LOVELOVELOVE! I got into Lacrosse because of a friend of mine and after one game I was totally hooked. I attended almost every game this last season and can’t wait for the next game. It’s definitely great fun with excellent energy if you’re looking for a fast paced indoor sport. The ticket prices are great and they have deals throughout the season for different reasons ie. family nights. Students get discounted tickets to every game. There’s tons of great giveaways throughout the game. There’s also afterparties after the games for the 21+ crowd that include a free cover/drink(I hope this returns next season!) See ya at a game!

I attended my first lacrosse game of any kind last night. Along with two children and a neighbour, we ventured to Amway Arena to see the two top teams in professional lacrosse battle for home field advantage during the approaching playoffs. None of the people in my party new anything about lacrosse. Based on the low level of fan enthusiasm(and I am guessing that there were no more than 2,500 of us in the by-comparison-cavernous Amway Arena), there were a lot of people in attendance who did not really know much about the sport. That is a pity because the Titans, and their victorious opponents the Washington Stealth, put on a good show. At least I think that they did. The Titans need to do much better community outreach to educate potential fans about lacrosse and its rules if the Titans want to survive here in Orlando. Although there are a lot of kids playing lacrosse now, there are not a lot of adults with great familiarity. I hope that next year the team will publish the rules of lacrosse in the handout that it gives to attendees and that more effort will be made to help potential fans to understand the game(among the fastest growing in the USA). Local businesses also need to rally around the team. Orlando should have more professional sports franchises but they will not be able to succeed if corporate Orlando does not step in. Props to Baker & Hostetler for being a conspicuous sponsor. And sports fans. .. if you want sports to continue in the City Beautiful, buy a ticket to next Friday’s game against Buffalo. Even if you do not understand what is going on on the field, you will be supporting local sports. That, dear friends, is a good thing. Lastly, Titans, here my call for greater community outreach and I am sure you will earn a coveted fourth star for next year, your second season here in Orlando!

So I know absolutely NOTHING about Lacrosse. And yet,… five stars for the Orlando Titans Pro Lacrosse Team from me! Here’s the story: After almost winning the league championship, the New York Titans, a professional indoor lacrosse team, decided to up and move to Orlando to start their 2010 season. At first I was skeptical — how many teams(that aren’t the Magic) have tried to come and garner a corner of the Orlando sports market? Arena football, arena soccer, hockey — you name it, they tried it. But I got tickets to the opening night of the Orlando Titan’s inaugural game at Amyway Arena, and I gotta tell you — I had FUN. Without knowing/understanding the sport, without knowing who the heck the players were(and some looked hot…), and with an open-mind, I had a GREAT time. They played a lot of music to keep us moving, the dancers were cute, the crowd was energized, the announcer rocked it, and the players owned the field — what more could you want?! I had read that this was a full contact sport with the potential for fights, and they weren’t kidding! These guys were not shy, and seriously took(and GAVE) a beating. We ended up winning our first game here(I’m using«our» — I totally am already calling them my own? crazy!), AND there were two fights during the match that we totally owned! It was CRAZY! So I’m reviewing the Titans on Unilocal!because I want them to stick around. I had a great time, tickets are cheap, the game is fun, and it looks like they had a great turnout. I hope they can keep it up and Orlando can embrace a new sport. It really was a lot of action and my friends and I will be back for more.
