I will start with the good. My time in the water, and doing actual instruction with Dennis was fantastic. I love diving. What I can’t abide, however, is that Dennis and I have exchanged over 60 emails(he has never once answered or returned a phone call) and I have only completed two days of diving. I have only time to spend underwater to get certified, but I can’t even get a response to try and schedule something. I intended to finish my basic and move on to complete my advanced open water certification, and I still will, but I won’t waste my time trying to get Dennis’ attention anymore.

Wow, where do I start. I want to first echo the reviews I have seen here on Unilocal and on Facebook on this guy. We got a living social deal for Discovery Scuba. I actually talked to him on the phone over a month ago. We exchanged emails and confirmed a date for it. So myself, my daughter in law, my son, and daughter were looking forward to the experience. We were there at our scheduled time of 10am. He didn’t show at all. We talked to the guard at the park where our dive was supposed to take place. She told us he is always late. Other instructors come in in the morning but he shows up really late and sometimes can’t get into the park. I left text, voice, and email messages. That was 2 days ago — I haven’t received a single solitary response. Luckily I can get our money back through living social, but I would stay away from this guy completely. Someone else pointed out that he may not even be certified. I can’t believe this guy can run a business at all being this unprofessional. Another diver went through the course with him only to have his last dive to complete and Scuba Dennis never contacted him again — so he has no certification to show for it and was out the money. Also — don’t make the mistake I made and contact the WRONG scuba Dennis — there is another one, but he is a photographer, that guy is on the up and up. This one says Scuba Dennis Inc on facebook. Anyway — please stay away from this guy at all costs because it will just cost you time and money — use it wisely on a reputable person.

I signed up to take an Open Water Diver course with Dennis(March 2014). It took nearly two months for him to confirm dates for the course. Four other students I had contact with during the course had experienced similar issues. The second day of diving(05÷18÷14) he was over an hour late and scheduled students who were at different points in the training. He was switching between the two groups because he could not teach both at the same time. I had to wait around doing nothing for three hours! He was supposed to call that night to schedule the remaining dates to complete the course. I have not heard back from him since even though I have emailed, called, and left voicemail messages. Dennis is not even the name he regularly uses. His assistant(who isn’t a certified instructor) and the dive shop called him Michael, which is his first name. The listed address is not his business; he does not have a store. He never gave any address. I tried to contact the dive shop where he taught the classroom portion, but the owner said Dennis was just a guy who occasionally rented the extra room. The listed number is a Google voice number. I tried looking up numerous different variations of his name and the«business» name on the PADI website, but I could not confirm he is a certified instructor. He has my money and I have no certification, no proof of what I’ve done so far(he never filled out the paperwork he was supposed to such as the PADI dive logs), and no way to get a hold of him!!! Don’t be swindled by this man!
