A Colombian/Venezeulan food truck, The Pelao specializes in a diverse range of South American goodies. Perro Caliente(Colombian style hot dog) Salchipapa(cut chorizos w/french fries) Empanadas Papa Rellena Chorizo(potato balls stuffed w/sausage) Huevo Perico(scrambled eggs with onion/peppers) Morcilla(blood sausage) Chicharron(fried pork rinds) But their cornerstone meal are the stuffed Arepas! Toasted, warm, thick, fluffy corn cakes crammed with your choice of shredded chicken, marinated steak, shrimp, cheese, or a mixture of everything. During my visit, I opted for the Arepa con Todo(chicken, steak, shrimp, cheese mix) and it didn’t disappoint. Placing that warm Arepa in my frothing mouth put me in a state of jubilation. Especially with all the different flavors bursting in every bite. As an added bonus, you can request 2 different sauces with your Arepa. They offer a cool, green cilantro sauce and a mayo/ketchup sauce. I definitely want to come back for a couple more visits to try the Colombian style hot dog(I hear it’s fantastic) and the Salchipapas. Scrumdiddilyumptious! As a mental note. Cash only. The owner doesn’t speak very much English, but as long as you know what you’re going to order, motion«for here» or «to go», then ask for green or red sauce. you’re good to go.
