Truly an honest company! I would strongly suggest A-1 for your HVAC service. Keith was the tech who responded to my home and knew exactly what he was doing and in no time the problem was fixed. Keith never came off as a sales man pressuring you to buy more, he gave you what you needed to hear and that’s it. If you had questions he had the answer. Keith is very professional and above all else, honest. That is why I will continue calling A-1 Heat & Air.

Similar experience to the last reviewer — these guys are shady. 2 years ago, we had them install a new Amana air handler and outside unit. The price was good compared to others, and we also bought the 10 year warranty. We have since had nothing but trouble with the A/C, which is crazy for a nearly new unit — but this is a review for A-1, not Amana… The air recently stopped working altogether and we had them come out. The technician said we were leaking freon, and proceeded to test each area to see if he could find the leak. He said if any parts were leaking it would be covered by our 10 year warranty. After 2 hours of testing indoors and outdoors, he indicated he couldn’t find a leak anywhere — and concluded that we had a leak UNDERTHESLAB in our A/C supply line, so it could not be repaired. Now the kicker — that was the only thing he could have found that was NOT covered by our 10 year warranty. He quoted me $ 1350 to run a new supply line up the side of the house and through the wall to the bonus room. Said he could be out later that week to do it himself(I am always suspicious of diagnostic personnel that also do the work, no checks and balances!) — and charged me $ 85 for his service call. So before paying $ 1350, I decided to get a second opinion from a trusted A/C repair guy that a friend has used many times. He came out to the house and in 2MINUTES found oil seeping and a leak in the outside unit! This is the same unit that the A-1 guy supposedly tested over and over and couldn’t find anything — this guy could see the telltate oil seepage indicating a freon leak(freon carries trace amounts of oil in it) by just looking at it. So long story short, this other guy confirmed the leak by doing a simple pressure test and is completing the repair on a leaky part under Amana warranty, with no cost to me. I strongly advise anyone looking at A-1 to reconsider — it is clear that any professional could have seen a small leak covered by warranty, yet this tech was trying to gouge me for $ 1350! As if that’s not bad enough, he was actually badmouthing our Amana unit when he first got there saying how poor they were, before I told him they were the ones that had recommended and installed. Backpedal time… Buyer beware with these guys!

Been burned twice by these guys. First time my AC stopped working I called these guys and they sent a technician out. $ 80 service call fee to have him come. The man said I needed a new capacitor, so I bought one from them for about $ 100, which is already about $ 70 over priced for that part. Since I had to travel the next day for several weeks and didn’t have the time to obtain my own, I went ahead and bought it. About 2 months later, my AC stopped working again. This time I opened it up and took out the capacitor that A-1 had installed and took it to a different AC repair store that sold parts. When I showed the guy the capacitor that A-1 had installed and told him my AC unit model number, he said that the reason it fried so quickly is because it was the wrong one for my unit. I then bought the proper capacitor from him for around $ 30 and installed it myself when I got home. Everything worked great. About a year later, while I was out of town for business, a friend of mine stopped by my place and called to tell me that my AC had stopped working again. Since I was out of town, and didn’t want to let my apt get to hot and moldy, I ended up calling A-1 again for a service call. I didn’t want to have to do it but I needed to get the job done as quickly as I could. I had a friend let them in and write a check for them… Of course, it was the same problem as it always is, the capacitor. I knew that I was going to be overcharged again but had little options. My friend was under instructions to write them a check for all the repairs. The technician was aware of all of this, and that I was out of town. In the end, the A-1 technician charged me an $ 80 service call fee and then around $ 180 for the capacitor!!! That’s a 500% upcharge for that part. I called to complain about being COMPLETELYRIPPEDOFF but was told that since my friend(who knows very little about air conditioners) signed off on it, it was a done deal. I was able to get in touch with the technician and he was very shady and nervous sounding when I called him out… he knew he was ripping me off. I understand that having a business is about making money but a 500% upcharge on a simple part!!! I only gave this business«1 star» because«0 stars» was not an option
