Blah! Is it ME? Or is it that the food that some places are serving are just sub-par? Maybe I’m old? And remember what REAL food tastes like, and not this, this… hell idek what to say about this«food»… Idk where all the 5 star reviews are coming from but y’all need to STOPIT bc this food ain’t hardly worth no 5 stars or even worth driving out of your way to get or even worth putting it into your rotation… I’m originally from Fl@tbush BK so when I heard JERK, I was thinking JERK– not this mess! First of all the chicken was just roasted or baked or whatever, no seasoning throughout, the yellow rice was just that– colored yellow! No flavor whatsoever, highly disappointed-ugh…

Good food, music and excellent service. This is a nice Caribbean bar/restaurant to go. Wings and fried rice is delicious. They serve Caribbean/Chinese dishes. If you go here, you definitely gotta try the rum punch. They have fast take out service as well. If you’re looking to party, this is also a great spot to go to; best nights are Friday and Saturday. They also have a outside patio and bar section. Very nice bar.

This place has AMAZING Trinidadian dishes. The Caribbean-Chinese dishes are out of this world good. I haven’t heard of anyone eating here that did not find the food to be superb. The night life is also something to check out if that’s your scene. The dj plays the top soca, reggae, and dancehall tunes. The drinks are very good and for the ambience, service, popularity of this place, the prices will obviously go up on weekend nights– but well worth it. The outdoor seating and bar in the summer is something that I look forward because there are no other spots in the area with the same atmosphere. I can’t stop raving about this place-go check it out for yourself.

Unbelievable. 1) I love Guyanese food. It is a mix between Indian + Chinese + Caribbean. 2) Get the Jerk chicken fried rice. OMG amazing! 3) Ambiance is nice as well.

Barbecue Shrimp Fried Rice and Chicken in De Rough were both mouth watering and I’m eager to try their other menu offerings. I’ve also come here for their Friday and Saturday night parties and both nights were excellent with Reggae and Soca music pumping in the air. Didn’t think I’d find a place like this in New Jersey but I’m glad I did. Would come back here as my one spot stop for dining and dancing!

Jerk chicken fried rice is to die for… Yes you read that correct Jerk as in Caribbean and fried rice as in Asian. They have a real live Asian Caribbean cook in the kitchen. How dope is that? Really authentic reggae music as well. Love this place on Friday and Saturday nights in the summer

It’s a decent place to eat. The food is very good in my opinion. I really go there for the night life. The Djs are always on point mixing and selecting very well. If you’re not from one of the Caribbean islands, you may not understand the vibe to well. Always new faces and you don’t have to get to dressed up, even though some of the ladies take no notice of that. There are not many places in north NJ where you can find a good spot for food, drinks, and a lil lime all in one. #limerz

Very nice place to get a drink and relax, good food, good music. Went on a Friday night and had a few drinks and then people started coming in, weekends are party time and lots of people came in that Friday night… but we stayed and enjoyed ourselves overall very nice place and great service from the lady. She is awesome!!!

Have been frequenting Castaways for a few months now and have only once been disappointed, by a dish someone ELSE ordered(goat rotti). The Shrimp Rotti is a for sure go-to that has never failed me, on take-out nor in-house. I LOVE this dish and highly recommend. Ambience: complete bliss after work between 8&10p before the crow begins. Great reggae, good service, good food.

I celebrated my birthday party here. It was great, the owner was wonderful very nice person to deal with. The DJ had the place jumping. The food was good, reminded me of back home in Trinidad.

I sent Saturday night, to see how this local spot was and get something to eat. I’m always adventurous with food, so I got the BBQ duck. It was the First time I’ve had duck at a restaurant with bones in it. This made eating not enjoyable, also some pieces of the meat were burnt or their BBQ sauce was not mix correctly, some pieces had a slight sweetness and others had a more soy taste, I’m assuming some Asian type BBQ, I would never order it again, thank goodness I had my Heineken to enjoy. My friends got the chicken and fried rice dishes, seems like they like it. The music was too loud, for no reason, no one was dancing anyway. I’m jamaican, but seemed to be typical West Indian(New Jersey) crowd standing around and posing. I also thought the DJ would mix the music up more, I’m Jamaica but I would have liked to hear some soca or some chutney at least to mix it up, not just reggae. Our waitress was nice though
