We went here on spring break. My kids absolutely love this place, and we like it as well — have been here multiple times, and always had a good experience. The food is good, the service is very good and very friendly, and the atmosphere is very pleasant. I would definitely recommend it, and will definitely return.

Excellent food. I liked our waitress up to a point and then she kind of got snippy with my young cousin. Don’t sit outside unless you can take the heat. It took a long time to get our food.

Very good service and food. Ordered a burger well done, came out rare. Waitress noticed this afterward.(I hate complaining.) waitress notified manager. Manager came and apologized, removed the charge, and gave a free meal replacement. Never had a mistake addressed so genuinely at a restaurant. I’ll definitely be back.

We ate at Cobalt with friends last summer, and went again last night for my sister-in-law’s birthday. Last night we sat on the patio and enjoyed the spectacular view of the sun setting over the island. I believe I had steak the first visit, and it was no better than I could cook at home. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. Last night, I had the Shrimp Fra Diavolo. My husband had the shrimp and grits. Both were delicious. My dish was served in a slightly spicy tomato based sauce with angel hair pasta. The shrimp and grits were served as two shrimp skewers over grits and a delicious sauce. I would actually order it, and I’m very particular about shrimp and grits. The salads they brought out before our meals was lackluster. It was simply shredded lettuce with a cherry tomato and two small peppers with dressing. For dessert, my husband ordered a Brandy Alexander and my sister-in-law had banana pudding. I tasted both, and both were divine. Our meals set us back about $ 50, which wasn’t bad at all. The service was great in spite of the restaurant being very busy.

My wife and I live in Dallas, TX. We frequent the Gulf coast often. The menu, the food, the atmosphere, and the fact that you can dine at this restaurant by arriving via car or boat makes this an extremely popular location. We love their food! They assisted us in having an EXCEPTIONAL wedding renewal reception. We had the outdoor patio area facing the docks. Our reception started at 2 p.m. on a Saturday, and with the bright sun glaring down, the misters over-head, and the majority of the tables had shade, made the outdoor eating quite pleasant for our 75+ guest. As it pertains to the food; they kept the buffet bins full(we chose buffet over menu for that number of guest). We had a bar with a ‘limit’(handed out tickets) so no one got out of hand. They kept us up to date, and gave us the option to eclipse that limit. No Surprises. My wife and I would definitely recommend Orange Beach, Alabama… and there is no other option if you want a wonderful lunch or dinner, or a seamless reception, than Cobalt’s!

Arrived around 6:00PM and it was a 20 minutes wait, so my two friends and I opted to eat at the bar. It was a good choice! Bar staff was friendly and funny even though they were really busy. Our ordering consisted of a Cobalt’s Wedge Salad(delish), Pan Seared Free Range Chicken with mashed potatoes, greens served with Tasso gravy(yummy), Fried Oyster Po Boy(you gotta have a BIG mouth to get around that sandwich) and Margherita Pizza(perfect). We also had their Banana Pudding for dessert(interesting and good). There is a bakery counter when you walk in. «Miss Wonderful», one of the bar staff highly recommended the Red Velvet Whoppie cake. When I realized there were only two left at the counter and I feared that they would be gone by the time we were leaving, she whisked over to grab me one and put it in a to go box. We then paid for it with our meal. The view is beautiful, it is spacious with plenty of seating but expect to wait during the busy hours. The wait was up to an hour while we were eating.

The service at the inside bar is terrible. We arrived around 9:40pm. We were told by the hostess that there was a 1.5 hour wait?! We decided to grab seats at the bar. We should have taken the long way home and stopped at McGuires Irish Restaurant. It’s unfortunate because this place looked promising. Nice crowd. Our food was ok. We were told to try the $ 30 Grouper; don’t waste your money. The consistency was spongy and the«Risotto» looked like it came out of a can, like a cream of corn can. Erick, who I assume was«the bartender» was not warm or inviting. We had to ask several time for refills. For a cocktail menu. For food menus. We left feeling like we should be added to the payroll. This could be a great place and maybe it is and we caught them on a bad night but I would think twice about going to Cobalt ! They have some service issues, hopefully they are aware and can make some positive corrections ! The potential is there!

Pros — The burger was alright CONS — Everything else. Service was terrible. There was a 45 Minute wait, despite the fact that ½ of the tables were open. Our server seemed lost, and failed to bring me a beer that I asked twice for; I ended up not having ANY sort of drink through the whole meal. In addition, he didn’t even bring us any of the complimentary bread and butter that they give out to each table. He stopped at our table a total 3 times: to take our order, to bring our check, and to pickup our money. He spent most of his time chatting it up with some female over by the POS input system screen. The burger I ordered came out well-done, and I had requested«medium», and I am almost certain the fryer grease was old. The fries were soggy and coated with bits of what looked like batter used on the seafood. My wife had the shrimp, which came out soggy, with the batter denigrating mid-bite; staying true to the fact that the fryer grease was either old or set at too low of a temp. From the time we placed our order with the server, to the time he picked up our money, it took us 1hr 45m. This is disappointing, because I hear the same owners own Cosmo’s, which has been fantastic every time we have gone. Conclusion: Do not waste your time or money. This establishment is well OVER-hyped.

I love this place. We showed up with out reservations. Put our name on the list party of 7, one child. We could set outside and have drinks and listen to music during our 45 min wait. Once we got outside there wasn’t an option that we where going to set inside, so we changed reservations to outside seating option only. We sat got a round of assorted drinks and a virgin bushwhacker for the little one. Sticky isbell was playing music and the sun was setting. Awesome! Appetizers– ahi tuna stacker, broiled oysters, raw oysters, and the crab dip. Tuna stacker and crab dip where delicious! Nothing wrong with the oysters, cooked perfectly, but, oysters are everywhere. I do like that they serve them with grilled French bread instead of the crackers that most places do. Salad– was fine, we had the citus vinegette and blue cheese dressing– good. But, who goes some where for the salad? Entrees– I had the chicken pasta! Really really good! Couldn’t eat it all and took it with me and was dreaming about getting up to eat it! Sad dream, but, true. Fiancé had swordfish blackened with the risotto, succotash, benville style. Wonderful! Uncle had ribeye. He’s from Texas and thought it was the best steak he had ever had. Mom had fried sampler platter. None of it dry or over cooked. Sister had shrimp and grits– good. Oddly the grits at the hangout where the best we had. Aunt had mahi mahi benville style– really good also. Kid had grilled fish– it was nice and she ate it all. James was our waiter and he had a lady in training. They did a great job. When I asked for a crisp white wine to go with dinner they when in and got a sample of 3 different ones for me to try to decide! I went with conundrum… It feel familiar to me! We didn’t have dessert because we where stuffed. But, when we left there is a pastry counter and so we got a mini key lime and a chocolate truffle thing and had them later. Yummy! This place was romantic even with the whole family. The little danced to the music after dinner. And this was one of the cheapest meals we had! Cheaper than King Neptune’s! Granted we had the $ 125 grand platter there but, still.

This is my favorite place to go, in all of my travels. My family travel to Perdido Key regularly for vacation at our place in the beach. This is the place we go to every time we are down there. The tropical drinks really make the vacations feel tropical, even if we aren’t in Key Largo. For an appetizer, make sure to get two things: firecracker shrimp and a dozen baked oysters(choose the option that includes multiple of the oyster variations). For the main course, I love to get the seared yellow-fin tuna. It is so delicious, I never leave anything left on this plate!

Great food, great atmosphere. The best sunset view in town. It was a bit pricey but was well worth it. The desert menu was awesome. Would definitely go back.

Amazing!!! You have got to try the bacon, lettuce and tomato plus egg sandwich. Delish. And hopping John as a side dish. Yum. Our server Tyler was very, very good. Always on the spot.

Love the atmosphere: outdoor bar, seating, live music, and fire pits. However, the menu was less than impressive and our waitress was clearly new; forgetting our silverware, not knowing menu specifics, and not offering desserts or checking in on us. The drink menu was good but they were also out of key ingredients. We’ll try again for another day.

So I am writing this review after two visits to Cobalt’s in the past 24 hours. Last night my wife and I went to dinner there with my 3 children. The server was a little brisk at first but warmed up a little as the night progressed. Aside from her curt performance, our evening was wonderful. This is partly because the assistant staff for bread and food running was very courteous and friendly. Our dinner consisted of 2 kids meals and my wife and I had salads and split a meal and a bottle of wine. The wine selection was pretty varied, although I would have enjoyed a few Barbera or Barolo on the list. The bread they bring to the table is accompanied by a delectable whipped butter. It has dill and some other seasoning I couldn’t place. The salads we had with the house champagne vinaigrette. I recommend trying it if you like a little pepper with your salad. It was very refreshing. The kids meals we upped the sides to the risotto for both. This was the highlight of the table. If you like a creamy cheesy pasta(shaved parmigiano reggiano) then you must get it. Both my children devoured it. The kids grouper was fried nicely but a tad dry. Our pasta was the fra diavolo and was done excellently. The pasta itself was al dente and the shrimp were just firm enough to be perfectly done. The sauce had a slight heat to it but paired very well with the Malbec wine we ordered. After dinner we learned of the 3−5pm happy hour they had and went there the next day. I will say that this is were the service shined. Outside the bar was packed with snow birds, but the servers(Austin especially) made quick work around the tables to ensure no one was missed. They have a limited happy hour menu consisting of a pizza, oysters and some other some apps. They have wine and beer specials and live music as well. After spending an hour or two there, we may go back once more before the vacation ends! Definitely try the happy hour and stay for the food if you enjoy the atmosphere!

Went here for a late lunch today after being recommended by a local(always the way to find a great restaurant). We absolutely were not disappointed. The fresh catch of the day was delicious(I cannot remember the name at the moment). My daughter tried it grilled & I had it blackened as a sandwich, while my husband had his on a po’ boy. Our server, Michael, was good. He made great suggestions about the menu, then told us about the sister restaurant, Cosmos, and provided us with menus for both places! The only complaint(if you can call it that) we have was the cost of our appetizer. We ordered the crab claws which were market price. I did not expect them to be almost $ 20…even more than all of our individual meals. Overall, we absolutely suggest trying Cobalt. Happy hour specials are 3 – 5 everyday & worth a try

There is no reason now that this place is less than 6 stars. The honey mustard sauce on the barrelfish which I’ve never had was unbelievable. I pray only one day I can reverse engineer this heavenly crack of a sauce. The sautéed crabclaws had to have been marinated in stewed angel sauce because I actually got pissed at the waiter for letting me run out of bread to dip it in, and then I realized I was being a greedy ass. This place is perfect! I just wished no one else knew about it.

The ambiance and theme of this place is its charm. It’s so nice to have a long day on the beach then get dressed up and dine here. We went at 6:00 on a Friday fully expecting to wait at least half an hour for a table. When they offered us a table immediately outside we should have known better. Even with misting systems and fans everywhere, we spent our whole 2 hour dinner dripping sweat. Most of our food was really good except for one entrée that was grouper with tomato and sweet pea risotto. It just didn’t really come together very well. Other than that we were happy!

The oysters are average. It’s odd because even if you order half a dozen oysters, they come in disproportionate sizes. Some are about as tiny as a bug. Others are as big as the golf ball. Unfortunately, the bug-sized oysters are more in number. The baked oysters are hard and stale. The menu consists of mostly sandwiches and fried foods. We ordered the fried catfish with fries. The fries were good. The firecracker shrimp appetizer had a slight zing to it but it was way too rich and the portions were overpowering. By the time we made it to our entrée, the shrimp had made us full. And there was still more than half the dish left. The yellowfin tuna is really seared ahi tuna. It didn’t have much taste to it but the rice was delicious. It was almost drowned in a pool of sauce. The service wasn’t so great. They looked at me and my family like we didn’t belong. They never gave us any recommendations or any suggestions. They kind of stood there and stared at us. There was a brunch buffet that they failed to tell us about. We had to ask about a bunch of things before we hesitated on our choices. Even then, they looked at us like we were strange. The interior and architecture of the restaurant is beautiful. It’s perfect for a brunch or lunch event. If it’s your first time here though, don’t expect much luck with service.

Fantastic service, food, and view! Sat on patio with live band playing and misters overhead keeping us cool on the wharf in Orange Beach. Everything we tasted was excellent! Our waitress went out of her way and was incredibly friendly.
