i have to confess, i went back to Mama’s for more pizza and finished the last of it for lunch today and i’m sad now. i just really love their original hamburger pizza. its perfect. its crust is perfect, its toppings are perfect. it also reheats perfect. with my spotty childs memory i THOUGHT we had the pizza from here before, but unlike the other places i do remember going i don’t know if it was purely takeout or if Mama’s existed from the 1970’s on and i am confusing it with another place. all i know is i love this pizza and its so close to my new place i just don’t care. its also really affordable.

Great pizza and onion rings. Made a big mistake ordering the wings. The quality of the wings were very bad. Buy the pizza and bring home tanners/oscars wings on the way home.

We love mama’s pizza and nice to see a home town favorite continue to do a good job. This is our favorite place for good pizza, especially when we have a group of us. They give you plenty of toppings and cheese. The crust is just right, not too thin or thick. This is not a fancy restaurant, as you do go up to the counter to order your food and drink. However they are fast and friendly.

I have ate mama’s pizza for over 10 years and i must say that something has changed! The crust was thin, little cheese and flavor as well. Service was marginal at best. Unsure what happened to our favorite pizza place but it has been officially replaced by Mangia’s! Hate to leave you Mama’s but you have failed.

I’m new to the Omaha area and live near this place. I thought I’d give it a shot as I’ve tried a few different pizza shops and have been disappointed(Zios.blah, Big Fred’s…meh just ok). To my surprise, this was actually a pretty good pizza! I mean, not the absolute best pizza I’ve ever had but crust was good, sauce was a little bland, toppings and cheese were awesome. By far one of the best pizzas I’ve found in Omaha thus far. Would definitely go back. Ordered carryout, they told me would be ready in 20 mins, picked up in 17. Can’t say boo to anything. All was good! Kudos Mama’s will be back.

Very disappointed that my salad had ham in it like seriously it’s a house salad not a fat salad.

Mama’s Pizza is an Omaha classic. I grew up on Mama’s pizza on Saddle Creek. I now prefer this location on 156th and Pacific. Service is quick, the restaurant is clean, and they really know how to frost a beer mug! We always get the same thing so I can’t speak much to their whole menu but the Mama’s Combo is always a good choice for supreme pizza. The Margherita pizza is simple, as it should be, and very good. The onion rings are probably my favorite part! They are fresh and you can tell they aren’t frozen from a bag. A great place for family get togethers and big groups. Lots to choose from on the menu besides pizza as well!

Mama’s is definitely and old school family favorite. Wife and I had the all meat pizza and BBQ Chicken. Both were excellent. The only knock on our experience were some of the parents who allowed their kids to act out of control by running around screaming, knocking over the booster seats stacked against the wall, and playing in the middle of the floor(walkway). But, the food was still like it used to be, great! The huge wall size screens with sports was a definite plus. Like a Buffalo Wild Wings, but with pizza!

We have moved to Omaha from Connecticut which mostly has New York style pizza: thin crust which has been tossed and then baked, often in a wood-fired oven. We were told Mama’s was THE best Omaha had, and since we love pizza it was the first we tried. We went to the original Saddle Creek location. We joke about it a lot. The crust tasted like smashed down biscuits. We had each ordered a small. We both brought home more than half. We threw away my husband’s but I gave mine to a relative who also was new to Omaha but isn’t from the East, thinking that she might have different expectations. Her comment was, «This isn’t pizza crust.» Re the atmosphere and service, we didn’t care as we were there for the pizza. We continue our quest for good pizza in Omaha.

I enjoy going to Mamma’s. Pizza is good, not great but very good. All other menu items are good especially if you enjoy the occasional goulash. Best in Omaha! Good food … good atmosphere… a winner!

We were staying overnight in West Omaha. Looked at Unilocal for recommendations, and I should have paid attention to some of the worst ones. We ordered pizza to go on the phone. They had it ready, and kept it warm, but that’s as far as it goes. The young girls were busy chatting at the front desk to notice that there were three customers waiting for their takeout. We got bland, tasteless greasy pizza, with a thick, soggy crust. There was too much of everything, except sauce. A medium pie for $ 22.00 was inedible. We brought it to the front desk clerk, who was excited about getting this pizza. He’s 19. I should have gone to Mama’s or Griosanti’s. There was a heck of a crowd in the restaurant, so somebody likes it, or they don’t east the pizza.

My wife and I travel a lot, we currently live in Amsterdam, but lived in Omaha most our lives, and had friends from other parts of the world visit us in Omaha, because of this we used to play this game of sorts over the years, it didn’t have a name, but this is how it goes. If someone was traveling to Omaha from another country and they had 2 meals, or 4 meals, or whatever in Omaha, where would you send them to eat. Well one place was the Drover. Freaky old interior design, classic steaks, was a hit with friends from Ireland who we had a hard time getting into the restaurant as they were fascinated with the giant trucks in the parking lot. Another was Mexican food, but we always debated where to take people since Mexican food has so many variations. Another one was Pizza. Yes Pizza is everywhere in the world, but for me Omaha pizza is unique. It’s hard to put my finger on it. It something about the crust, the sauce, the cheese, maybe the«beef» which is a rare topping(did you know corn is a favorite topping on pizza in many places in the world, come on Nebraska! Corn and Beef would be great together and nothing would say«Nebraska» like that combination!). I have never quite had anything similar to Omaha Pizza. This type of pizza, which I call«Omaha Style» is produced by old school pizza places in Omaha, specifically Johnny Sortino’s, Big Fred, and my favorite(though I like them all) is Mama’s.(Sgt Peffers, Zio’s, and La Casa I do not consider«Omaha Style», they are something different). I find that both Mama’s on Saddle Creek and West Omaha locations to be consistent in quality. I love the sauce, the crust is soft but not doughy(though if you eat in, the crust comes out crisp, but withing 5 minutes or so is soft), the cheese which is put on in slices is kind of crispy. My mother who lives in San Antonio doesn’t like pizza, but whenever she would visit us in Omaha would request one meal at Mama’s. We have been in Amsterdam almost a year now and have been back to Omaha twice. On those visits back we have eaten at only a handfull of places, and the only two places we ate at both time were Nettie’s and Mama’s… Oh how I miss Mama’s and«Omaha Style Pizza»

I admit it. I don’t LOVE pizza. And, when DO I want pizza, I’m typically whipping up my own magic, on a grill, out in the backyard with beer in hand so I can make it to my exact specifications. Nonetheless, sometimes a girl’s gotta have pizza(actually, a girl’s companions gotta have pizza) and not have to cook, in which case Mama’s is one of our«go to» places in Omaha. OK, so slightly odd at first that all of the ingredients are placed on the sauce, on the crust and the cheese is on top until you start eating the 18-lb comb slice and realize there’s a method to the madness. Also slightly odd that they slice the large pizza into squares, but when you’re a non-crust eater like me, super happy that they do the kindergarten cutting situation. The cheese baked atop will keep all of that goodness IN rather than pulling off with every bite so that you’re left with a half a slice of sauced up bread, so I totally get it. I recommend starting off with the onion rings(battered, not breaded) and springing for the house sauce(which is some fatty, garlicky, creamy delicious). The rings come out piping hot, so be careful and try not to burn your taste buds off. Depending on how busy it is, your food might be delivered to the table or your number might be called at the counter. West O location doesn’t have the same ambiance(and by ambiance, I remember 20 years ago when the Saddle Creek location had carpeted walls), but the service is good, the food is solid and the prices are not unexpected. One order of onion rings to feed a family of 10 with a side of house sauce, one medium combo pizza and two sodas for our lunch for three — slightly less than $ 20 without tip.

We had a large family get-together at Mama’s pizza and loved it. The atmosphere was perfect for our large family including children ages 4& up. The pizza was yummy and everyone enjoyed it. Will definitely go here again next time were are in the area!

It isn’t good. We didn’t get anything special: cheese pizza, fried mushrooms, and wings to go. Can’t comment on atmosphere and service – just the food.

I have to laugh at some of the other reviews of this place. This is not a 5 star steakhouse and it is not advertised as such either! It’s a pizza joint. What were you expecting? It is family friendly, which means there will be kids. Pizza places attract kids, duh. I have never seen them running around. Also, as far as being salty and compared to frozen, I have a low tolerance for both and totally dis-agree with that reviewer. Especially after there was a Zio’s reference. I don’t care for Zio’s pizza. As far as a cafeteria reference, I find it no different than other pizza eateries. Remember it’s just pizza. Although they do have several other items on the menu. I just go for the great pizza and appetizers. Now for the good from me. I love the pizza, onion ring’s, fried pickle’s and especially the WAFFLE fries. The place is always packed and the take-out line is always busy! I eat at nearby Hector’s frequently and when we look over at Mama’s, it is always packed. They must be doing something right. I also don’t mind serving myself but sometimes they do wait on you. It must depend on the staff. Don’t know and don’t care. Not a deal breaker. We’ll be back! Keep doing what you’re doing! P. S. I live in Fremont and have no connection’s to this place. Just like telling it how it is from a working man’s perspective.

I love this place. I only get back to Omaha once or twice a year these days but ALWAYS make sure to stop by here. I think the pizza is some of the best I have ever had. Plentiful toppings, great sauce, and a thin crust is a perfect combination. Also, if your really hungry, order their onion rings. You won’t be dissapointed!
