This used to be a great place for lunch and dinner. Quality gone, gone. I had a terrible experience the last 3 times! Yes, I gave it 2 more times after a bad experience! Poor food quality, tinged brown, old salad… Soggy-gross, yet the Avocado was good! 8 pieces of ok sushi with brown on the edges of the tuna… Not real fresh? A bit slimy. Waiter rude and arrogant. Such an unpleasant meal for 24 $! For 1! I think I won’t be going back again… Food poor, waiter rude rude… not how you want to experience eating RAW fish… With a sarcastic rude waiter serving you food without any respect for the meal you ordered. Sushi was poor looking. I hope I don’t get sick from it.

My roommate was craving sushi for awhile now so I decided to take her here to celebrate her birthday after reading some Unilocal reviews. We came right when it just opened at 6pm so there was only two other people there which was nice because that meant our food would come out fast. Upon entering the restaurant, it had a very clean and modern feel to it. It had a certain ambiance to it. Our waiter greet and seated us right away which was nice. For the appetizer, I decided to go with a miso soup and my RM got the avocado salad. The miso soup was brought out fast BUT it was slightly warm. It was delicious but I would have enjoyed it a lot better if the soup was hot. No complaint on the salad, presentation was very beautiful and there was just enough dressing. For dinner, I ordered the beauty and the beast roll(without tuna), and the mango salmon roll. My RM went with the shin volcano. The rolls were delicious as well, my only complaint is that maybe the mango salon roll could have had some mango on top as well? There was only one or two small pieces of mango in each of the roll. The rolls were fresh and I would order it again. What I really didn’t like was how limited the sauce options were. I would assume that they would have had more choices but they only offered Sriracha, spicy mayo, eel sauce, and gonzo. For dessert, I decided to go with the tempura cheesecake with green tea ice-cream and whip cream. The cheesecake was really over fried and it was super mushy which I did not really enjoy. I understand it’s deep fried but I would’ve expected some part of the cheesecake to be intact. The portion was huge though, good to share between two people. Overall I gave Shin Japanese Cuisine 3⁄5 for the reasons listed above and also because our food did take some time to come out.

Simply put, Shin is a hidden little gem on the sushi trail located in Orlando’s North Quarter… Excellent service, wonderful food and an unpretentious atmosphere offer diners of all ages a wonderful dinner treat. My personal favorite is to sit at the sushi bar itself and watch the skilled chefs assemble your entrée as they engulf you in wonderful conversation at the same time. The mood is always pleasant and groups are just as comfortable as single diners. Parking is easily found in the garage of the building(located just around the corner on Park Lake) and you also have the option of eating on the patio(something that NOOTHER downtown sushi location offers). The prices are fair and the options endless. If I may be as so bold though, you MUST try the Beauty and the Beast roll!!! Enjoy!

This is a super busy restaurant. Which might make you think it was a super excellent restaurant. But it’s not! I showed up right after evening open — about 6:15 pm. There were only a few folks there but the three sushi chefs were busy creating take-out orders. I ordered right away and even ordered a miso soup to cover the gap between order and delivery; never-the-less my soup was done and I was upset that no food was even on the horizon. In the mean time I was observing wait folks trying to make sure the right take-out orders were constructed, including turning back over-orders, etc. My initial sushi order arrived about 40 minutes after I had ordered it — Completely unacceptable! In fact I told my waiter I was walking if I didn’t see food in 5 min. It did arrive and it was OK. But having to threaten a walk out to get served is pretty much an unacceptable level of service.

In my opinion, this is the best sushi in Orlando. The rolls are creative, fresh and delicious. They have a snapper carpaccio that is a must have. The service is great and the staff is wonderful at giving suggestions.

Look like to be on Mars. The kitchen close without that the server inform us. So at the moment to order after the appetizer. .“sorry the kitchen is close“ Now I have to go samewhere else to eat. The last of the year. The worst experience in Orlando.

My sashimi meal for the evening with a side of soup, salad, rice and an order of nigori sake. Waiters are always attentive. Fish always fresh. Whenever I’m in town for the week, my go to spot is Shin!

Visited Orlando to see one of my best friends. She was telling her that this is her to go take out place and wanted us to try it out. 3hrs prior to our flight back to Toronto, we decided after going to Disney world that we would do take out here. After looking at the menu, we decided on a few different rolls. Cajun Salmon Roll, Snow white and the scallop volcano for take out. All really well made. Never tasted something so good and the presentation was just fabulous! Rolls were perfect size and to die for. This is definitely a hidden gem in Orlando. If I was rich, I would just fly back for them! Strongly recommend the rolls! :)

Came here during lunch hours with a large party of 8. They don’t have the space and seating available for large parties so keep that in mind. We all had to sit in a file line at the bar. I ordered the Dynamite Salmon and the Happy Lotus. The Dyamite Salmon is delicious and comes with a crab mix and has a nice smokey flavor to it. The Happy Lotus get it’s name because it has lotus root in the roll. Out of the two, I liked Dynamite the best. I felt that Happy Lotus was too slimy for my liking, could be just preference. I liked how the Sushi Chef saw me struggling with my chopsticks behind the bar and handed me «handicap» chopsticks haha! So definitely ask for these if you can’t get the hang of chopsticks but don’t want to miss out completely on the experience.

Solid sushi. Its super close to my apartment, so that is part of the draw but really, its pretty good. I love the double spicy tuna– add mango. Its simple, yet perfect. Their spicy garlic edamame is addicting and they always have great tunes on their playlist when I decide to dine in instead of take out.

First timer here for my birthday dinner and it was a great experience. Very clean and simple décor with a lot of natural lighting to brighten up the whole restaurant. The staff was very nice and attentive and in the end offered a ice cream surprise on the house for my birthday, very very sweet of them :) Ordered various rolls and nigiri as well as a sashimi appetizers which were all very nicely presented and fresh Except for the uni which I was a bit disappointed about since it is my number 1 favorite. But overall a really nice place to dine in for Japanese cuisine and will definitely return to try out other dishes.

Great spot with awesome lunch choices! Stumbled upon this place trying to find Virgin Olive Market, which sadly is closed down! However, it must’ve been fate because this place was fabulous! They have a variety of sushi specials and kitchen options for the«not so sushi inclined»(aka me). Prices were really good with a two sushi roll combo costing about $ 11 and kitchen fares at around $ 10. I ordered the Spicy Garlic Edamame to start with($ 6) which was delicious. Tossed in garlic, chili flakes, and soy sauce. Would definitely recommend to try! But the show stopper for me was the Teriyaki Chicken. Great size portion, chicken was so moist and flavorful and was topped with incredible teriyaki sauce and served with sticky rice… honestly it was one of the best variations I’ve ever had! If you are in the area and want to try amazing Japanese cuisine, definitely check this place out! It will be one of my new go to spots for sure!

Shin came highly recommended by a couple of friends, but I feel like sushi is so subjective that I rarely take recommendations to heart. Regardless, through a turn of luck, I found myself outside Shin today and thought it was high time I gave it a try. Lunch prices are extremely reasonable. I got two rolls for $ 11, but that came with a shrimp & crab appetizer, miso soup and a salad. Additionally, the rolls were good size, so I felt like the price was spot on! I chose a spicy salmon roll and the kamikaze roll. Neither disappointed. The flavors were spot on, they were rolled just right, the rice was prepared perfectly and the wasabi was the spiciest I’ve had! Pair all this with the spicy garlic edamame and you’ve got a winner! I will definitely be coming back! This just might have taken over my top spot for favorite sushi in Orlando!

Came in on a Friday evening, not very busy. Ordered the following: Salmon nigiri– was good, not the best I’ve ever had but definitely decent. Shumai– it came with an interesting sauce/paste. Definitely add the lemon and it’ll top it off. Beauty and the beast– was good, a nice mixture of items, decent flavor. Give it a shot. Spicy tuna roll– ehhh, pass. Wouldn’t recommend, freshness of fish was there but it lacked something. Scallop volcano– this is a must, nice spicyness and good size. This alone could be a meal. My favorite or of all. Service was good, very attentive, solid 4 stars!

The best sushi you’ll eat in Orlando. It’s a cozy restaurant with the cutest style restrooms. I love the fact that there’s a sink in the inside and outside of the restroom. We started with the spicy garlic edamame. It’s the best I’ve ever had in any restaurant anywhere in the world. Not too spicy but enough kick that makes you want more. I especially loved the slices of sauteed garlic. The miso soup is as authentic as you can get. That’s good as I usually can’t handle miso soup. The Bahamas roll had fresh conch pieces in it as well as tuna and avocado. Just delicious. The chirashi had nice pieces of fish on top of a bed of lettuce. I didn’t even have to chew the octopus. It’s THAT fresh. The kamikaze roll had quite a kick but the Kara mucho had more of a bite and more flavor. Shin sushi is a place you must go if in Orlando and craving sushi.

Having a Japanese mother, I was raised on authentic and traditional Japanese food. I am thankful to have a job that allows constant travel all over the planet — including Japan once every year and a half or so. I use travel to try any and everything possible; the good, the bad, and the ugly — all over the globe. Shin is as good as Japan. Ken was trained in Sushi early on in his life, and he has since been the chef and head chef in numerous locations around our continent and in Japan. Ken and his fellow kitchen staff excel in what they do, their food is a true testament to all things Sushi.
