Worth making a stop here even when you are on your way down the road. Excellent foot long hot dogs in toasted buttered buns. A zillion other items to try, too! Great ice cream – so special it is served at a separate window. ;) Only downside is cash only.

Were the wait times a little long? Sure, but we went on one of the hottest days of the year so far. Was it understaffed? Sure seemed like it, but I attribute that to my previous point. Was the food a little pricey? Sure, but it’s a seasonal, local, family owned restaurant, and not some corporate owned chain. Overall, while there are things that could have been slightly better, the food was good. When I paid $ 2.50 for a hot dog, I sure didn’t expect a foot long. All three of my kids who were eating them destroyed them happily. The scallop dinner was exactly what you expect from New England dairy bar fried seafood. Good portion, good taste, good fries underneath. The ice cream we finished the night with was also very good. Lots of flavor choices, a great sundae selection. Will we eat here frequently? Probably not. Will we back before the summer is over? Absolutely.

Anne’s has been our destination for their whole belly clam platter for many years. The clams are consistently clean(free of grit; it is a huge turnoff if you bite into a piece of sand in your clams). The tartar sauce containers provided are small, and a bit lacking in relish, but that’s a minor point. It may at first seem expensive for this platter, but there is enough food for two meals! The French fries are very good, but I order it with the tasty sweet potato fries, which they will substitute. The platter also comes with some good tasting traditional cole slaw. I always get a delicious chocolate shake to go with this meal. Bring cash, as they are cash-only, which is a sign that they are worth the trip. Sadly, they closed for the season in early September this year. Looking forward to next spring!

Just bought a house here in Orange with my wife and this place has been in our eye everytime we pass by with the lines of people they always have at the joint. So of course we finally stopped, got their Large ice cream cones in Waffle cones for only $ 4.75. They were enormous! With literally about 8 scoops of ice cream on each and same thing when you order them in a cup. This place is amazing already for the price of their portions, I just can’t wait to try one of each thing off the menu and really!.. See how much you get. P. S. Did I mention how insanely flavorful the ice cream was? Holy hell! It was! :)

Pretty typical greasy drive-in diner. Food took a long time,(30 min+) and it was just a hot dog, cheeseburger, some fries, rings, and fish nuggets. Can’t imagine there’s much preparation in flipping a beef patty & rolling a hot dog on a skillet, and submerging fries, o-rings and nuggets in the same vat of oil at the same time. The crowd was trashy type with loud misbehaving kids & crabby fat parents. Can’t imagine I will be back anytime soon.

Outstanding soft serve creamee. Very good lobster roll(all meat!) and the hot dog and zesty fries were great as well. Nice picnic tables in the back as well. Eat here!

Food is generous and fantastic. Had a lobster roll meal one day — it was huge, fresh, with big hunks of meat. The next day I had chicken and fish nugget platter w/sweet potato fries — ‘wicked awesome!’ And yes, the ice cream flavors are great too!!!

Great ice cream. Fast service. Cash only, kinda sucks. Was the toothbrush invented in this town? Because if not, they probably would have called it a teeth brush. Very high tooth to tattoo ratio here.

This is a quintessential Northeastern ice cream and fried seafood joint in the country burbs. We were hiking at Tully Lake and afterward wanted something to recharge and stumbled across this place… after Unilocaling it. Their food was pleasingly greasy and good. The beer battered onion rings were light and fluffy; the cajun fries had just enough kick; and the clam strips were satisfying… while nothing to write home about. However, their lobster sandwich was something to go out of your way for. Cheaper than most you would find, it was still a great size with plenty of lobster lighty mayo’d. While my friend did harp a little about how there wasn’t any tail meat, I didn’t hold it against them. Their ice cream was also amazingly good and came in classically Huge country suburban portions. What you might normally consider ordering at a chain, downsize that by one size. All the flavors we tried were creative, creamy, and delicious! You can’t go wrong. The staff is also super friendly and they even came out to say hi to our dogs and gave them doggie treats!

After an exhausting weekend of camping, we were starving and wanted to get a lot of food before we hit the road. Thank you Unilocal for pointing us to Anne’s Dairy Drive-In. The food was delicious and the portions huge. Though the food is fried, it’s not overly done and not really greasy at all. The haddock was delicious and the cajun fries yummy. There were plenty of picnic tables w/umbrellas and they were all clean. I’m giving it only 4 stars because 1) they had no recycling and I cannot stand to throw away plastic utensils and I’m very much against styrofoam cups and takeout containers and 2) I ordered an extra small ice cream cone which was supposed to be 1 scoop and it was more like 3. I always order extra small or kiddie cones because I cannot eat more than a small serving and don’t like throwing food away(i’m against throwing away in general). My son also ordered an extra small and of course couldn’t finish it and so it dripped all over the car as my husband and I passed it back and forth trying to get rid of it. After eating my 3 scoops the last thing I wanted was more ice cream! Large portions are not necessarily better. I have to say, though, that the blueberry ice cream was delicious and I will definitely go back next time I’m in the area.

When I was a kid, drive-in places were a big cause for family excitement. Anne’s really brought back that feeling. Portions are huge, and we did not leave hungry. If you’re longing for that feeling from childhood, when Dad pulled in to the local drive-in, this is a great place to reminisce AND get fed all at once!

The food is great — huge portions, delicious, cheap price. It’s what you’d expect from the name: fried food and ice cream. I usually come for just the ice cream(unless I’m craving some fried clams), which comes in a good variety of flavors and generous portions. Great place to bring the kids, with outdoor seating and picnic tables. No doubt the best ice cream joint in the area.

Food is excellent with excellent prices. Good variety of ice cream, staff is friendly, and the hot fudge sundaes are large(and inexpensive for the amount). There are always lines during prime time hours during the summer, and for good reason. Great lunch specials(ex: Grilled Chicken Cesar Wrap, with mounds of onion rings, sweet potato fries, or french fries for $ 6.50). Also they have plenty of choices from fried clam plates, lobster rolls, to grinders. Everything is good here. My favorite place to stop for a good lunch or low frills dinner. There are a few picnic tables outside, and a place to sit in the shade under cover out back. This is a well run business, and they keep fun food affordable in our tiny town. You will not leave this place hungry., and neither will your kids. A small ice cream is a small mountain here. Nice large flat parking lot for bikers wanting to stop for a casual eat or ice cream after a ride around the Quabbin.

This is thee place for the largest lobster roll in New England! Did I mention that it’s really good too? … and cheaper than most? It takes a while to get it — the lobster must have put up a good fight — so you may want to eat your creami while you wait. If you can manage to eat all that, fetch the wheelbarrow ’cause that’s the only way you’re getting home!
