This place is fun. The first time I ever came here they had a sign outside promoting a display and we thought«hey it’s air conditioned». Really good art to come look at and really, you have no reason not to. I’m excited to go there for game night some time!

I was at Kaneko for The New Harmonic:(Ben Phelp’s) Six Ways to be Alone, Directed by Vimbayi Kaziboni(a Millard West grad) which was packed into Space 6(the NE second floor), in fact there were probably more people standing than they had chairs. This room had better acoustics than I would have ever expected. Unfortunately they were in the middle of a change in exhibits, from Olson Kundig to Fiber, and only a few pics came out any good to try to explain this space. From the outside this place still feels like Jobbers Canyon, even Jones St feels like ti is over 100 years old, but once you get inside you are in a different world. You can tell that a lot of attention has been given to creating museum space, letting in just enough natural light to make the place feel warm and non-industrial. I really had no idea how much of a gem this place has turned into, I hope to be back real soon!

A world-class cultural organization that promotes creativity and the creative process in unique and interesting ways. And it’s also the studio of world renowned artist Jun Kaneko, who turned his turn-of-the-century warehouse studio and storage space into this public gathering space. And as of late, the Kaneko is about to expand, adding a modern entryway to the north side of the property. There are also plans for a brand new building to be built on the southeast corner of 11th and Leavenworth streets to permanently display many of Kaneko’s works. I was recently given a tour of the space by Kaneko’s program director. Expansive raw spaces are used for gallery exhibitions and events such as Big Omaha and TEDx talks. Not only that, there’s a branch of the UNO library that houses many unique books focusing on creativity. The space is open to the public during the day, so stop by and check out the current exhibit(s) the next time you’re in the Old Market and need to a break from shopping, wining and dining.

Came here for big omaha 2013. Loved the space and didn’t have any issues with temperature(I’m usually very cold-blooded) or bathrooms. Loved the flow and exhibits. Parking was $ 5 a few blocks away.
