I wish zero stars were an option. If you want to get ripped off, call these guys.
They did a routine septic pump out at my place a couple months ago, but only from the back of the tank since they did not want to deal with some tree roots on the front. I started having backing up issues in the house for the first time ever a few weeks later, and the owner Jeff came out and said my 11 year old drain field was shot (you can general expect 20 – 30 years on one), and I needed to spend $ 4300 to replace it. Thankfully, sticker shock led me to get a second opinion.
Enter honest and reputable Company B. They said that the tank levels into the drain field looked appropriate and were puzzled why the front of the tank was not opened by Mathis at the first visit. Yes there were some roots there to dig through, but company B says this happens and you just need to dig through them. So I call Mathis back out to open the front side, which they did, and they discovered there were a lot of tree roots creeping into the tank which caused the back up into the house. They pull a few roots out, and then say it is too big a job, and they need $ 1600 to dig out the top of the tank, open it and remove all the roots. Again this number seems over the top.
So I called Company B to come back out the same day. They charge me $ 180 to clear out all the roots and it takes roughly 30 minutes. Mathis & Sons could have just done this easily (and they charged me $ 125 just to dig up the front opening).
So to recap, they did not complete the initial job properly, tried to get me to spend $ 4300 on a system I do not need AND would not have even fixed my issue. Then they offered again to grossly overcharge for a root removal service.
Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. These guys are shady and do not deserve your honest business.

Mathis and Sons were very professional, honest, and quick. We needed considerable work done in our yard, and they quoted us a price that was more than fair. They did quality work and left the job site clean and in great working order. Great communication and friendly service over the phone and in person. We had many questions throughout the process and they were very available to help us with anything we asked. We would hire them again in the future and recommend that you call them if you need any septic/​plumbing work done in your home or business.
