I hear this place has a lot of omahaian history in the atmosphere. Something about a race track. I don’t know about all of that but I do know that they have pretty good fried chicken. The sign out front beckons you to come in and try the world’s best chicken at least once. Went here on NYE and it was easy to get into. The service was kind of slow but the crew was downright friendly.

This place has excellent wings and crinkle cut fries with a good seasoning. My wings were crisp and rendered and well sauced. I opted for pickled jalapenos to be added for more heat… and that was a good move. These are very good wings done the traditional way. I will have to come back here for broasted chicken, which they promote quite heavily on the menu.

As far as drinking goes, Tracks is about average. Food is a different story though! This place has the best food I’ve ever found in a bar!

This is strictly a comment on the rude service. Went there to grab lunch and a drink and the bartender was just plain rude and unwelcoming. We did not even stick around to try lunch. We were disappointed as we had heard good things but service had better be as good if not better than the food when i go out. Went down the road for a great lunch and had a super nice waitress.

Surprise! Great wings! MARGARITAS… Chicken. Not your regular bar food. Scott the bar tender knows how to make some great drinks and fun to talk with. Fresh and good takes about 15 minutes. Enough time for and awesome drink. Wings are a bit hi but not frozen junk. Nice customers also always fun to start conversation with.

Really friendly bar staff, nice little, «divey» old house location. Wings were decent, well-cooked and spicy.

Dog friendly patio! It’s so nice to have a neighborhood bar that allows us to bring our dog! Drinks are good too!

Solid(divey) bar serving up some great wings and fried chicken for the area. I think usually they only serve the fried chicken for a dinner option, however they were nice enough to fry me up a batch at 1pm on a Saturday to take home and try. Pricewise, I wouldn’t call them cheap, wings come in sets of 5. I did 5 garlic parm and 5 traditional buffalo along with the fried chicken. Nothing disappointed. Crispy skin on the chicken and sauce was not too over powering, salty, or vinegary. I think my total was around $ 23 with the 2 piece fried chicken meal, so I think each wing comes close to $ 1? A few TVS to catch the game, clean tables, and prompt service earns this joint 4 stars in my book.

I hadn’t been to this spot since it was called the Trackside. Aside from a little name alteration, it apparently hasn’t changed much at all. It’s dark, small, divey and neighborhood-watering-hole-cozy. I came specifically to try their wings. I played it safe and ordered the sweet bbq. The wings were good, but not great. I kind of felt they were cutting corners. By default, they gave me super-runny ranch dressing. This paired with the two smallest pieces of celery on Earth. What kind of perplexed me was the fact that the wings come in orders of five instead of six. That means you’ll either get more drumettes or wingettes. I’m a fan of both, so it didn’t bother me, but I know this might seriously irk some other people(for the record, I got an extra wingette). So yeah, the wing experience here seemed a little skimpy to me. I’d happily pay and extra dollar or two for six wings, thick cuts of celery and some house made ranch or blue cheese to dip them in. On another note, one of my fellow Unilocalers ordered some fried chicken and it looked/smelled fantastic. I’m going that route next time. Overall, I did like the vibe of Tracks and will definitely be back.

Given the hype surrounding this place I was expecting more, but for what it is this place is quite good. A striking building, small but comfortable. Service was rather slow but the chicken is indeed awesome.

Tracks is easily my favorite bar in Omaha, which is saying something. They have the best fryer and their Mac and cheese bites are phenomenal. The cheese curds are the best around. The chicken is the best in the game too. If you’re there to watch your baseball or basketball team on tv? They’ll accommodate to you as well. I absolutely love this bar and feel like it’s a second home to me. Whether you’re up there for just a night cap, dinner or a night with your friends, this is THE Aksarben spot. The juke box is great, the crowd makes it, and regardless who is behind the bar, you’re guaranteed to have a great server. There’s nothing quite like sitting out on 60th on the patio with my closest friends. Oh, and for all the females out there… The bathroom is clean and the door shuts! Sign up for their loyal customer card if uo plan on being here a lot. Every $ 100 spent = free drink(yippee!)

I had not been here since the remodel. Stopped by with co-workers for lunch. Apparently, they do not see much lunch crowd because it felt like the place just opened and the one bartender/waiter was still setting. However, he persevered and gave us great service. Ordered the chicken and was happily surprised. Not a huge fried chicken fan but this stuff was good. Light, crispy batter… with maybe bread crumbs… very good. I would like to check out the night scene but definitely will be returning for more chicken.

There are rare occasions when a restaurant or bar which has an established history is taken over by new ownership and continues its tradition. It is even more rare when this happens and the business gets better this is the case with Tracks(Trackside)…need I say more!

The chicken was perfectly cooked crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside seasoned to perfection. The crackle cut French fries were not overdone the coleslaw was good as well.

We love Tracks! It has a great neighborhood feel and the service has always been super friendly and quick. The broasted chicken does take a little bit of time but it is totally worth the wait, especially paired with the sweet potato fries, yum! Have been there at least 5 times now and will continue to stop in for a beer or dinner since it’s always a great experience!

Came in because they’ve been known for their fried chicken, so I decided to give it a try. Be warned though, because they fry the chicken when you order it, so hungry souls might need to wait about 20 – 30 minutes for some food. In the end the food was average. Good, but so if KFC or Popeyes, minus the wait. Broasted chicken, but so is Bakers. Would visit again, maybe, since it’s on the way home

This place has good vibes all around. A nice, simple Aksarben neighborhood watering hole that also serves some of the best bar food you could come by. I was so lucky as to stop there on a Monday night which apparently is wing night(50 cents/wing!!!). We tried their regular hot wings and some jalapeño grilled wings. Both were cooked perfectly and the wings were of ample size! Delicious. I would be hard pressed to find comparable wings around town for that price. Next, I got their fried chicken, which they boast as being«The Worlds Best». While I don’t know so much about that, the fried chicken was indeed pretty great and also perfectly cooked. The fries I got as a side were not an afterthought, as they are at so many bars that just happen to also serve food. Perfectly crisp with some sort of herb-like seasoning(was that a dusting of parmesan I tasted?) My friend ordered a buffalo chicken wrap from them and had nothing but good things to say about it as well. I’ve been in here a few times for drinks but never had tried their food. I must say that it is clear that they care about the food they serve to their drunk patrons and they don’t seem to slag off at all in any of the items that I tried that evening. I will most definitely be back to try out their chili next time, which is rumored to be pretty legit.

Food – Small menu, but I do think most places try to do too many dishes. Stick to what you can do well. Track’s does that. Moist, juicy broasted chicken(I wouldn’t say it’s the best I’ve ever tasted… or the best in the world… but good), decent burgers, and refreshing homemade coleslaw. Bar food at its finest. They boast about their homemade cocktails(no mixes apparently) but I didn’t find anything that suited by fancy so I went with an oatmeal porter that was slammin. We went on a Wednesday night, and didn’t realize that we’d be treated to free entertainment. :) A local band came in after a while. I’d never heard of them, but they were pretty good! The guy serving our food was nice but didn’t portray a service attitude at all. I don’t mind casual, but he didn’t make us a priority. We didn’t feel like we were the reason he was there… he seemed more interested in hanging out with coworkers and texting. That’s really the low point of this experience. Location – It wasn’t hard really to find, but I did go around the block because I wasn’t sure it was the right place. It is indeed next to Jonsey’s Tacos.

Just to clear up any preliminary confusion, Track’s = Trackside. The neighborhood bar originally est. 1965 is back and better than ever. Though since this was a total dive before, it wouldn’t really take much. You know you’ve had some good times at a bar when you have the following conversation while sitting in the newly remodeled Track’s sipping beers and checking out the renovation. You: I wonder if they fixed the bathroom door in the ladies room? Remember how you needed to always have someone hold it closed for you? Friend: What? I rest my case. Trackside was just… that place. The place you go to when it’s late at night, you’re nearly home, but tying one on suddenly sounds like a better idea. My ultimate Trackside story happened years ago now, and is probably too racy for a food blog. Suffice to say there was some solicitation involved — which I politely declined.(Complimentary though it was). Another fond memory included singing karaōke with our wedding party after a stop at the 20’s club until the bartender bribed us to leave by selling us a case of bud light. Those were the kinds of things that happened at Trackside. But what now, when the idea of staying out past 10pm has suddenly lost its appeal to me? Has the new Tracks matured with us? In short… YES. I can’t compare the food from before, because usually by the time we rolled in here the kitchen had long closed. According to their Unilocal description, though, they have the«world’s best chicken» and roast beef sandwiches. We started with some buffalo chicken balls. Basically just orbs of blue cheese and chicken fried up nice and crispy. These were definitely a winner. I wonder how many I could eat. Unfortunately we were only allotted four. Next time maybe order more… or come for happy hour when they’re just $ 2.99 for an order! Speaking of which, HH is 3−6pm with $ 3 wells and beer. Also, pickle cards for all domestic beers! Not sure what the difference is between fried chicken and broasted chicken, but either way it’s delicious. Too hot to eat when it first arrived, I dug in anyway… nearly burning my fingers trying to get at that moist perfectly cooked chicken, stopping only to shove more fries in my face. Then a Jolly Rancher appeared under my fries. Was it supposed to be there or did someone accidentally drop it on my plate? Who cares, it’s blue and we all know that’s a good flavor. I ate it and appear to be no worse for the wear because of it. This isn’t the kind of food you feel especially good about after eating, but it’s enjoyable if you know what you’re getting into. And I’ll definitely be getting into it again. Just writing this gets me in the mood for bar food, actually.
