My boyfriend picked up some take-out sushi and it was pretty odd looking when I opened it up. We normally always get spicy tuna and spicy salmon anyplace we have sushi. But I’ve never had it like it was made here. The roll had nothing but cucumber inside and then on top was a slice of fish and then it was covered in sriracha. Not appealing at all! We wiped off most of the sriracha. The MexiCali roll we received might as well been a plain rice roll too, the filling wasn’t even the size of my pinky finger. The other rolls we got were ok, nothing spectacular. My boyfriend said they were really friendly. They were also about to close so they probably just wanted to leave but no excuse for the strange spicy rolls! They might have had a new sushi chef or something. who knows. Considering I didn’t care for their buffet either, I don’t know if I’d return to have more.

I like coming here for the lunch buffet. I like how there is even sushi on the buffet line and that it also includes a salad and soup. For the price it’s definitely worth it

A pleasant surprise! Passing through and spent the night in Chattanooga. Mr. Totto’s was one of a few non-fast-food restaurants in the vicinity of our hotel. Entered with low expectations. Left gruntled. Bento boxes are a good value.

We go here from time to time. It’s pretty good. The lunch buffet is a good deal at $ 10 but it’s pretty expensive at supper. The only complaint at lunch is that they aren’t good about keeping the sushi out and u have to wait for them to refill it

Normally when you go to Japanese restaurants you leave hungry but not this place. My friends and I ordered the bento boxes and it was extremely filling. My friends even had leftovers. Also I was very pleased with the variety of vegetarian options they had.

Love this place! While it doesn’t look like much from the outside, it is very nice inside and is some of the best sushi I have ever had. We have been a few times now and love the three rolls for $ 12.95 deal. The sushi is great — even their more basic rolls(Philadelphia roll, spicy tuna roll, etc) are very flavorful and different(they use siracha in their spicy tuna roll for example — yum!). You can tell everything is very fresh. And everyone who works here is so nice! Definitely recommend.

If you’re just looking for some normal pan-Asian type food, you’ll be happy here. If you’re looking for a quality sushi or Japanese food experience, you will not find it here. Everything tastes fine, it’s just not quality Japanese food. It’s a bit over-priced for the quality of the food. I guess you’re just paying for the atmosphere. Recommended for: people who don’t have much experience with Asian food and are just looking for a change Not recommended for: foodies or true sushi-lovers

My mom and I went to dinner on a Thursday night. I ordered the 3 rolls for $ 12.75 which is really good for 18+ pieces of sushi. Our waiter was nice but it seemed as if every one was trying to get their closing side work for the night done. The sushi chef was absolutely hilarious. He made pretty good rolls and was singing the songs that came on the speakers. The sushi rolls were a little bit smaller than I’m used to. The manager was very attentive, probably more than our waiter. There weren’t chopsticks on the table so I had to ask for those, extra sauce and the manager suggested I tried this«sweet and spicy sauce,» more like let me set your mouth on fire the rest of your visit. It’s decently priced. Our bill with tip included was $ 30 even. Overall a good first experience but I’d suggest coming in early so you don’t have people rolling silverware and filling soy sauce containers around you.

Fantastic food & I think great service! My first time doing takeout from this place. Was very prompt and quick. I could tell they really take care to package and prepare take out very professionally. Food was well and tasted great. Enjoyed by chicken and salmon. Comes with a soup and salad and had to say it was all real good Price and checkout was good.

Good tasting sushi, but a little small in size. I wish they give free soup and salad while waiting for my order like some of the Japanese restaurants I’ve been in.

What Happened. The Sunday buffet used to be soooo good. Today the sushi was terrible. Mostly vegetable only sushi and the one choice with seafood on it was covered in so much sauce that was all you could taste. The buffet selection used to be so good and today it left us so disappointed. The sushi was made in very small rolls and they didn’t bring out any new rolls the entire time we were there. Restaurant was so cold inside that one couple left without ordering(the manager was walking around with a heavy coat on). Did this place change owners or management?

I’m shocked by the high praise for this place. We had even heard great reviews from friends about Mr.Totto. How disappointing. My sweetie and I went on an obviously slow Monday night and were one of only 3 tables in the whole place. Service was CRAZY slow(and we had to laugh when one of the servers took our sushi to another table, they refused it and then she couldn’t figure out where to deliver it. Really?) And the sushi was sub-par at best. It wasn’t send-back quality, but it surely wasn’t anything that made us need to drive on back out to Ooltewah. No umami, no oomph to really any of the rolls– Just blah.

This place is amazing. The service is great, the restaurant is clean, and the food is delicious. I especially love how they cook the fried rice, it’s different than anywhere else and so good. For what it is, you can hardly do better.

This is the first Japanese restaurant we’ve visited in Chattanooga. We tried it out because it was highly rated. The rating is accurate. The outside it typical non-fancy, no outdoor seating or anything like that. We visited around 7:30PM on a Friday and there was no wait, nice. The atmosphere is pretty decent the décor was Japanese style and it was cool. The only thing I would have changed would have been to lower the lights. There were a couple of dudes making sushi and we didn’t order any but I think I will next time as it looked pretty good. I ordered some Korean meat dish that had a lot of onions and it was awesome. The fried rice wasn’t my style, I should have ordered the white rice. There was a soup that came with the meal and it was a pretty basic soup but it was delicious. Our waiter was pretty good, made you feel at home and didn’t hover. If you’re in the area I recommend checking it out.

Great restaurant for lunch and dinner. Lunch Buffett has soup, salad, sushi, fried appetizers, and hibachi. Usually there are about 7 – 8 sushi options. Buffett Line is always being refilled and is usually kept fresh. Update: Buffet price has been increased to over $ 10. Service Has been great each time I have been. Inside décor is clean and more up-scale than the exterior appears. Definitely can’t go wrong choosing Mr. Totto.

My husband and I finally visited this little restaurant. I really didn’t have high expectations since it has the appearance of a sort of restaurant chain set in a shopping center. To my delight, once inside, it has it’s own little personality with a quiet, welcoming atmosphere(although it was late and about an hour from their closing time). Our server, after what I’m sure was a long day for her, greeted us with a smile and pleasant attitude. I ordered sushi and my husband ordered the recommended teriyaki chicken. The sushi was delicious! .and I’m picky about my sushi! However… after tasting my husbands teriyaki chicken, I almost wished I had ordered that! The flavor of the healthy sized portion was outstanding with a unique smoky teriyaki flavor. Loved it! Count me as a regular at this quaint little gem. I can’t wait to try the rest of their menu!

Nice restaurant. It’s kinda dark inside which goes with the atmosphere. The buffet is small and they even have a bar. The food is really good and you get what you pay for. Expect to spend some money to eat here.

This place has done me no wrong, I’ve ordered sushi and teriyaki chicken and I’ve never been disappointed. The service is always friendly and fast. The food is amazing. I never feel like the food is just thrown on the plate and it tastes as good as it looks

This has been my go-to sushi place for 3 years now. It use to be called Tako Yaki but was taken over by Mr. Totto which owns another sushi place in Cleveland. Luckily for you most of the menu has remained the same and I haven’t noticed the quality suffer. Since the new management has taken over they’ve expanded a section to the right and also began doing a buffet for the lunch crowd. I’ve taken advantage of the lunch buffet once and it was standard fare and a great value. My usual order is the pick 3 sushi combo where you can pick two basic sushi rolls and then a third specialty roll from a list of about 25 choices. The quality of the fish is the best in the area unless you want to travel downtown and even then I find it very comparable. Save yourself the long trip and stop in here instead! They also have some really great udon if you’re feeling like soup(I just wish they wouldn’t put the breaded shrimp inside to get soggy!). The waiters/waitresses here are extraordinarily nice and friendly. If you become a regular like myself they will remember you(I often get small appetizers for free).

This place was delicious. The prices when we went were slightly cheaper than their online menu said(but only by about .50 or $ 1), but their portions for their entrees are really big and worth the price. The atmosphere is nice– I particularly liked the samurai sword by the sushi chefs. Though it appears like a chain on the outside, it’s very cute and individual on the inside. The staff was very attentive and nice. I’ll definitely be returning at sometime.
