Dorn is your typical small town hardware store. Yes, the help is a little crusty. But they know something about most everything hardware related and can typically point you in the right direction and give suggestions. Their inventory is surprisingly large, and they usually have at least one of what you are looking for. On average they are higher priced than box stores — which is to be expected. But you do need to be careful on prices. I’ve found items that are right in line price wise and others that are 2x as much.

Since I live in Oregon, I do a lot of quick trips in Dorn as they have everything I’ve needed and while the cost might be a little bit more, it saves me a trip to the big box. Most of the staff are helpful and friendly, and they do know their merchandise. Never was happy with the quality of their paint but other than that, no complaints.

Dorn Hardware is your typical small town hardware store. Stuff of all kinds stacked all over. They do not have a million of any one item, just a few of a million or two different items. The staff has always been helpful getting me pointed in the right direction. They may not know exactly the item I am trying to describe to them, but they usually get me to the area I need to be in.

No business could suck more than Dorn Hardware in Oregon. I have yet to meet a person who has received good service there. On my few visits I have been swore at for asking for something in the store room, been told by a cashier that I have to wait to be rung up because ‘locals’ are in line behind me and been told to «read the f***ing» instructions on a product when I had a simple question about it. If you want good service and a polite and knowledgeable staff go to Shoughton Ace Hardware as most people in Oregon do.
