Staying at local Courtyard went for breakfast with wife. Excellent very tasty and big sandwich called Tripleta. The Alcapurria was also tasty and hearty. Coffee excellent; done exactly as requested. Service is friendly. Will go back for their food bar…

If you want to eat real Puerto Rican food whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner this is the spot. We had steak with rice and beans it taste like my mother was back there in the kitchen cooking. Also the staff is super friendly and the atmosphere very welcoming. You have to try it.

This place was overwhelming. Super packed. Long lines. Food was ok. I’ve been to other Melao Bakeries that weren’t as hectic. This one in particular just wasn’t there for me. I’ll make the longer drive to the other location next time.

My wife and I tried here Monday 5÷23÷2016 for dinner. I am a professional chef with 30+ years experience in food service. I was recommended here by 3 of my co-workers that are of Latin nationality. Upon arrival the place was busy but not crazy, a good thing. My wife and I went to the hot food line, the lady attending the line was very friendly. My wife and I first got Arroz con Gondules on our plates followed by some red Beans. My wife then got the Ribs as her meat choice, I got the pulled pork as mine. My wife had some Green Salad, I did not. The friendly attendant took the time to answer any questions we had about the food. We each got a bottle drink, and I ordered 1 Alcapurria to try. We sat down to eat and found our food to have an excellent balance of seasoning and flavor. When I tried the Alcapurria I found it to be a bit bland. I had never tried one before. We found the price for the generous amount of food we got was excellent. We pick up some baked goods to take home, a piece of some type of cake for my wife and 2 cookies for me. The bakery goods also very good. I am very service conscious, and the friendly staff helped make for a wonderful experience. Will definitely recommend and return.

Everything was delicious. No joke. I am puertorican and had THEBESTMOFONGOHERE. I also had their empanadas: beef and chicken. AND yes, the MOFONGO and empanadas — better than my OWN. :) ps. I am a great cook.

We were on vacation in the Orlando area. Disappointed with a different bakery we had visited the day before we were a little hesitant. Until oh my God we tried the food at MELAO!!! Wow, the flavor was explosive! Everything was done exact! MELAO is competition for even the best Puerto Rican abuelita cook. It’s authentic and the best in the area. We visited 2 of their locations in the Orlando area and both were amazing. The location itself is very nice and the staff is very warm and friendly. Great environment for everybody including kids. Your biggest shock of Mealo is going to be the pricing. It was unbelievable how affordable such quality food was priced. Must give it a try. They even have breakfast!

No matter what you are, you will enjoy this food. This reminds me of my grandmothers cooking. It has to much flavor and the serving size is huge, even my dad couldn’t clear the plate. However try not to order anything that has to be cooked because they will take all day. You will be done with your food before you made to order dish is done.

Been hearing about the one in Kissimmee for years. Finally got to visit this one by Florida Mall. Bad location due to heavy traffic and parking was a nightmare. Once you enter it is chaos as you have no idea where to go to order. It was packed and the area too small. Once I asked I was told one side for baked goods, one sandwiches and side to choose meals before you sit. The baked goods are over priced($ 1.85 for a mallorca). Very small selection than I expected. I made an extra line for croquetas and while I waited over 10 minutes they had none. So I go check the food and once again disappointed in the quality and variety. The lechonera is cheaper and much yummier! Will not be returning.

Melao is by far my favorite Puerto Rican restaurant here in Orlando. The carne fritas has amazing flavor. The frijoles are the real deal – red with chunks of meat and batata(no black beans here). They even sell pegao as a side! And the bakery is deliciously wonderful with quesitos, flan, tembleque – and even tembleque-filled donuts! – and so much more! I wish I lived closer and had a bigger stomach.

I love the overall ambiance of Melao Bakery. It really makes me feel like I’m back home in Puerto Rico just because of the service that they provide. They are all very helpful and kind. Their food is pretty good, but its not something that i would go out of my way to go and eat there. The only thing i would probably go out of my way for their flan cake is absolutely delicious I really recommend it.

Oh this place is a gem! I’ve been coming to this restaurant for years! When I first moved to Central Florida 3 years ago, I moved to Kissimmee and lucky me, this place was in walking distance from me. Now that I currently live in Orlando and they opened their 2nd location only 15 minutes away, I’m there quiet often. Where to even start?! From there breakfast to lunch to dinner… everything is just so damn good! Coffee and a breakfast sandwich is a must if you go for breakfast. Their sandwiches are to die for! I get the media noche and my boyfriend likes the tripleta. Both are extremely delicious and very fulfilling. After eating one of these, you’ll be good for the next few hours. And of course, you can’t leave out the Kola champagne. It compliments the sandwich so perfectly. Their sancocho, arroz con gandules, and pernil is also so, so, so good. For all my sweet tooth readers out there, they have a bakery full of pastries and frappes! My favorite is the donut de azucar, or sugar donut. Its so fluffy, soft and sugary. Just perfection. The guava and cheese pastries are delicious too. If you go, make sure to pick up a Nutella frappé. It’s to die for! They have something for everyone, which I definitely like. They are always busy for the most part. Not busy in the sense where you have to wait long for your food, they are actually pretty good in getting your food out in a decent time. Just about every time I’ve gone, the restaurant had been at least half way full. Not only is the food super finger licking good, but the prices make it better. For 2 sandwiches, and 2 drinks, we pay about $ 12. Yes, you read right! For 2BIG sandwiches and 2 drinks… $ 12! This is definitely top 3 favorite restaurants for me! You can never go wrong with some delicious Puerto Rican Food!

I’ll give them at 3.5 stars. It’s a bakery and cafeteria style restaurant serving mostly Puerto Rican dishes. Their set up is somewhat confusing if you are visiting for the first time. There’s one line to order à la carte. Here is where you order your sandwiches, burgers and wraps. Another line is for the hot meals. The cashier is too close to the entrance. When they get busy, the line is all the way to the door, making it uncomfortable to get in and out of the place. Regarding the food, I prefer them for breakfast because the sandwiches are freshly made and they are reasonably priced. I have been here for lunch; sadly they were lacking some flavor in their meals. But, you can’t go wrong with their breakfast items.

Will this little Hispanic bakery restaurant live up to the hype of all the jam packed cars I always see as I’m passing by? I decided to finally try this place today as I am unaccompanied and new my usual partner in dine would not want to wait in a long line. I pulled up and there was plenty of parking on a Sunday morning! You order at the front and then pick up your food when your buzzer goes off. They have breakfast, lunch, and dinner here. They also have an impressive display of deserts that all say eat me now! I resisted that urge and ordered a #3, ham omlet with toast(minus the ham), and coffee & milk. The order took about 10 minutes. The plate it was served on, was a bit strange. Almost as if it’s for a child, where a drink sits inside. Funny… The omlet was in my opinion small and thin. Now, I eat European sized portions so I was ok with that but I did look over at another tables food that had the same food, with the ham, and there was definitely more food on their plate. Overall the food was decent. I enjoyed it all and I’m satisfied! There really is no service at the table. If you need anything extra, you have to get it. Also it seems there is a buffet here for lunch and dinner. The atmosphere inside is comfortable, with booths, chairs/tables, tvs, and warm colors.

Decided to have lunch today, got 2 plates of 2arroz con gandules and 1 with yellow rice. We order the fried pork chop, baked chicken and pernil. The best was the pernil, chicken and last was the fried pork chop. The fried pork chop was somewhat dried, the chicken and pernil were very moist. For dessert we got flan and guayava puff pastry. The entire lunch for 3ppl with dessert and drinks was under $ 23. Thats a bargain, very tasty and well seasoned chicken and pernil. The pork chop should have been made to order, instead it was an item that came from the steam table at the buffet. I wanted the boiled yuca with my meal but unfortunately the yuca did not look fresh. The yuca resembled mashed potatoes, as it had probably being on the buffet too long. We were all very happy with our meals, we also asked for sweet plantains and pulpo salad. The plantains were sweet like honey and cooked to perfection. The pulpo salad was ok, perhaps a little bland for my taste. Having had Spanish food at other places in Orlando, i can attest to good quality, fresh food and great pastries. So much so, i am planning to visit tomorbreakf have breakfast here. Oh yeah and their café con leche is awesome.

Excellent service, loved the cleanliness, staff was super friendly. They have a great menu and the prices, well you can’t beat that! They have a food line and if you don’t want t order from the menu you can make your selection from this line and they have a great variety of food, all fresh, great presentation and everything is delicious! I was simply amazed by the taste of everything I tried(yes I did try a little bit of everything) I just couldn’t resist! Ribs, chicken, white rice and beans, yellow rice with pork, I’m telling you, out of this world! Then we went to get some pastries to bring them back to the office, we had vanilla flan and quesitos these are filled with cheese, absolutely amazing and just the perfect way to finish our meals. I will definitely be back to this place, next time will be to try their breakfast.

This place is clean and welcoming. Honestly the food is fresh and plenty of choices! If you love food with flavor, this is for you. The choices were overwhelming(especially since we live far from any Puerto Rican Restaurant) — we wanted everything! The prices are out of this world ridiculous. Last night we spent over $ 50 on our Latin meal(granted it was also spectacular) but we only spent $ 14 here. We couldn’t leave without stocking up on treats and there daily fresh bread…$ 13 for a ton of stuff including their famous quesito. #foodieanddontcare

It may be loud when you walk in, with long lines and sometimes a wait for seating too but I have to admit that I like it here. Holy cow, try the jugos naturales, they’re SOOO good! Personally I’d stick with the hot foods like mofongo, chicken, pork, etc, their sandwiches don’t seem to be a strong point, they’re just ok. Overall though it’s cheap, flavorful, and I’ll be back!

Hello there my little new Best Friend. My Goodness you can smell the aroma of Spanish food as soon as you walk in, and the aroma is a good one. Spanish Bakery… I am in serious trouble. So here’s the deal you can order buffet style, or you place your order with the three cashiers and they will give you a buzzer thingy, and you wait to be buzzed to pick up your order from the counter. My family and I decided to come here for Breakfast, put it like this a breakfast for four people cost $ 28.00 dollars and it was super tasty. I mean this place is the perfect combination of cheap and great food. I opted for Breakfast Over Medium, Eggs, Ham, Pancakes, Toasted Bread, and a side order of Oatmeal. I had the Puerto Rican version of Horchata that was unbelievably delightful. I could not help but stare are the delicious selection of desserts which included Flan Cheesecake, Bread Pudding, and Guava Cheesecake. The buffet options included anywhere from delicious seasoned chicken, pork, and rice. I honestly wanted to eat everything in sight. This particular establishment has two locations and people love this place because it is jam packed and for good reason. This is definitely a place as soon as you walk in you know you are about to delve into an excellent adventure of spanish food. It does not get better then this. My new favorite.

A new spanish bakery/restaurant next to the office? Heck yeah I want to check it out. The restaurant is actually an old Perkins remodeled. Quite nice inside, and decent amount of room for guests. The employees were all rather cheerful and excited, of course that could be because they just recently opened, but if they keep it up, coming here will be very pleasurable. Now, the food. When you first walk in you have a choice to make. The lunch line or the bakery line. The lunch line takes you to a counter of prepared food that you pick and choose from to create your meal. There were quite a few choices, which is good. It was also inexpensive. $ 4.99 gets you white rice, beans, and a meat of your choice. Add-ons are available for $ 1. The bakery line takes you to cases full of delicious looking pastries. Didn’t try them this time, but next time for sure. This is also the line if you would like to order something specific from their menu. Lots of variety available. All in all it was a great experience and I look forward to going again.
