I was listening to NPR the other day and they were interviewing this Syrian guy who has a soap factory in Aleppo. Apparently it’s been in the family for generations and they make soap the same way they’ve done for who knows how long. Very famous soap. Anyway, what with all the unrest there, he can’t get to his factory, or they blew it up, or maybe both. Anyway, no more famous soap. Now, I really want some of this soap. The wife’s birthday is coming up, and wouldn’t it be cool to buy some of the same soap(they say) Cleopatra used? But I better hurry, since they’re not making it any more. Google reveals a source– My French Neighbor. I order it, and it arrived in the mail in record time, way before I thought it would. Even had a nice, personal message on the receipt. Sucré!

Great little shop to purchase everything French. They have a nice selection of specialty foods, housewares, décor, and soaps. The soaps are very similar to the ones we purchased at the market in Provence a couple of years ago. Some items are affordable but others are quite pricey. Keep checking back for sales. They had really expensive items marked down upon my last visit. My only wish is that they had slightly longer hours; it is hard to make it to this shop due to my work schedule. I hope they do well here. Baldwin Park has a terrible history with retail.

Super cute, tidy shop! Unique gift and home décor items such as dishes, bath and beauty products, purses, pictures and kitchen items all with cozy French country charm. It’s a feel good place that one would gladly like to spend a lot time with good book. I really hope this place has longevity here – so unique.
