Came here the other night for dinner and was disappointed. The overall experience was underwhelming. The food was ‘eh’ at best. The miso soup arrived lukewarm, was probably just sitting out in the back. The steamed broccoli and ‘rock shrimp’ were also lukewarm when they arrived. I put that in quotations because it’s not your regular shrimp doused in the classic light orange sauce, it’s little fried seafood balls. We had to ask a waiter what it was when it arrived to our table! Then the sweet potato in the sweet potato roll was overly fried and unappetizing. On the bright side we did enjoy the Yellow tail and crab nigiri, rainbow roll, spicy tuna roll, mango avocado roll and the chicken teriyaki. Those were definitely the highlights of our meal and were very nicely done and presented. Probably the most striking aspect was that service was virtually non-existent. A waiter simply dropped off the little menu and walked away, didn’t even bother to give us a pencil or two to check off what we wanted. Another waiter comes over and takes our drink order. Towards the end, we asked a female waitress to give us our check. No one checked in on us with drinks or if the food was good, very odd. I can say they were good at giving you another menu if you wanted to order more and taking away the empty dishes, our table was never overcrowded.

I been to both the one here in orange and Hamden. Both of them have awesome chefs. Sushi are always very good. But the only problem at the one here in orange is the workers are horrible. Customer service needs some work. Workers here look like they hate their job and it reflects on how they treat the customers.

We had high hopes walking into a full house and not having had sushi since moving up from Dallas. We rarely frequent any type of buffets but this place was highly recommended by a few people. We ordered a few standard rolls and found them mediocre at best and then ventured to more exotic lobster rolls. Never have we took a bite and spit it right out.

$ 20 for AYCE sushi? Sign me up! We arrived as a party of 4 on a Tuesday night(12÷01÷15) and were seated immediately. I was cautious and did not have too high of expectations, but the food was great. The waitresses, although not very enthusiastic, did their jobs — refilled our waters, picked up our empty plates, and were attentive to when we were ready to order again. We started with some apps: seaweed salad, edamame, calamari, BBQ squid, and shrimp tempura. No problems with any of those choices. Then the sushi party began. We mainly ordered sashimi and a couple of rolls. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The red bean ice cream was a great way to wrap up dinner.

Service was terrible and food was terrible. I should have known that the restaurant smelling like fish was a bad sign. My boyfriend was sick immediately after.

Went here about a week ago and for the most part, really enjoyed our food. Ambience and décor was nice. Food was awesome. We had several rolls, some apps, and some sashimi. Now if it was based just on these attributes, I’d give 5 stars — however — first the waiter while bringing our tall glasses of cold water to our table, he dropped a full tall ice cold glass of water on the table, which all went in my lap, on my shirt, and all over the table and floor. The staff rushed over to clean up the spill and put us at another table — but didn’t give me a towel to dry off, didn’t offer a free beverage, app, or anything, and we got a full bill. Only an apology. We also felt we were very rushed. Sorry — because of these problems — Sushi Palace only gets 3 stars.

It’s my favorite sushi place! We keep coming back year after year. Brought non-sushi lovers and they enjoyed it. Does tend to get crowded on weekends and service slows down, but it’s all you can eat!

First off, great food. I might venture to use the word«fantastic». Great menu, and great options. I’ve been here several times and the food is always top quality and very fresh. GREATFOOD! However, the service is TERRIBLE. Quite often, you have to wait a very long time between ordering and food arrival. Order your drinks all at once. Seriously. Every drink you plan to consume before you leave the restaurant should be ordered right away. Because you may not see your server again. Tuesday, August 25, 2015 I took my son and my fiancé for dinner. We arrived at 7:00 and we were seated at 7:20. We ordered our first round which arrived at 7:50 and 8:15. We ate and ordered our second round at 8:30 and at 9:45 I asked for the bill, paid, and we left the table hungry. The manager offered no discount, no refund, nothing. His reply was«We are very busy. You must wait.» I love the food, but if they dont care about my business, I don’t know if I’ll go back.

The customer service is terrible. My family and I ordered a dish of sushi and we waited a half hour. We ordered a second time and again we waited 30 minutes. A waste of time and money… The waiters and waitresses didn’t come to our table for a long time. They said to wait for a few minutes for our order to come out but 20 minutes later… nothing. Horrible customer service

Order everything you can eat the first time, otherwise you will be waiting for quite some time. Service is hit and miss. Sometimes they fill your water or just forget. Nigiri is the only decent thing. Rolls are were poorly made and watery. Sashimi was clunks of fish poorly cut. Fried appetizers were good if you get the right things.

I went with my husband for Saturday night dinner, when we got there the place was packed. The service was good & food was served faster than expected. The special rolls and the single sushi are huge though. Get you full really fast!

Revisited. May not be big on décor or waitress personality but the food presentation remains outstanding. They have two buffet menus, one from the sushi bar the other from the kitchen. Both had excellent optiins. The kicker choices each came complete with its own special sauce. If you can get past the cold waitress the food and $ 19 all you can eat prices should make your day!

Would have been a 5 star except their service was annoying. This is the second branch, the first is in Hamden. Much bigger place, comfortable. Happy to report that the sushi quality is exactly the same. Fresh, generous, and tasty. The rolls are a balanced mix of rice and filling. Enjoyed all these very much. So far any choice I’ve made here was good, so don’t be afraid. However– Despite what you write on the order sheet, they serve less. It’s annoying. My guess is to try to stop wastage and maximize profit while you lose your hunger pangs from waiting? Don’t offer to serve much as you want, then try to manipulate the customer. As expected it wasn’t enough, we were all forced to re-order the missing sushi and rolls and wait. Ruined an otherwise good experience.

Very good sushi. Fresh, great quality and delicious taste. The only reason I don’t give 5 stars is that when I mark down the menu, they won’t bring all I mark or they’ll bring something else. Other than that I have no complaints about the food. The service could be better but it’s usual for the waiters to be distant.

Second location of Sushi Palace. The original is in Hamden. I used to frequent the Hamden location all the time but this one is much more convenient with plenty of parking since it is in the DSW plaza. There is also parking on the side of the building if you can’t find anything in front. I love the concept of made to order all you can eat. I wish they had this in Jersey. Sushi is fresher than the usual sushi buffet where it has been sitting out all day. They have a great selection of sushi and kitchen items. You can also choose from the regular menu and opt out of the all you can eat but where’s the fun in that? You can also get takeout from here as well. Pricing: Mon-Thurs Adult $ 17.95 Kid $ 9.95 Fri-Sun Adult $ 19.95 Kid $ 10.95

Sushi Palace is great if you’re looking for fresh sushi at a decent price. My fiancé and I love sushi and we could eat it multiple times a week if we could. However when you think about all of life’s expenses, like a mortgage and college tuition, sushi all the time(especially in CT) is not affordable. This is where Sushi Palace comes in! I’ve eaten at some pretty awesome sushi places throughout CT and Sushi Palace can stand its own in terms of quality fish. For around $ 20 a person you can get delicious rolls and generous slices of sashimi. I consider this a steal because my fiancé and I could easily spend more than $ 100 at a typical sushi joint. I like this location better than the one in Hamden. Parking is not an issue like in Hamden and the actual restaurant is bigger(and ladies — DSW is next door!) I don’t suggest going later evening Thursday — Saturday because the place gets pretty busy. We typically go for an earlier dinner(like 5 –5:30) and the place is pretty dead, but by 6:30 — 7:30, the place is PACKED. Other people have pointed out that service is lacking at Sushi Palace. While I agree that the service can be a little sterile, they do a good job. With it being an all you can eat place, I do not expect Carmin Anthony’s service. All I expect is that my water glass/tea cup does not get empty, my empty plates are not left on my table, and my check is brought to me promptly. All in all — Sushi Palace is a no frills kind of place. If you’re looking for top-notch service with a fantastic sushi boat presentation, Sushi Palace is not for you and you will be disappointed… If you can get over all of the frills, Sushi Palace is a great place for fresh sushi. Oh and if you go — have the crab meat salad. It’s delicious :)

My boyfriend and I come here all the time. We’ve been sitting here for 45 minutes and have gotten one of our two appetizers. Needless to say, this is the worst service we’ve gotten here. The service really can be atrocious. The all-you-can-eat sushi price is good and the food is fantastic… Just be prepared for either attitude, a long wait, or both. Update: We left because an hour in we still had no sushi. On our way out they didn’t even seem to care, and had the nerve to charge us for the spring roll and crabmeat salad. I’m always very patient at restaurants, but this was disgusting. Waste of gas(15 minute trip) and waste of time. Doubt we will go back. Koi in Ansonia is near our house and the reviews for it are stellar.

Great place to go for a cheap sushi fix, as long as you keep your expectations in check. It’s all-you-can-eat sushi. That is awesome. I’ve had great experience with the service here on weeknights. Was also here on a busier late Sunday afternoon, and while slower, the service was still good. That said, I would never come here(or anywhere like it) on a Friday or Saturday night. To me, it just seems obvious that the service wouldn’t be good at an AYCE place during primetime, and there are plenty of reviews here to support that. But the service I’ve got here mid-week has been exceptional. The sushi is very good. Not great, but very good. For the price, it’s unbeatable. They have a pretty good variety of special rolls(15 on the menu), which is what I typically order, and most of them are very good. On our most recent visit, two of us put down nine special rolls, 2 glasses of wine, and 2 bottles of hot sake for ~$ 70 with tip. It’s really impossible to not get your money’s worth here. You won’t get a super high quality culinary experience here. But as I said, if you’re looking for a cheap sushi fix, it’s superb.
