Tenko

Great sushi for a great price! We’ve never gone wrong with Tenko. I’d also recommend the hibachi. Choose your flavor, they’ll add the rice and veggies. And if you’re in the mood for an appetizer, go with chicken on a stick!

I am surprised that this place remains open. Very mediocre taste. I do NOT recommend.

For value you cannot beat Tenko in the Opelika/​Auburn area.
The food is prepared to order in an open kitchen immediately behind the seating area. The food is fresh and tasty. The servings are large and the prices are very low. The sushi is very good and very inexpensive — they could double the prices and still be modestly priced compared to other sushi places in the OA area. We go about 3 times a month. The last time we went we weren’t very hungry. We had two small entrée’s and drinks. They gave us complimentary spring rolls. With tax and 20% tip we were out of there for (I kid you not) $ 13.65.
We always eat in but they seem to do a good take out business while we are there.
The young couple that owns Tenko are from China. He cooks and she waits tables. They both work hard and take pride in their place. Depending on the size of your order they bring you complimentary menu items in addition to your order.
If you are considering trying a new place, go to Tenko. You won’t be disappointed and you’ll go back on your own. All of the friends we have sent there keep going back.

The layout of the restaurant is strange. There is empty space in the middle of the restaurant with a random tree in the center. All the tables are against the wall. When you walk in, you have to walk across this empty space as everyone stares at you, past the random tree, then you arrive at the counter to order your food.
The sushi here is ungodly cheap. I ordered an 8-​roll Jade Roll that came out to $ 5. Not even Kroger does sushi that inexpensively. The employees cook the food to order and you get it really fast so the wait time is minimal. As a tip for referring to the menu, don’t point to the pictures to specify you want. They told me all of the pictures on the menu were decoration and they don’t know what they actually are. I thought that was funny.

Love this place! I live around 5 minutes away, so I visit often because of convenience. I also visit often because the food and the prices are great!!! See menu & prices in the photos. I highly recommend the fried shrimp roll and cream cheese roll. I order these almost every time we visit. One of my favorite things on the menu would have to be the steamed dumplings. They are always steamed perfectly, never gummy or chewy. The hibachi options are always fresh and delicious. The beef hibachi is served with broccoli, onions, zucchini and a side of fried rice. Their service is always great. The place is owned by a couple, and they are the only workers. Most of the time, the restaurant is not full, but there are always people coming in to pick up take-​out orders.
There is a red box next door outside of Winn-​Dixie, so this place is a perfect option for picking up take-​out and a movie on a Friday night.
