Our first experience 3 mo’s ago was unbelievable so we we’re given a gift certificate. Thiago the Gm is awesome! This is the 2nd time in 3mo and I just have to say this place is NOT some place we would go again! The hostesses are a bunch of bimbos, they are more concerned about how tight or short the outfits were then knowing how to shuffle the guest! The wait staff can’t describe how a dish was prepared all they can say that it’s good! That’s bullshit ! The managers run around asking how everything is and give a free drink if there is a complaint! The caprisio is blan, the beet salad has 5thin slices of beets that just makes you wonder what are these Chefs thinking! A good chef always taste the food! Thiago, train your staff… Taste the food! Sports on bar screens an old Burt Reyonlds movies as well as a music duo that wonders what image is this place trying to capture! There is only one word that you need to concentrate on and that is SIMPLIFYI! Let your food speak for you! One could overlook all if your food was good! It just Sucks! D&R

Really nice meal. Superb happy hour 5 – 7. Smooth love music. The mussels were outstanding and the burger beat The Whiskey down the street hands down.

One of the best and most classy joints in this town. Great food, amazing service, stiff drinks, and fabulous atmosphere. 10 thumbs up!

Beautiful place, great music, delicious food – standouts were the Pasta Bolognese, the Chicken Milanese, the New York Strip, and the Caprese salad. We had a few minor glitches at the beginning of the evening, but manager Eric and our waiter Alejandro were amazing and resolved all our issues. They surpassed our expectations and we will definitely be back! The live music was great – not sure if it’s only on the weekends or also during the week. Highly recommend for a fun and delicious night out!!!

This place is good. Had the pasta, it was fantastic. Clark was our bartender, he suggested some great whiskies and made a solid old fashioned. Everyone in this place had style.

I have to say, Urbain 40IS beautiful inside, and it’s hard to imagine it used to be Cantina Laredo. The money they spent on this remodel… I can’t imagine. Which is unfortunate, because the interior of the place was the only real highlight of my dinner there. Let’s talk about what I and the rest of my party had: Bacon Scallops. Sounds amazing, right? No. There was hardly any bacon on the bacon scallops. Then there was WAY too much cheese in the French Onion soup, but it had a good taste at least, according to my wife. My other friend had the fish, and it was really dry. For me, the biggest disappointment was the Flat Bread on Gluten Free crust. I was so excited to have the GF option! At first. This Flat Bread was pitiful. Barely any toppings, and COLD by the time it got to me. Actually, the pacing here was the other thing I wanted to mention. It was horrible. I’ve read other reviews on here that were positive, and I just don’t get it. Maybe we had a bad server. Maybe it was an «off» night.(I get it, that can happen. I dine out a lot.). MAYBE, being a local, I will try Urbain 40 again, to give it another shot. But it won’t be anytime soon. I really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately I did not.

From start to finish, this was such a well done, perfectly curated dining experience. The service, the food and the atmosphere each contributed to a perfect meal and drinks on a busy Friday night. The Elderflower Martini is now my new favorite drink in Orlando and the bolognese was perfectly done. Not enough great things to say about this restaurant, a must see on Restaurant Row!

Addition to original review: Editing this review because I went back for a friends party. Food was much better this time, however service wasn’t very good. Couldn’t even get every at the table water, had to ask for a drink menu and beer selection was still poor. Original review: This place is Ok at best, food was ok but with the limited menu(nothing that jumped out as «Ohh, I really want to come back and try that») there’s no reason to give it a second try. The beer selection was poor, cocktails were good but I had to ask for a cocktail menu, they seemed to have a large wine menu that my girlfriend was satisfied with. Nice atmosphere with a live band(piano & bass), along with old movies on a wall(not my style but unique). The oddest thing was the chef that came up and asked how everything was, we responded«good» to which he said«DOYOULOVEIT?» where we felt obliged to say«yup»(we did not love it). If you live in the area it’s worth checking out, but for us who live in downtown/mills area it was a trek for just decent food. We won’t be back, but were glad we tried it.

Oh my goodness. Absolutely loved this place. I came in for lunch on a whim and as soon as I walked in, I felt swept away to a 40s era lounge. The atmosphere is so cool from the palm tree wallpaper to the velvet booths in the lounge are. And then there’s the food. I got the«lunch box» which consists of a half sandwich, a cup of soup, and a small salad for $ 14. I had the smoked turkey and Brie sandwich, which had the perfect amount of Brie without being overpowering. The salad was super fresh and light. For my soup I had a cream of asparagus which was delicious. In most«cream of» soups, you get more cream than whatever it’s of but not here. For dessert I had the lemon cream cannoli served with strawberry and rose sorbet. Superb. From start to finish, it was a great meal and a must see for anyone living in or visiting Orlando.

Very classy and cool 40’s themed ambiance to the restaurant. Had a glass of champagne in their lounge area and listened to some great live music. Then enjoyed a lovely dinner with family in the dining room. Everything was excellent! Mussels, filet, duck trio!!! Our favorite is their take on a caprese salad, delicious! Server took great care of us too. Overall great experience.

Best restaurant in Orlando, hands down! For starters, this place has the most beautiful design. I don’t know who did their interior, but it looks incredible! They offer complimentary valet and the service was superb. Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and offered helpful suggestions. At this point I was already happy, but when my food came out, that put the whole experience over the top. I had the pork shank and the knife I had was useless. It was cooked to perfection and was literally falling off the bone. The mashed potatoes and asparagus matched with it were also just as delicious. I can’t say enough about this place. Everything was AMAZING!!!

Came down from Michigan and spent New Years Eve with Heather and Rick at the bar. The five course meal was incredible. Each course better than the last. The only thing better than the meal was the time we had with the two bartenders. Heather made sure the courses kept coming, she was witty, efficient and funny. Rick regaled us with stories of his youth and also made sure our liquid needs were met. We couldn’t have had a better New Year’s.

Where do I even begin? This place blew me away. My lady and I went to celebrate our anniversary and we couldn’t have made a better choice. The hostess was so nice and we were promptly seated for our reservation. From the second we sat down, we were tended to unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. We had a gentleman come up and greet us and welcomed us to their establishment. Then our server came up to us introduced himself and told us about some of the special items they had. Our drinks were never below half way and the food came out quickly. At one point the general manager, Thiago introduced himself and asked us about our evening. He was very quick to recommend the caprese and we are glad he did. The restaurant looked incredibly busy with staff flying around at what seemed to be a hundred miles an hour. Even still, we received nothing but exceptional attention. Our entrees were amazing. Both dishes looked incredible and had tremendously rich flavors. We couldn’t pick out which of the two were the favorites. It was really nice being able to enjoy individual ingredients in a dish and not just one big mix of flavor. All the while we were enjoying live music by a gentleman in tuxedo and his pianist. It felt like I was in a movie from the 50s. It was like the Rat Pack was singing to us as we ate. It went hand in hand with the beautiful décor and ambience. I cannot even explain how great of an experience that we had and look forward to returning for my birthday in a couple of weeks. It was a true dining experience. I suggest you give it a shot.

Oooooh!!! How dare you??? I am from Alsace in France, the LAND of the Flammenkueche, and you in Orlando USA make a better Flammenkueche than in my home town??? Outrageous! That’s not all. We were 6 guests, and sampled a wide range of dishes that were all fantastic: the oysters, the pâté de campagne, the bread, the filet mignon, … all were absolutely outstanding. This is such a great addition to the Orlando restaurant scene, and filled a real gap. A lot of the dishes are made from scratch in the restaurant I was told, which to me denotes a true love for food. The service was also very attentive. Last but not least, the design of the restaurant was very cool, blending the classic french brasserie style with modern strokes. A masterpiece. I cannot wait to return. A truely great evening. I highly recommend Urbain 40.

The interior of this restaurant is quite stunning, an amalgam of classic French bistro and modern supper club. There’s really nothing else like it in Orlando. The menu offers a selection of mostly traditional French bistro food, with a few more modern items such as flatbreads. We started with French onion soup and a watercress salad. The onion soup was good, but not spectacular, however the salad was excellent, with just the right zing to the vinaigrette, offset by crispy apple slices and some crunchy candied pecans. It was my favorite item of the meal. We had two«hors d’oeuvres” – which were really appetizers – instead of entrees. In keeping with the theme of misnaming things, the«crêpe» was actually a torte comprised of many layers of crêpe interleaved with vegetables. It was good, but not a crêpe. We also had the mussels. Two preparations were on offer, one pan roasted, the other steamed. We opted for the former, and received a HUGE pan full of mussels. They were perfectly cooked and quite tasty, although the shells were coated in salt, which made eating them without ODing on salt a challenge. For dessert we tried the trio, and nice sampling. The highlights were the«cheesecake pops» which were also misnamed, as they contained ice cream and were chocolate coated, so essentially ice cream bars on sticks. These were excellent, and much better than the accompanying truffles and jelly filled macarons. Service was very attentive – almost to a fault. The staff is clearly still trying to find their way(there was a lot of fiddling with lighting levels) but is very well-intentioned, and will get there. A reasonable selection of wines is available by glass or bottle, and there is also an emphasis on 40’s cocktails, really the only way that the 40s theming plays into the experience. Two excellent private dining rooms are available, and the lounge is even a more pleasant space for dinner than the restaurant proper. I’m hoping that Urban does well, as Orlando could really benefit from such a beautiful restaurant.

I barely recognize the former Cantina Laredo footprint in this wholly transformed space. Such an alluring, airy feel, it put me immediately in a chill(er) mood. Wafting, melodic piano, as you enter the lounge. This area reminds me of a friend’s home. A gorgeous bar, but intimately balanced with bookshelves full of vintage tchotchkes, hazy lighting, plush seating, retro portraits and classic movies on screen(fyi — my friend has great taste). We were seated in this area. Took a minute for a server to be assigned, but then we were off to HappyVille. The Elderflower Martini, although a sweeter libation than I’m normally dipping my beak in, was a delightful little vacay that sashayed down easy. The caprese was reconstructed to… awesome! Unstacked, it’s a whole, peeled heirloom tomato, stuffed with barrata, then bathed in red pepper gelee and pesto. I-thought-the caprese-was-everything. That is, until I snapped my first bite of tuna carpaccio. So thin, it practically melted into a love cloud on my tongue(I get emotional about my snacks). I actually stopped mid-convo to worship its offerings. Entertainment that evening was a Dean Martin performer. I definitely will be interested to see what other types of artists they will bring in over time. I was so laid back and completely elated that Urbain 40 hit every mark, I made a rez for the next night, while still at my table. The only reason 4 stars is, even though we had a reservation, it took a while to get our table, then to get a server. so a 4.5 actually =) Kudos, Urbain 40 =)

Beautiful new restaurant in Dr. Phillips. They are already quite busy for a new establishment so be sure to call ahead for a table. We asked to be seated outside last night because the weather was nice but be aware that the spectacular fountain located just outside their patio is quite loud. We still enjoyed the atmosphere and the managers came out multiple times to check on us. Food was outstanding. We started with two orders of muscles and 2 of the tuna carpaccio. Excellent in presentation and quality. So tasty and simple we loved it. Throughout our table for entrees we ordered the tilefish, sea bass, chicken, steak and bolognese. Every entrée was so delicious but I felt my chicken dish was a little behind everyone else’s but still very yummy. Our friend struggled to finish her bolognese so she offered for us all to try it. As we were the manager saw us and stopped by. He offered to bring us more of her dish for the table to try and said we needed bread to accompany it! We all thought he was going to bring a cup of the wonderful homemade bolognese sauce but he ended up bringing an entire full entrée with two baskets of bread. Wow! So generous and this dish has homemade noodles which were amazing! Loved this place we will be back!

I feel like anything I say about this establishment will not do it justice. You must go and see for yourself. This spot was formerly occupied by a Mexican restaurant which lost my business after the first visit. That being said, I was nervous about being haunted by flashbacks while dining at Urbain. So for anyone else who may feel that way, put your fears aside right now. Can I give this restaurant 10 stars please?! They’ve completed gutted the old restaurant and you would never know what used to be behind those walls. Upon entering we were greeted by the manager who sat us in the swanky yet casual lounge area. The booth at our table was plush and felt like a loveseat. Antique knickknacks and aged books adorned the shelves around the tables. It felt like being in Grandmas house but add five stars. Hard to explain so this is why you need to visit for yourself! We were treated very well by our lovely server and her recommendations were fantastic. The prices were very reasonable for the extraordinary quality of food. The cocktails were also spectacular and so was the wine! The dessert was epic. Epic. Epic. Did I say epic? The dessert was epic. I will not be one to go into detail about what we ordered(I may post some pics — well not of the dessert because I ate that too quickly, sorry!) but I truly believe that you could order anything from the menu and it would be incredible. The menu items were unique and unlike anything you could get at any other restaurant. Also everything is fresh! You can sit near the kitchen and observe the hard work or you can sit in the lounge where a large flat screen tv has the kitchen on display so you can still see all the preparation of their glorious meals! There was also live music. Our table was directly next to the band and my initial thought was that our dinner would be ruined because we wouldn’t be able to hear each other over the music. I was so wrong! The music was awesome and not obnoxious — at all. We could hear each other speaking clearly at a normal tone. The atmosphere was so relaxed. Here is the best part — we find out this is only their SECOND day open! Wow! Have you ever seen a restaurant operate this smoothly on their second day?! It felt like they’d been there for ages! I think I may become a regular here. and I’m not a regular anywhere. Urbain stole my heart! You must try them! Again.10 stars!

We totally want to post a picture of our empty plates right now but… Eat the Skillet Mussels. I can promise you will develop an addiction. Eat the Bolognese. Like my Grandma’s but elevated to FINE cuisine. Eat the Scallop Risotto. Perfect balance of savory and sweet. I love this place. There’s 2 sexy Managers: Thiago and Eric. Very personable and guest focused. Thanks for an AMAZING experience!

A complete rehab from floor to ceiling. Cantina Laredo went to the scrapyard enter Urbain 40. This gorgeous Parisian style brassiere ups the ante in restaurant row. With wood paneling and a luxurious tin ceiling, plush leather booths and white tablecloth reminded me of Daniel Boulud Brassiere in Las Vegas. A private room for a more intimate experience with friends and the exclusive Chef’s table right inside the kitchen, Also a piano-bar lounge makes Urbain 40 a contender for best new restaurant for 2015. Surprisingly the menu has moderate prices for the style of service which by the way was outstanding and friendly, truly a breath of fresh air especially in this part of town. The Tuna Carpaccio was a good stater to get the tastebuds in a frenzy with nicoise olives, peppadew peppers, and a Guchujang aioli which gave heat to the dish. The Bay Scallops were sweet and savory with dried cranberries and a pine nut relish mixed in with the creamy butternut squash risotto. I also had a bite of the house-made Parpadelle pasta with slow roasted fork tender bites of luscious beef and pork. Can’t go to Paris it’s ok Urbain 40 it’s now open.
