up buying two different ones(both included a shampoo/cut/conditioning/style but my mom’s also included a coloring). The groupon was incredibly reasonable($ 29 for mine, $ 39 for my mom’s). When we called the salon we told them we were only in town for my mother’s birthday and they got us in THESAMEDAY and were able to get us both in at the same time. As soon as we arrived, I was greeted by Derrick who took a few minutes to ask about my hair type and what problems I had with it, what I wanted to do with it and how it normally looked. He really knew what he was talking about and understood where I was coming from with all of my particular concerns(my hair is very curly and very frizzy and can be troublesome sometimes). He shampooed, conditioned and even used some great high end defrizzing serum on my hair that smelled amazing. He was super friendly and told me about all the products he was using that they sell without once trying to force a sale on me or pressuring me to buy something I didn’t need. He listened to exactly what I said when it came to the length and layers I wanted and gave his own input(which turned out to be right on the money!) My hair ended up looking, feeling and smelling great and I couldn’t have been happier with what he did! Meanwhile my mom was with Jill and said Jill was super personable and friendly. My mom didn’t really know exactly what kind of color she wanted but she had some vague ideas(a reddish brown kind of color with a sort of auburn tint but mostly brown etc etc) and Jill managed to figure out the EXACT color my mom was thinking of. My mom and I also decided to get pedicures done while we were there. While I waited for Jill to finish my mom’s hair, Janice gave me a pedicure then my mom got one after me. She was fantastic. The pedicure was so relaxing, the color looked great for both me and my mom and she was just as friendly as Jill and Derrick! My mom is not a big«spa» person because she doesn’t like the snooty atmosphere but she felt totally comfortable at Wild Strandz and since it was her big day, that was super important to me. I’m really really really impressed with the atmosphere of this place. Normally I don’t write reviews but since we’re out of towners and we probably won’t be back to Daytona Beach for a while, I wanted to make sure everyone else knew that this place really is great. We had a lovely time and it was the perfect gift for my mom’s 50th birthday!

A week or so ago I bought two Groupons for Wild Strandz Hair Salon in Ormond Beach, FL at $ 20 each. They were for two massages… one for me, one for my boyfriend. I told the woman on the phone we needed two massages around noon and she said they only had one employee who could do that and if I wanted the other one, I’d have to pay an upcharge of $ 10. She made no mention that the current massage employee was a MAN and the extra one was a WOMAN. I did not really feel comfortable with a guy giving me a massage, and I didn’t find out until I arrived. The guy was older, and barely spoke English, just to give you an idea of what this was like. When I asked him about the two different types of massages that the Groupon advertised, he literally had no idea what I was asking him and he just told me to lay down on the table. There was literally no way to communicate. The staff clearly did not inform this guy what to do for the Groupons. The massage itself was awkward and not that great for even the $ 20 Groupon price. I really felt like I got ripped off. And I felt too bad to complain at the salon because the other employees were really nice and I didn’t want to seem rude, so I’m instead contacting Groupon about it. My boyfriend felt similarly, that we had wasted $ 40 on this mediocre, awkward, and unprofessional experience. While I was there, I also bought a $ 10 eyebrow wax for myself outside of the Groupon because I was in dire need of one and it was hands-down the WORST brow waxing experience of my life! The wax was cold going on my head which was pretty much a warning sign for me. Not that it should be super hot or anything, that can be equally as bad… but everything about this was… off. I told her I wanted my brows really thin. She handed me the mirror after the first waxing and when I looked at my eyebrows, I was pretty shocked. She literally took of NO hair at all. I was confused. I told her I wanted more off the top and she was like«Oh we usually don’t wax the tops here.» WTF? Are you even licensed to do this job? I could do a better, albeit more painful, job on myself at home with a pair of tweezers.(And that’s what I ended up doing later on that day!) I kept telling her to re wax and I had to ask 3 – 4 times and they were still hairy as all get-out. She said«well I thought leaving the hair there would give you character.» No, no, NO, lady! You do what the customer asks you to do!!! I am so glad that brow wax only cost me $ 10 but I really don’t even think it was worth $ 5. Yeah. Like I said, I feel bad complaining because everyone there was super-friendly(except the massage guy, I think he felt just as awkward as we did.) Maybe their haircuts are good but I would never ever return there Groupon or not for a massage or brow wax. Plus it’s a good 35 minute drive just to get there from my condo in Ponce, so I see no reason to return. I will go to the Aveda salon in Dillards or perhaps Fleur de Lis salon at the corner of Dunlawton and Ridgewood instead!
