Today was my first time here and it was ok nothing spectacular also the fact that we waited almost 45 mins when it wasn’t that busy and families that was seated after us ate before us was ridiculous ihop or first watch would be my first choice always

I think I’ve been here three times now and apparently I always order the wrong thing. Other people at the table will get something very tasty, and I get… well, less than that. Case in point: Today my lunch partner ordered a BLT Club with potato salad. The potato salad was a little weird — like it had a significant amount of vinegar in it. But different can be good, right? The BLT was a classic, really tasty, fresh tomato, crispy bacon on thick rye toast, cut in quarters and served on spears. I ordered one of the daily specials, chicken-fried pork loin chop, not knowing that it came smothered in a gooey white gravy that completely obscured the meat(that wasn’t noted on the hand-written specials menu we were handed). The mashed potatoes were bland and covered in a brown gravy that was equally not tasty, and the green beans were cooked to pieces. It reminded me of the old-fashioned TV dinners that came in aluminum trays, back before microwaves. I ended up scraping the white gravy off the pork chop and eating it, leaving most of everything else. Fortunately my partner’s BLT was huge and I ate some of that. Next time(if there is one), I will split a BLT and a side order — the fried green tomatoes sounded good. On the plus side, it is cheap, portions are huge and the staff is very friendly. And the pork chop would have been very good without the white sludge.

When you 1st walk in its a little confusing and kinda clustered. Get your name on the pad of paper for a table, lol. A little unconventional indeed. Once seated we were greeted by a very nice waitress who was helpful with suggestions. They have a menu and then they have specials on a paper tablet as well, might just be too much going on there. Once the food arrived, everything was hit and fresh and delicious. I had corned beef hash, eggs, biscuit and gravy. My husband had pancakes and eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns. We were so hungry I forgot to take pictures! Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly, was just as good as I make it at home. I was pleased to find some greek influence in the menu since I enjoy this cuisine. We will definitely be back for another visit to this mom-n-pop divey place!

We love this place! It has been our go-to breakfast place for years. Best catfish and eggs ever! The country fried steak is so tender you can cut it with a fork. The entire staff is always friendly and fun! A must try.

Yum yum yum. Came at 830 am for brunch on a Saturday. Place was packed but we only had a 5 min wait to be seated with a party of 7. Food also came out relatively quick. Lots of menu selections for either breakfast or lunch. I had the crab cake Benedict. Delicious. Wait staff was super knowledgeable on the food and how it is cooked. Definitely coming here again and again.

I really like coming to this place and had to let others know how it good it is. For a really good breakfast, come to this place. The prices are great! The waitresses are great! The food always comes out delicious! Just a cute place in town. You have to try it out! You can’t get better prices than here for sure.

Ehhhh… I can only really review for breakfast because that’s the only thing I’ve had here. You know, breakfast is pretty much kind of simple and hard to screw up. This place just seem to be going through the motions. Scramble some eggs, fry some bacon and the customer is happy. Well this was just not the case, everything was kind of bland and tasteless. Even the biscuits for right out of a package, I mean would it kill you to make some fresh. The home fries had been sitting there since 5:30 that morning because there are very cold. And it’s not that hard to get some real ketchup, it was very watered down. I’m sorry Mr grumpy but I probably will not be back.

Always a wonderful experience. Food is always well portioned, sometimes beyond what I can eat. The waitresses are always super nice and happy which makes a morning great to me. Seeing as I dislike early days! Always a good time eating here! And if you can manage getting here super early, the wait won’t be long at all!

Best cornedbeef hash I’ve ever had, and damn good coffee too. Check out this spot if you haven’t already, and support local businesses!

Greatest place in Orange Park for breakfast. Every year my kids come for Christmas and they’ll ask to go here for breakfast. It’s now traditional and I’ll go there through out the year just to brag about having breakfast and seeing liver on my plate again. By the way, it’s just like my mother use to make.

Had lunch at 1:30. Probably their last customer of the day. This is what I would call a «country style» restaurant. The décor is plain and simple. It was clean and comfortable. My waitress was attentive and made no mistakes. I ordered one of the many specials, Shepherd’s Pie and had the Collard Greens as my side veggie. The food arrived quickly, was very hot and with good sized portions. The shepherd’s pie was a little different from the norm, but still good. Most people would want to add salt, but I liked it with just some pepper. The collards were EXCELLENT. Tender and tasty, made with bacon. They were chopped which might not appeal to everyone, but I thought it added flavor throughout. Overall, a good experience and I will return when in the area to try another dish and order more collards.

Friendly breakfast place with service thats prompt an on point. Good coffee fresh and steaming hot. 4 on service 2 on the food. Chipped beef home fries eggs was ok but wasnt much on plate for $. I Always try biscuits — these were not to my liking — kind of soggy soft. I like em more dense & filling. Long short — spent $ 11 breakfast & left hungry.

I really wanted to like this place. Especially since we live nearby & love a good breakfast. But in the 2 times I’ve been there I have not been impressed in the least bit. Except by the staff. They are just so sweet & friendly. I wish I could give more stars just for them. But the food is just so ugh. Really not any different from Waffle House & I hate WH. I’m a huge maple syrup snob & they don’t even offer it for an up charge. I’m sorry but I do not want high fructose corn syrup mixed with sugar & food coloring to lather on my waffle or pancakes. Metro diner is opening in a month about 2 blocks up on the same street & unfortunately for grumpy’s, I think they will steal a lot of business.

I actually want to go back here someday soon as I haven’t forgotten the experience. It was the weekend after we closed on our new home and we were leaving our vacation home to move in but the stomach wants some brunch, so we drove around to explore the area near OP and found grumpys. I didn’t know about this… I quickly gave it a glance on Unilocal and said ok fine let’s do it. We were seated promptly, And seated family style with an older couple. The food is cheap and as good as home, and the coffee is always flowing and really hits the spot. It’s like going to a relatives home to eat with people you barely know but pretend they are family. It is unique and though not for everyone, I had a good time. I’m glad I had that experience and it put me at ease about moving to good old FL.

This place is so busy I think service can be effected but not because the ladies lack of passion or friendliness. I do not call this my go to breakfast place but today I tried it again cause I was starving… The smoked sausage is not my type ad it is the spicy link type than the smoked type The hash browns were perfectly cooked but I think I was shorted one egg? Being this place is always packed a lot of people enjoy eating here. Maybe I will return and try the many lunch items they offer another day.

Because of all the raving Unilocal reviews, I’ve had Grumpy’s bookmarked for quite some time. Unfortunately, when Hubby and I finally got around to coming for breakfast a few days ago, I can’t say I was nearly as impressed or amazed as other Unilocalers have been. Grumpy’s isn’t bad, nor is it great. I had a «meh» feeling as I was eating, and I left with the same«meh» feeling. I also left feeling lighter in the wallet than I wanted. Had the food been outstanding, I wouldn’t have minded the prices; but, «meh» was too over-priced. I had over-medium eggs, sausage links, hash browns with cheese, and toast. The eggs needed salt(as they do at most places), nothing outstanding about the sausage links — a sausage link is a sausage link, the hash browns were the same I get at Waffle House, and the toast was… well, toast. Hubby had scrambled eggs, corned beef hash(the main reason he wanted to come here), and hash browns with cheese. He said the same as I did about the eggs and hash browns. As for the corned beef hash, he said it was good, but nothing so great that he’d go out of his way to come back for. He’s a real fan of corned beef hash and was really looking for the«wow factor» … alas, he didn’t get it. The service was absolutely wonderful. We were greeted with a smile and a warm, «Hello» the moment we walked through the door. Our waitress was extremely sweet, friendly, and attentive(without being too attentive as to be annoying). I may or may not come back. If I happen to be in the area and I’m wanting breakfast, I may. Although, I’ll probably go to Waffle House where I can get the same quality of food for a much lower price. As soon as we were in the car, we literally began talking about the fact we should have went to Waffle House and saved some money. And honestly, I’ve had service that was just as friendly at many Waffle House Restaurants. My bottom line for Grumpy’s: Pricey Waffle House food.
