Great place to get a good burger or sandwich with kids. I take my 4 year old twins to the playroom and eat back there while they play. Its great when it’s rainy and cold out because they can play and I can enjoy a good meal without disturbing other diners. Beats the heck out of fast food play areas and good quality

Stopped in here for a quick dinner. The owner was yelling at the server and then turned his wrath on me for asking a question about the dinner. This owner is the rudest person I have ever encountered in a restaurant. I walked out and will never return. The owner needs to learn he is in a service business; there are a number of restaurants nearby that deliver good food with decent service.

This is my first time coming to Europa. I got the combo of a half sandwich and a soup($ 8.99). The half sandwich was rather small. It is a half of half a sandwich. If you’d like a measurement, it is the size of the length of my index finger – very small. I got mayo, lettuce, mustard, tomato, and roast beef in my sandwich. It was quite mediocre, but I will give credit to them for their meat. They slice it right in front of you and dip the meat in tasty sauce. However, it was quite a small sandwich. I also go minestrone soup. It was alright. Together, the soup and sandwich were filling if you typically eat a small to medium portion for lunch. ***Bottom line: Not going to blow your socks off. Try it if you wish.

Food in Orinda is generally pretty boring. But this place makes a mean Reuben. Their other options looked pretty good as well. I’ll be back to check out the rest of the menu, keep it up Europa.

I had a turkey sandwich today for $ 9.99. The carver used all bits and pieces for the turkey. Not one slice. I have no idea why I didn’t say something. My fault there. There couldn’t be more than 2 ounces of meat. Again my fault for accepting it. I’m not a complainer but I have to rate it as I feel. I’ve eaten there several times in the past. Will I go back, no. Should have gone to Brennen’s in Berkeley because I came from that direction.

This is a pretty interesting mix between a deli and a larger restaurant. They have all of your typical deli selections as well as kids meals and salads and burgers. There’s a playground and arcade in the back to let your kids drain their energy

Excellent family style carving station food and awesome deli. Everything we’ve ordered from the burgers, to crab sandwich to the cooked vegetables have been great. Wide open, casual atmosphere with a great selection of drinks. Good family place. My three kids(6,4 and 4) consider it their favorite restaurant. There is a giant play area in the back with two story play structure, coin games and more. Which makes it a place a parent can relax a bit while the kids play.(Only thing I would suggest is for more consistency in regards to when the video games are actually turned on). If you’ve got a family, or are just looking for some great home cooked food, this is the place for you.

Ordered the corned beef and cabbage entrée with 2 sides, and was told the cabbage counted as a side… Very misleading signage… Should just say corned beef… Corned beef was dry, and cabbage was meh… Mashed potatoes and gravy was edible… Just went here because the Mexican spot next door was closed, and I was on a lunch break… I wouldn’t recommend it…

A fast and delicious plate of food! We usually come here when we are hungry NOW! because we know the food will be hot and ready! We love stopping in when we are driving between Oakland and Concord. Today I ordered the Reuben sandwich.. minus the bread! I now have a new favorite dish! Succulent corned beef with the right amount of fat.. warm kraut, and melted cheese. Yummy! On the owners recommendation … fresh made Cole slaw that complements the saltiness of the meat and the tartness of the kraut. A wonderful combination! A perfect tasty option for anyone who has to eat gluten free! My husband’s go to meal is a fresh roast turkey and roast beef sandwich. The jus is excellent for dipping and complements the meat perfectly. The service is always fast and friendly.

I went there the other night and really liked the food this time. I had lean corned beef with a sausage which were both lean and soft. So good. They also have a good play space for the kids. Parents can watch a game on the TVs while enjoying a beer while the kids are behind a glass wall in the play area. NICE!

The only reason it’s not getting zero stars is because some of our meal was eatable. We ordered a turkey plate with mashed potatoes and corn. The horn tasted like it was from a can, and was barely yellow. More like brown. Chose it over the pasty looking green beans. Second order was a pastrami and corned beef sandwich with not fat on the meat. Guess what? FULL of fat. Third order, small Greek salad with ½ roast beef sandwich on sourdough. Cucumbers in the salad were soft and floppy, and the tomatoes old. Tiny pieces of feta. Last time I checked, sliced sourdough did not look, taste or get mushy like white bread. Gross. Our total? Just shy of $ 39. The carver was polite, the second employee looked and acted as though she couldn’t be bothered. Then there was the owner. Such a gem! When we asked him to redo the corned beef as we had asked for no fat and clearly showed him fat was all we got, he looked straight in our eyes and said, «It’s not that bad. Give it a try.» SERIOUSLY? I just told you it wasn’t what I wanted and showed you it WAS that bad. Oh, and the great kid area? The play structure hadn’t been cleaned in a LONG time. When my daughter played a game and it stiffed her, I encouraged her to say something. We stood there whole he helped three other people and when he(barely) looked at her, he cut her off mid-sentence to tell her he had a guy coming. Great, bud, how about hanging up a sign? How much are you benefitting from the broken games and kids who don’t say anything. After he helped a few more people, he was kind enough to give her a bouncy ball. Ugh. Dick of an owner, food that is very average(meat only) or totally gross(everything else). We won’t be back ever. We should have gone to the place next store.

After dinner at a local sushi bar, our family walked by and saw this nice place. Thought it would be a good place to eat, plus, we noticed the play area where our two young daughters can play. So the next day we arrived at about 6:30 pm for six people. We all got the dinner plate and thought the meat portions were somewhat small. Place has a nice atmosphere but overall the food was only average, slightly better than cafeteria food. We didn’t get to try their sandwiches or burgers so we couldn’t comment on that. The reason I’m giving this a two star review is due to the service. They are supposed to close at 8pm or so but they made it clear to us that it was a slow night we were the last customers and they were gonna close early. They refused service to a man who walked in 5 minutes after us. We don’t mind people going home early but we felt very rushed. So we ate our food at a good pace. Meanwhile, you could tell that they were all getting ready to leave. Prior to arriving, we promised our young girls that they could play in the play area, so while still eating, I told the oldest that she had 5 minutes to play. The youngest was still eating and wasn’t ready to play. The oldest went over to play and then they started to turn off the lights on us. We looked shocked and so they were in the back playing with the lights until they could figure out which lights to turn off so that we could see our food. Turns out they were trying to find the switch that would turn off the play area so that our kids couldn’t play. The oldest managed to play for about 2 minutes but the youngest, a 3 year old, began to cry when we rushed out and didn’t let her play. We felt very bad for the 3 year old and since there was still daylight out, we went to a nearby park for the kids to play. This made the little ones happy. It seems as if the service here is not great at all, as if they don’t seem to care for their customer. Suffice to say, we likely will not be returning here.

They have a bad attitude problem here. Both my wife and I felt insulted by this fresh from college punk. The food sucks. My «Voted Best in the East Bay» Ruben had boiled meat that was mushy. The good news is I haven’t died yet. I am a Hauf Brau fan and this depresses me further because this one was so disappointing.

I’m visiting this location in Orinda and I see my review for the Montclair location in Oakland listed. I guess the Oakland location must have closed and now we have a combined listing of the reviews here. I liked the Oakland location, but Orinda location is not as good. I’m here on a Sat for a sandwich and first off, the parking so totally sucks here in the Orinda Village. Mostly there is only street parking and it all full! So I park on the sly in the grocery store parking lot while my BF waits in the car. I wish I had more time to linger, but I just needed a sandwich cause I felt hunger pangs coming on. I haven’t been to this location before so it was a bit unfamiliar inside, like I just need a sandwich to go, but there are 2 lines. One for the hot plates and hot sandwiches and the other says deli orders. I go over to the deli section ans say I just need a sandwich to go. OK, she call over to the hot section to make my sandwich. That seems a bit of odd workflow. I get a Ruban since that’s suppose to be the best sandwich here. $ 9.99 for most sandwiches. Wow, $ 10 bucks for just a sandwich! She toasts the rye and preps it with a ton of mayo or some spread. I didn’t specify, I just ordered. The hot section guy brings over the meat and cheese and into the microwave it goes … really? The microwave? OK, then the girl makes the sandwich and wraps it up. Oh, I gotta go to the other register to pay, the same damn one I could have went to in the first place? OK, pay up and leave with my $ 10 sandwich. My BF is waiting in the car and off we go to his appointment in Berkeley. We arrive in Berkeley early, so this gives me a chance to eat my sandwich and get my energy back up. I unwrap the sandwich and its sort of a soggy mess. The toasted rye has been steamed all soggy and the innards are a gooey mess. The taste is OK, but would have been much better if the bread wasn’t all soggy. This probably would have been better eaten at the restaurant. So, my advice, don’t get a Ruban or any hot sandwich to go. Eat it there! A cold sandwich might be OK, but get ready for the high prices. I probably won’t return as it’s not near where I live anymore. They have turkey drumsticks if you want that as well as sliced from the bird turkey. I’m not gonna give 1 or 2 stars cause the sandwich was a mess, just don’t get it to go!

Somewhat average depending on what you get. I’m pretty boring so it might not be the place for me, just because of how picky I am.

Knowing this place is for carnivores, we didn’t expect much quality out of the one(veggie burger) vegetarian option going into the restaurant. But we wanted to go here one night because it had a little play area for our kids to romp about while we had a beer and v. Burger. The reason I’m giving this place 1(or 0) stars is that we went through the line, paid by credit card, got set up in the kids room, and then several minutes later someone came in and told us they were out of veggie patties. Then, they refused to put the money back on my credit card! Instead, they gave me cash back. I had tipped them 20%(for nothing) but they didn’t return the tip– just the amount of the food plus tax. I suppose they were trying to save some sort of fee from the credit card company refund or they were incompetent and didn’t know how to process a refund. Who knows. What I do know is: they didn’t track their inventory so didn’t have the food on hand and didn’t find out until after we had our kids settled into the place; we had to disappoint our kids by leaving; they got a 20% tip for worse than nothing; they lost one family of customers who live just a mile away who would’ve probably spent $ 100 a month there until our kids had outgrown their dirty little play area.

I love Hofbrau’s but the quality of Europa’s room wasn’t that great. the giant turkey leg was too dry. Corn beef sandwich was average. The reuben sandwich was pretty good, that’s what their known for. The guy helping us was really friendly. I don’t mind giving it another try.

Happened upon Europa after a high school game at miramonte… glad I did. I love the old hof brau establishments that seem to be far and few between these days. I arrived around 8pm to no lines and just a few folks having dinner so I was immediately worried I made a bad choice going there. NOT …ordered the corned beef and mash with gravy with a side of cabbage. The corned beef was flavorful and very juicy and tender as it should be. Loved it. The mash and gravy were spot on for me… seasoned just right with a far from bland gravy. I will say the cabbage was a bit overcooked but went well with the meal. For around $ 11 or so bucks it’s a great meal… big portion and hella tasty ! Check it out… there’s also plenty nearby as it’s smack dab in the heart or Orinda village.
