I owed Lac Viet Bistro one BIG(or maybe many) review since this is our family favorit restaurant for many many years and we feel so comfortable with it much that we forgot to review this restaurant This is the upscale vietnamese restaurant with a very reasonable price — actually the prices in Lac Viet Bistro are lower compared to many vietnamese restaurant in same area The services are attentive and professional And the foods are exelence compared to other Vietnamese in Orlando and even in orher states I will be back to update my review about everythings in this restaurant later but at this moment let give this winner five stars first for being our family favorit restaurant in so many years Thank you Lac Viet Bistro

Ate here twice in a row on our vacation. Their vermicelli is out of this world! Tom yum is amazing. Will definitely eat here again on our next vacation!

Phở is the perfect hangover food. I felt the restorative powers of the phở lac and banh beo about halfway through my meal. By the end of the meal, I was ready for another whiskey Coke. Interesting note: you can order your phở in different sizes and with two or three meat choices. Of course I went with the flank, tendon, and meatballs. Also, when requesting no cilantro, make sure they know you still want white and green onions(they brought my phở with no vegetables originally). I would say this place is better than most phở joints in Orlando and very reasonably priced. So, come here for your first meal the next time you need a Bloody Mary in the morning.

The place is not bad and has really nice paintings. They greet you nicely at the door. I went with my boyfriend’s family and his parents’ friends. I read the reviews here before and most of them were eh about this place. And they were right about this place. I told them to not come here and eat(they’re not from Orlando) but they didn’t listen and walked here. We parked at Loving Hut side cuz we thought they were open(it was a holiday) but they were not. They went whatever and walked here. My boyfriend and I ordered phở, his sister ordered a small tom yum soup, and everyone else ordered stir fry fried tofu, and two other veggie dishes. The stir fry tofu is actually good. I didn’t try the other two dishes so I can’t say. The phở and tom yum soup had too much msg. Their regular size is actually little bit smaller than other restaurants’ regular size. No wonder it’s a bit cheaper. I wouldn’t come here for phở, there are better places for phở. Don’t waste much money here. Trust me.

This is probably my favorite restaurant, anywhere. I’ve got family in Orlando and found this one Thanksgiving, as a vegetarian I’m always starving after the family meal with no where to go! Now I come to Lac Viet every time I’m in town and look forward to my own Thanksgiving tradition. I had to miss it this past year and I’m about to make a special trip in a few weeks mostly just for the food! I swear they’ve got the freshest vegetables I’ve ever had when eating out.

As one of the restaurants that have withstood the test of time, we still visit Lac Viet regularly ever since I first visited this place way back in ’06. One of the things I’ve always loved about this place is the ambiance and the atmosphere of the restaurant, from the fountain by the entrance to the subtle lighting used throughout the restaurant. The restaurant is in a building that is sort of broken up into rooms, which gives it a cozier feeling once you’re seated inside. Traditional decorations featured throughout gives it an authentic feel. They’ve got tables fit for groups of all sizes, and most of their tables are rigged for hotpot if you choose to order that. The menu here is pretty comprehensive, including your standard phở options as well as other noodle soup options like Bun Bo Hue. I’m a fan of their Banh Xeo, which is like a savory Vietnamese crêpe made with rice flour, egg, bean sprouts, shrimp, fatty pork, and green onions. It’s served with big pieces of leafy lettuce, which can be used to wrap up pieces of the crêpe to dip in the fish sauce, which they make very well. When I’m not feeling the fried-ness of the Banh Xeo, I’ll go for their Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio, or vermicelli noodles with grilled pork and eggroll, which they do pretty well. We typically get the spring rolls(goi cuon), which comes in an order of 2 rolls with very yummy peanut sauce, and the steamed rice cakes(banh beo), which comes on 5 little individual saucers alongside a bowl of fish sauce, as appetizers. Would definitely recommend these as starters. Typically, the service here is pretty good, they’re very quick and attentive and though some of the servers may not be the most fluent in English they always figure out what it is you are trying to say. We came here on Christmas day this time and the parking lot was packed beyond I had ever seen, and they seemed a little overwhelmed. My parents ordered the phở with soft tendon and tofu, and the phở with steak, soft tendon, and meatball. They later said that it seemed a little sparse on the amount of meat in their phở compared to what Lac Viet normally serves up. My brother ordered the broken rice with pork spare rib, and I ordered the vermicelli with grilled pork and eggroll. Both were great and up to their usual standards. We were here the previous Christmas and they were not nearly as busy, so it seems like they may have underestimated the volume of patrons that would be visiting this Christmas. All in all, I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for a nice Vietnamese restaurant to take guests to as it is much nicer inside than most of the other Vietnamese restaurants nearby. Their food is great, menu is extensive and service is usually excellent as well. I’ll definitely be back.

We stopped by here after seeing the good reviews it had. It was disappointing to say the least. We had the fried grouper, the Chinese spinach(rau muong xao toi), the Singapore noodles, and the chicken vermicelli. Service was not very good or attentive. The waiter brought out the food but forgot everything else. No utensils, no bowls, no plates, no condiments, no napkins. We were left staring at the food getting cold, and had to flag down numerous wait staff to complete our order. The food is mediocre, with too much sugar for my taste. I am Vietnamese and this is not Vietnamese food. It’s more like Malay than Vietnamese. I also eat Malaysian food, and this is not it either, somewhere in between. In any case, the mark of a good Asian restaurant is the rice it serves. This one is too dry.

Decent phở, but I’ve definitely had better. The service is very poor. Definitely not somewhere to go if you are in a hurry. The waiter«Hugh or Hughes»(whatever it is) definitely takes his time to even simply bring some waters to the table.

Ordered the seafood and chicken phở. Both had very oily broths and there was only two pieces or shrimp and squid in my seafood phở. The soup itself was lacking in flavor and left an unpleasant oily after taste. I think this is the worst phở I’ve had in orlando as of yet.

So good! Great food and even better service. Out of all the places around here to get phở, this is one of my favorites. Can’t wait to come back.

We had a great meal here, made all the more memorable because the night before we ate at Morimoto Asia. The food a Lac Viet was substantially better, and one third the price. The interior of the restaurant – which I remember from decades ago, when it was Le Cordon Bleu – is bright and open, divided in to many intimate rooms. We started with the Tom Yum, which had a thinner and less tomato-based broth than the Thai version I’m used to, but despite it’s clarity, it was the most flavorful Tom Yum I’ve ever tasted, with just the right spice level. The seafood crêpe was also good, although not quite what I was expecting. Fried to a crispy gold, it looked more like a giant taco, filled with bean sprouts, shrimp and other goodies. This is a giant appetizer, so plan ahead. The Vermicelli bowl is always my favorite at Vietnamese restaurants, and this was no exception, the combination of charred pork, cucumber, sprouts, vermicelli, and greens was delicious, especially with some added fish sauce, hoisin and Sriracha. The other entrée we tried was a massive assortment of pork, beef and chicken. The pork and chicken had each been sautéed with different sauces and vegetables, and were absolutely delicious. This one dish is plenty for sharing, but we were happy to have lots of all three preparations to take home for later. This dish really emphasized the light touch of Lac Viet, because it was similar to Chinese stir fry, and yet there was none of the heavy oiliness that turns me off of Chinese food. Really great stuff. There is a small but well thought out list of wines and beers. Service is attentive and helpful. There are quite a few good Vietnamese restaurants in Orlando, particularly in the Mills 50 area, but Lac Viet is the best I’ve been to anywhere.

My husband and I actually came here twice during our 5 day trip in Orlando — that should say a lot about this place. Lac Viet is one or the more up scale place for Vietnamese food, it is nicely decorated with gorgeous paintings of women in Ao dài and Vietnamese instruments. It is very spacious with both indoor and outdoor seating. First time we came was in early morning — around 10am-the place was empty, so we got seated right away. I got banh canh hai san(seafood udon) and durian smoothie; both of them were amazing. The smoothie was very rich, smooth, and fresh. It got just the perfect amount of sweetness, which rarely happens in most places. Banh canh was delicious too, the broth was clear yet flavorful and complemented noodles, seafood and veggies perfectly. My husband got bun Thai(Thai vermicelli soup) and he loved it too. Second time around, we came back from the beach and craved for hot pot, so we ordered goat hot pot. The large size was too much for two people, there was a lot of meat. It was very delicious, my mouth is watering right now lol

The Phở and Bun Bo Hue were a little disappointing but the Banh Beo, Shrimp/cucumber salad, Mango salad, fried spring rolls were all very good. They have a massive menu with lots of items I haven’t seen outside of my trip to Vietnam(like bun cha, vietnamese hot pot). Has to be one of the most decorated Phở joints I’ve ever been in as they are usually sparse on decoration. Service was good but not overbearing. Try their vietnamese lemonade, it sour and salty.

Wow. This place was sad. We stopped by here before catching a flight out. I cannot believe how sub-par this place is! I feel sorry for anyone living in the area. I wanted a variety of choices and I certainly got that. However the food took forever to get to our table. Usually Vietnamese places serve so much faster. When we got it, it was so bland and unimpressed. At least the next time I’m in the area, I know not to come back here.

I would first like to say the phở is much better at phở 88 then here any day of the week. But the plus side is that they have many dishes pho88 don’t have and they are awesome!!! Décor feels like an older place but clean with lots of Vietnamese décor… People I have taken there say it reminds them of a few restaurants they have visited in Vietnam… They get a three star cause their service really isn’t up to par… Takes for ever to get an order in and if you need something you got to flag them down even for the bill and drink refills which seem a pain… They also never come back to tell you how the food is. As for the food… I wasn’t impressed by their phở what so ever… But their pork intestine congee and chicken congee is the best I have had in Orlando so far. They also do these dishes that bring various meats that you can make your own rolls with rice paper that you must place in water first with fresh herbs and lettuces and it’s very very good. I prefer the woven noodles for this dish and suggest you do the same its included. I had an amazing rice cake and omelet dish in a sweet brown sauce that is in the staters menu that was to die for… I would go back anytime when not rushed just to try the other dishes and re order the ones I mentioned.

This place was smaller than I thought. The phở broth was really good but they held back on a lot of the portions. I ordered a large but it looked just like the regular that my sister got except in a bigger bowl. I liked their food but I am a big fan of the phở places in Tampa more just because they don’t hold back on portions. My family and I overall enjoyed this place. Parking is a bit off and you have to be careful if you park in front of the restaurant because of the big drop off. I might come back.

Impeccable service. The service is so impeccable I seriously thought dude would pull out his crumb sweeper even though it’s not that type of a restaurant. Super impressive. The food portion sizes are super generous, and tasty. Everything seemed really fresh and everyone at our table was happy with their meals. The server was very educated about my vegetarian wishes, and gave me some really great options. Please understand, when visiting some restaurants, the knowledge level of vegetarianism can be very very disappointing. It is such a relief to find people that understand vegetarian cuisine. I would return to this lovely place without a second thought.

Typically go to other viet restaurants but my friends and I were feeling adventurous so we decided to come here instead. Service was good, prices in par with the other local viet restaurants and they accept credit cards. My friends both ordered phở and I ordered the bun rieu. We all enjoyed our food. I know some of the other viet restaurants around colonial don’t offer bun rieu so restaurants that do automatically get noted in my book since it’s one of my fave viet dishes when I want something other than phở. They also have hotpot here which is interesting. I wouldn’t think that a viet restaurant would have hotpot so that was surprising. Not sure if I would ever come here for hotpot but if you’re down, at least they have the option. Overall, your typical viet restaurant on colonial.
