Closed? Say it ain’t so!
I was there just a month ago! And it was awesome! EPH has delicious breakfast that feels like your mom made it. The location is quiet and the décor is very warm. There were so many menu items it was hard to choose. Luckily I was with my sisters so we all snagged a bite of each other’s plate. I went with the breakfast croissant with home fries and it hit the spot! Not only was it full of flavor but it was nicely portioned. Our waitress was so sweet as to provide us with a heap of biscuits so we wouldn’t have to pay for extra ala carte. I really hope the disclaimer isn’t true, I wanted to plan a brunch here :(

New name, same food, same location. Elliott’s is the latest incarnation of an Ivanhoe Drive favorite that has been pleasing mouths for years.
I stopped in for a late lunch a few days ago and was a little disappointed with the level of service. Sure, I was there at an off time, but I felt so much pain for the young obvious cook-​doubling-​as waiter, who obviously was either just being taught FOH or was pulled to fill in. I know I was there at an off peak time, but either have at least one capable server, or don’t be open or if this young man truly was in training, he should have had a trainer with him at all times through the process.
As far as food goes, I don’t know how you can go wrong with anything you order here. Hands down, the fried chicken sandwich is one of the best pieces of chicken you will ever eat. Period. The best part is, with their portions, you may get to eat it twice! Finishing one of their meals In one sitting is a feat not for the weak of heart. Then again, with all of the deep fried and buttery deliciousness… nothing at this place is for the faint of heart!

Okay so know this about me… I LOVE BREAKFAST! No matter what time of day I have my first meal, I ALWAYS prefer for it to be breakfast. On Saturday, my sisters and I got a late start and were searching for somewhere to have breakfast/​brunch. Unfortunately, all the places we were finding and considering close or stop serving breakfast at 2pm. Just as I began thinking my breakfast dreams were not going to come true, one of my sister found this amazing little restaurant (on Unilocal of course) that serves breakfast until 3pm!!! So we hightailed it over and was pleasantly pleased with our choice.
Elliot’s Public House is a small quaint restaurant located on Orange Ave across from Lake Ivanhoe. If you’re not looking for it, you could easily pass it which I have obviously doing for a while… but not anymore! We walked up to the restaurant and there was a covered patio area for those who like dining al fresco. Due to the weather that day we chose to eat inside. The place was empty upon our arrival so we chose our booth and had a seat. The only downfall was that it smelled as they had mopped with dirty mop water, but it wasn’t enough to be a deterrent from staying. The room was split in half, one side sectioned off to accommodate large parties, and the other for smaller groups like ours.
Our waitress came over in seconds asking for drink orders and brought them out promptly. She was very friendly. She was also very knowledgeable about the menu items and offered some great recommendations of things to eat. I decided on the corned beef hash and eggs. The hash was homemade and extremely flavorful and not too greasy like you find at some places. I ordered my eggs scrambled hard, which was exactly what I received. I was very pleased with this because I normally have to send my eggs back to be cooked longer, so WAY TO GO GUYS! Breakfast potatoes were also served with my meal and they were seasoned perfectly. The food just tasted like it was cooked with love which was great! One of my sisters ordered the croissant sandwich which I tasted and it was phenomenal and my other sister had the country fried chicken and eggs which I also tasted and it was fantastic as well. Two of our meals came with biscuits and our waitress was kind enough to give us enough for everyone which we appreciated.
If you can’t already guess I absolutely enjoyed my experience here and I will definitely be back!

I dig it. Went on a weekend for brunch and sat outside. I got the mushroom omelette with potatoes and it was AWESOME. My date got the black and bleu burger and it really wasn’t much to write home about, though the fries were good.
I have a thing with breakfast potatoes at breakfast joints and diners… if they aren’t any good, I will not frequent the place. Juniors get’s em wrong, that lame chain First Watch gets em wrong, but to me, this place gets them RIGHT [along with Maitland Breakfast Club, my normal go-​to breakfast joint). I’m surprised that everyone is dissing them, but different strokes for different folks, I guess. I thought they were flavorful and not just a mushy mess of bland soggy starch or frozen-​fried cubes that were made to look like they weren’t made in a factory, but you freakin know they were! IMPOSTOR POTATOES — not at this place!
I like that this place has outdoor seating, that is ALWAYS a bonus. I think they made it a lot cuter than when it was Brian’s and they serve mimosas which is cool, I guess [there was a loud group of people drinking them outside, I was so happy when they got their food and had to shut up and eat because they were annoyingly yell-​talking — can’t blame em for having fun, though it does get loud out there].
Service was decent, not amazing, not neglectful.
I would skip the burger, but I would go back for the omelette.

Glad they kept a lot of the breakfast faves from Brian’s, and augmented that with a varied dinner menu.
The small plates are not really small at all, and are half price during happy hour (till 7).
Faves: Fish-​n-​chips, Portuguese clam pot, tomato bisque, curried lamb meatballs, watercress salad with stilton & candied walnuts.

Their breakfast is great. Everything I have ordered has really good flavor and the food is consistent. I have ordered their omelets the most. $ 8.5 for a filling meal

I popped in here for dinner over a weekend with friends and our table of 4 enjoyed the burger and the fish and chips. The fish was a generous portion of fresh FL grouper. The fries were tasty and the burger was cooked to the perfect temperature. We ended with a «Brian’s» famous sweet roll for dessert, which was awesome. The happy hour deals here were available on the weekend, and had a nice selection beers on special. You cannot beat the patio view of Lake Ivanhoe (especially at sunset) and the patio has plenty of fans to keep the air moving on a warmer day.
I popped in a few days later for a breakfast meeting and our group enjoyed the «Brian’s» famous sweet roll and a tasty breakfast. Everything was great, the omelette with the mushrooms was delish, the Eggs Benedict was good. The hash browns were very good, the server recommended we order them «Extra Crispy», which we did.
Nice prices for the portions on everything we ordered. Services was very friendly & attentive on both visits, we’ll be back!

Seeing some good reviews on here I was pretty excited to try Elliot’s. I’ve found some great restaurants in the Orlando area because of Unilocal so my boyfriend and I figured, why not?
At first glance, Elliot’s has a nice aesthetic. There’s cool artwork hanging all over the walls and I especially loved the earthy chandeliers hanging in one the rooms off o the side. This part of my visit is mostly why I’m giving this place any amount of stars, however.
When it came to the food (really the most important part) I was really unimpressed. I ordered the English muffin breakfast sandwich and my boyfriend ordered the pumpkin pancakes. We both also got home fries. Neither one of us felt that the food was anything to write home about. It was pretty bland and really isn’t worth the money (seeing as their prices are slightly higher than most).
I really wouldn’t recommend this place to be honest. There are much better options nearby that are not as expensive. Elliot’s leaves something to be desired.

I had a great first experience at this restaurant. While «public house» is a bit of a misnomer (when I hear public house, I think tavern or sports bar and this is not it), the restaurant is in a great location, is cozy and has lovely outdoor seating.
Our service was a little slow but very friendly and enthusiastic. I ordered the shrimp large plate and the tomato, red pepper bisque appetizer. Both were delicious choices! The server revealed that all the desserts are made in-​house so I opted for her suggestion of the almond cake. It was a wonderful choice, very sweet, decadent and had a neat combination of berries. A perfect autumn dessert! I would love to try more of the menu based on what I had.
I was really surprised that the kitchen sounded like it was in the middle of prep service. A blender was on for our ENTIRE dining experience and the acoustics are awful inside the restaurant so it was echoing loudly throughout the restaurant and made it difficult to talk. The kitchen also seems to be physically separated into two parts so cooks were constantly going in and out of the doors which felt distracting. Maybe Thursday isn’t a heavy traffic day for them so I hope they don’t actually do all that during, say, weekend service.
Overall, a great meal but be wary of sitting inside!

A super quaint location, with amazing breakfast options. Helpful staff, and nice outdoor patio. Never thought to pair potato pancakes with salmon, however they have it on the menu and it is delish!
Also, you just have to order the sweet buns :) Enjoy!

I judge a restaurant that sets out to serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner by the quality of its breakfast. If you can’t do something as simple as cook a good breakfast, how can I trust you to make a lunch and dinner worth eating?
When I order breakfast anywhere, I order the two-​egg option. This option comes with bacon, a bread of choice, and potatoes (hash browns or home fries). The eggs were at least cooked. The toast was meh. The home fries committed the sin of not being cooked all the way through and bland.
The positive though was that I didn’t get sick later, so they at least practice food safety. Since it didn’t kill me, I can at least give this place two stars.
In short, there are better breakfast places down the street on Orange or up the street off of Virginia. This is a good place to eat breakfast only if you are desperate.

Service was good.
Grits were cold first thing in the morning. Biscuit was cold.
Egg white omelet with mushrooms and spinach was fine. The mushrooms and spinach were delicious and the eggs okay.
Hot tea isn’t a great choice. My server kept adding hot water as I was drinking it. It’s not coffee. That just waters it down. I asked for another tea bag.

Ivanhoe Village may be known for it’s many antique stores and quaint businesses, but a new neighbor has moved in. Well not so new. Brian’s Restaurant was the long standing keeper of where the newly opened Elliot’s Public House now occupies. The Orlando Sentinel Newspaper carried an article which stated that the former Executive Chef of Rollins College bought Brian’s Restaurant and will be the new keeper of this neighborhood space.
Recently in Orlando, the new buzz words in restaurant names are Gastro Pubs and Public Houses. But these names or references are not new. These are old English terms which depicted establishments in the olé country. Granted, the new generation of restaurateurs are actually trying to build a business around the concepts after their names. Most of these businesses seem to be doing well. If there is anyone out there who thinks that a Gastro Pub or Public House should be an exact replica of Great Britain, then so be it. As evolution would have it, everything old is new and everything new is old. Where that lies, Elliott’s Public House takes a bold step catering to this neighborhood.
The current restaurant space is two interior rooms and an outdoor patio. The patio faces busy North Orange Ave. Some may be bothered by this, but look across the road to beautiful Lake Ivanhoe and watch kayakers slide across pristine waters. Or enjoy the energy movement brings. There is a fantastic wine bottle wall art on the patio that immediately starts a conversation. Both interior rooms are well appointed with nostalgic art. The ornate lighting sets the mood and almost brings the space to another era, if that is possible with light. Soft modern colors warms and wraps the space as a good neighbor would. There is a work permit on the outside wall facing the parking lot, which suggest more expansion. Could an actual bar be in the making?
Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served here. The menu hints of European in keeping with the Public House nod. Portions are ample and enough to share or gobble down alone. Having to serve three meals, of course, there are items available for dinner only. There is even a Happy Hour from 3pm –7pm daily. I’d venture to say that drop in anytime there is something that will quench your beak. Full food reviews are on my blog
Apart from little service glitches, this was a wonderful meal. As in every new place there will be misteps. That’s expected. How they make adjustments in the future will be the true test. Nothing to go crazy about, just a little polishing. Parking in the little lot is tricky. Not a lot of room to maneuver. Business around Ivanhoe Village and Mills 50 seems on a rise. With construction at Mills Park on Mills Ave in full swing, there is a big boom in development. I can’t wait to see what else is going to paint the dining scene in this area. All the sages left full and happy.

Cute neighborhood spot with a great lake view! They are still in the process of converting to their new ‘look’ and I hear there are future plans of a bar and more outside patio space! Woo Hoo!
The food is tasty. I’ve had the burger, which was delish! and recently tried the watercress and endive salad (whoa so good!) We were told for $ 1 more we could have the ‘larger beer’ and boy was it. Incredible deal on such a giant mug of brew.
I work in the area and this will definitely be my go to spot for lunch and after work drinks and nosh!

Dog friendly spot with a covered outdoor patio. Great view and atmosphere. Half off burgers on tuesdays. I ordered the Spanish omelet but the gentleman next to me ordered the public house burger which will be on my list to try next. The omelet was delicious and the service is fantastic. They serve breakfast till 3 and have a pretty awesome happy hour.

Not bad. We went with friends for brunch and appreciated the cooling mist on the outdoor patio while people-​watching over Lake Ivanhoe. I ordered traditional breakfast (bacon, eggs, grits, English muffin) which was a solid offering. My husband ordered the black and blue burger — also respectable, though the bacon on his burger was better (applewood?) than what was served standalone on my breakfast plate.
At the end of the meal, they delivered the check and attempted to clear his fries while we were still eating them (and it was not at all crowded) but redeemed that faux pas by bringing the four of us a tasty root beer float to share once they realized we were planning to hang out for a little while and talk. Will go back to try some of the other menu items and see if this is a solid 3 or if some of the more interesting dishes can get my rating up to 4 stars.

When one thinks of a «Public House» one probably wouldn’t think of Elliott’s Public House. A Public House is, «A place, such as a tavern or bar, that is licensed to sell alcoholic beverages.» Yes, Elliott’s Public House did serve alcoholic beverages, but there wasn’t even a bar in the restaurant. So if you are looking for a pub, tavern, or bar type atmosphere, I think you might be a little disappointed with Elliott’s.
However, that doesn’t mean the atmosphere is bad. It is a nicely decorated and rather cozy. Definitely doesn’t just look like just a brunch place anymore. The menu has expanded to serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My date and I stopped in around 6:30 on a Saturday evening. We were pretty surprised at how empty the place was for a Saturday evening. We were quickly seated and ordered a beer off their craft beer menu. Nothing too impressive here, but it was refreshing seeing them offer something else besides your normal domestics.
My date is a strict vegetarian and I am a pescetarian. He ordered their roasted red pepper soup and their caprese salad. The soup was very good. It was thick, creamy, and flavorful. The salad needed a little bit of work. It was rather expensive and really not an edible «salad.» They used mostly radicchio lettuce, which made it too bitter to eat. I went with the vegetarian platter. It came with hummus, baba ganoush, olives, feta cheese, and pita bread. Everything tasted pretty average. Nothing stood out flavor wise. Make sure you order extra pita bread because they only give you one small square.
Our experience here wasn’t bad and the service was good. I know it is a new menu and there are probably kinks to work out. I would be willing to try them out again in the future.

The food here was absolutely amazing. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first walked in, but then when I was told that the chef was CIA trained I knew it had to be good.
I had the Reuben, Shrimp, and Chocolate Mousse for dessert. The Reuben was one of the better NY Deli sandwiches I’ve had in Central Florida, and the Shrimp was amazing. I’m not sure what the sauce was made of, but it tasted great with some bread dipped in it.
The final icing on the cake was the Mousse, it was chocolaty and fluffy just how I like it. I’m looking forward to bringing some of my friends during their Saturday happy hour when they come into town. Nothing better then cheap booze and good food on Lake Ivanhoe.

I had the breakfast croissant with avocado & home fries. It was amazing! The homemade croissant was just the right mix of soft and crisp. The view of Lake Ivanhoe is very nice on the outside deck. There are misting fans so it is not hot.

I love that there is another option for dining — breakfast, lunch, and dinner — in Ivanhoe Village. I had the Grilled Hanger Steak which was grilled to perfection. I have also had the Oxtail & Barley soup twice now — delicious and I highly recommend it. Our server was friendly and attentive.
Elliott’s is a welcome addition to this neighborhood, waking up the corner of Virginia Dr. and N. Orange Ave. and giving people yet another location to enjoy the sunset over Lake Ivanhoe.
