We stopped here after a trip to the Biosphere for a late lunch. There was one other group in the restaurant besides us. The service was prompt and the atmosphere was decent. The food took a little bit, but it may have seemed that way because we were so hungry. The«small» calzones were huge. They come medium and large. Glad I didn’t order a bigger one. The pizza was great and my son loved the shrimp alfredo(his plate was empty). I would definitely go back if we are ever in Oracle again!

Oracle, Arizona. Tucked away up on the northern flanks of the Santa Catalina mountains. This time of year, at 4500 feet, it is still cold-even while the sun shines brightly. Ziggy the Adventure Pug and I had been exploring the high desert north of here, looking for wildflowers and wildlife. We were hungry. We were not interested in eating the trail mix and fruit I brought along, so we decided to shoot down to Oracle and see what was for lunch there. It’s been a good thirty years since I’ve been to Oracle. Things have changed. After blazing down 30 miles of dirt trail, we found ourselves on the highway heading in to Oracle. Driving through the town netted several vacant buildings that vaguely resembled restaurants, the ubiquitous Mexican restaurant(closed) a Steakhouse, a bar or two, and this place, De Marcos Pizzaria. In a town like Oracle, you never set your expectations too high, and since this appeared to be the only place open, we had no other choice, so we wheeled in to see what is on the menu. The parking lot had a few cars, and the patrons inside were a mix of retirees and a local family out to lunch. Looking over the menu, I was already sensing that we had just struck gold in this sleepy little hamlet. We were not up for a full-on Pizza, but this place has all the standard Italian favorites, Parmagiana’s, pasta’s, meatballs, hot subs, cold subs and other stuff. We settled on a Turkey Club sub and a glass of iced tea; the sub came with Ham and Roast Beef, cheese lettuce tomato and onion. They advertised homemade bread. Riding companion ordered a meatball sub. OMFG!(pardon the language). This sandwich came out on a homemade Focaccia, still slightly warm from the oven. The meats were fresh and cold, the lettuce cold and crispy. But that bread. Not only is it fresh, but delicious as well. Riding companion exclaimed about how good the meatball sub was as well. We were both in hog-heaven with this meal. Oh, and the iced tea was fresh and ice cold. A twelve-inch sub and iced tea set me back just over $ 11, not bad, and considering the quality, an awesome deal. Unilocal needs to come up with a GOLD five stars for places like this. Service was impeccable, food was out of this world good and that bread. I would drive there tomorrow just for some more of that fresh-baked bread. So, the next time you are visiting the Biosphere 2, don’t forget to head into town and give this place a whirl for lunch or dinner. This is a «Ziggy Approved» establishment.

Was craving pizza on a Sunday evening and, being in Oracle, wasn’t expecting to find much available. Was very happy to see DeMarco’s was open. Got a pizza to go and had a nice glass of chianti while I waited. Talked to the family, aka the staff, while I waited. Very friendly and helpful. Got my pizza, said thank you, and left. When I got home, my pizza was delish! An excellent crust and loads of good toppings. I’m looking forward to going back.

Great food and such a reasonable price. I recently went there with the family and I could not believe how large the portions were, how good the food was, and how cheap it was priced. If any one complains about the price then they aren’t the this of people that usually eat at quality restaurants.

The pepperoni pizza is awesome! I tried another non-pizza meal there and wasn’t impressed, but the pepperoni pizza alone warrants 4 stars.

I wish this place was local to me as I’d swing by here for so many things. I really enjoyed the strombolli — a giant pizza dough filled sandwich with sauce, ham, salami and pepperoni. It fed me two times. Others at my table had sandwiches that looked amazing. Others got a full meal and the bread that came with their meal, oh dear, carbolicious. The pizza on the table was thin crusted and looked very appetizing. Again, I wish I had this hidden gem near me.

Large pepperoni pizza with chicken wings for $ 15!!! YESSSSS and on top of that a thin crust? DOUBLEYES!!! We ended up taking home more than half of the pizza. The people working here are very nice and after getting messy in the pepper sauce caves, this was a great choice!

This place is touted as an italian food restaurant. The italian is ok. Thier pizza is better. What really shines is thier sandwiches. Home made bread makes these creative concoctions stand out. There are many variations of sandwiches from hot to cold. The service is slow but very friendly. I get most of my orders to go because the interior is not much to look at nor are the chairs any bit of comfort.

De Marcos has personality. Situated in Oracle, a small mountain town dating from 1880, located in Pinal County, 30 miles north of Tucson. It’s on the slopes of the Santa Catalina Mountains at an elevation of 4500 feet. The restaurant is impeccable and service is prompt and friendly. It’s a jewel of a restaurant! They have a website showing menus with prices. Their desert menu has a nice selection. You can’t spend more than $ 8 for a huge breakfast, and the balance of their menu is affordable..
