I am one to say that customer service can make or break a place. The food can be outstanding but the service sucks, I’m not going to want to come back. If the food is average, but the service is great, I am more likely to go back. On this occasion the service was fairly sucky. I stood at the menu to decide the sides to get hubby and then went up to the counter. The lady behind it just stared at me.(This was Thursday the 29th of November), not one word came out of her, mouth. At least ask me if its to stay or go lady, or Hi can I help you would be nice). awkward silence and then I just started telling her what I wanted. she did not say a word when I rambled off what I wanted, which really put me off. Not a anything else? Is this to go? any sauces would you like? nothing! I did order chicken strips for my son and a guy walking by heard it and yelled back to the fry guys to put chicken strips down. oh someone speaks !!!. Now for the food, I ordered the open face brisket sandwich which was not good. Tasted like pot roast that someone put in the crock pot all day without any seasoning. I put it in the trash after a few bites. My son ate his chicken strips but the macaroni and cheese I ordered for him went in the trash. It really did not look good, so I couldn’t blame him. Hubby liked his,(pulled pork, beans and potato salad), and that is why I was generous to give 3 stars, only for his food sake. I will not order for me again, and if hubby wants it he can go inside and deal with it. They were not busy at all, which makes me wonder …

Pros: Super friendly staff. Reasonable prices. Delicious BBQ. Decent portions. Clean. Cons: no beer. But frankly, it’s just as easy to get it to go and grab beer at any of the nearby gas stations.

Not impressed… below averaged taste… the food should taste as enticing as the aroma but it falls short… disappointing…not a good value for your food dollars

Went here probably the first week it was open. Service was top notch. Got a rack of ribs with mashed potatoes and Mac and Cheese. The mashed potatoes and gravy were probably instant, but the highlight of the meal. Mac and Cheese was pretty good also. The ribs seemed like they were done correctly, but the quality of the meat was just not good and no matter how you prepare it, it’s never going to be right. I left most of it as I was honestly a bit worried about it making me ill.

Omaha knows it’s BBQ and Hog Wild is it’s ambassador to food greatness. Slow cooked and melts in your mouth. Being from the east coast, I wanted midwest authenticity in terms of flavor. I definitely got it here. This would be my #1BBQ stop if I didn’t live so far away. Well done!

C’mon…give this place a break! It’s fast food or good food fast. Plentiful portion, fresh, hot, and flavorful. For me, it hit the spot and fast!

I stopped in here for a weekday lunch on a Wednesday in July. This place is pretty popular and can get a bit busy. They only have 12 parking spaces, so good luck with that. You order at the counter and your food is brought out at another counter when they holler your number. This place is actually a regional chain with 11 different locations(mostly in Kansas). BBQ is served with sauce on it. That’s generally considered a no-no by BBQ aficionados. Typically, BBQ is only served sauced when the a place is trying to hide a weak flavor or dryness in the meat. The meat should stand alone and saucing, or not, should be up to the customers by default. Ribs are meaty. Bark is bland. They need a different meat rub for the ribs to give a nice glazed tasty bark. Smoke ring is there, but smoke flavor is not(how odd). These could have just as easily been seared on a grill and then slow cooked in an oven and produced the same results as far as taste goes. They just don’t taste like they were slow cooked in a smoke pit for several hours. Pulled pork is juicy but not particularly flavorful. Chicken only comes as pulled chicken. Why? No ¼ or ½ chickens to be ordered and consumed here. I find that odd. Are you not confident in your chicken as a whole or are you having bad results with the skin or what? Hot Links have a bit of a kick to them. Which they should. That’s why they’re called HOT links. So many BBQ places try to pass off smoked sausage as hot links. There IS a difference. These are pretty good. Not too crazy on the heat. Sort of a crowd pleaser heat. Beans are good. Mac-n-Cheese is disappointing. It’s basically Stouffer’s(or some knock-off brand). It’s like every restaurant in the world got together and decided their mac-n-cheese was going to have the same taste, texture, and color and now that’s all you can get anywhere. Whatever happened to the wonderful made from scratch mac-n-cheese that uses real cream and cheese and is oven-baked? If I wanted food made from a box then I would just cook at home. I come to a restaurant for something better. They have two BBQ sauces on the table. A mild and a hot. The hot isn’t overwhelmingly hot, so don’t be intimidated and give it a try. Both have a good flavor. Fresh-brewed Iced Tea is good. Clean and well-maintained. Visually, a huge improvement over the Asian restaurant that used to occupy this space. Best two BBQ joints in the Omaha area are still Hartland BBQ in Benson and Swine Dining BBQ in Bellevue.

Damn good bbq! I had the pulled pork sandwich with fries and my wife had some kind of salad ensemble. I can’t say I’m familiar with eating salads as a main course at restaurants, but my wife said it was good. It was visually appealing, though. The pork and their Hot bbq sauce made for a superb meal on our first visit to this joint. We will return to sample other items on the menu when the mood strikes. As far as negatives, the parking is less than optimal and I have a serious aversion to country music. In fact, that genre of music is a reason I avoid some places. This place has good enough food for return visits, but no one should be subjected to twangy torture while they’re trying to enjoy some serious chow.

Went through the drive through for some BBQ at lunchtime and I have to say I was thoroughly disappointed. The service was so-so, not very pleasant or friendly but no one insulted me either. The major let down was the brisket. Pretty dry, not very tender, and honestly not very smoky. The pulled chicken was an even bigger let down. Very dry meat with little discernible flavor. I didn’t eat much of the chicken I ordered. The order also had big lumps of fat and skin just on the side. Yuck. The sauce was the only good point… the hot sauce had a decent smokiness to it and a nice kick. The mild sauce was good too, nondescript but decent in flavor.

First off, parking is horrible here. I often have had to park at the strip mall with Valentinos across the street. The meat is often dry, and they pour their choice of sauce on it. I like the idea I get to pick the sauce, plus it seems as if they’re hiding the quality of the meat by doing this. The pulled meats are often dry. The chicken seemed out of a package from the deli and just covered in sauce. The coleslaw and mac n cheese seem pre packaged and instant. The baked beans did have some taste too it and not too bland. I believe they must smoke the potatoes used in their potato salad. Employees can be hit or miss. I’ve had some really pay attention and great wait staff, and a few others I could have launched a flare and still got no help. The front counter seems very cluttered and small for an area to be taking orders. Really agree with the others they need to stay open past 8p. This is Omaha, we easily go into the morning hours. All the second shift people also need to eat dinner when they’re off at 10 or 11.

I’d really like to give this place a 2 ½ stars. It is close to my office and since I’m always on the lookout for good BBQ I had to try it. I tried the 3 meat combo because I wanted to taste everything. I also ordered a rib on the side to try. They do give you a huge amount of food. Enough for 3 meals for me at least! The thing that really ruined it for me is that ALL the meat comes out already covered in their BBQ sauce. Now to me good BBQ needs no sauce. I enjoy eating smoked meats without sauce, and maybe adding sauce half way through. It was pretty hard to judge the smoky flavor of the meat with sauce already on it. To be honest I thought the brisket and chicken were both a little dry. Hate to keep complaining about the pre-saucing…but c’mon! Lemme taste the smoke! The pork seemed moist and had some good bark… was just hard to taste any smoke flavor through the sauce. The rib was surprisingly my favorite item. The meat nearly fell off the bone, and you really could see the smoke ring in the meat. I’d likely try the ribs again but ask for NOSAUCE! It probably won’t be anytime soon though. {{{sigh}}} Just realized I forgot to mention the sides. That is probably okay… neither of of the ones I tried were great. Had the beans and mac-n-cheese. Both pretty bland.

Average. As others have noted, the pulled meats are dry. The ribs were the best but there is no great distinction in having the best house in an average neighborhood. The sides of cole slaw and potato salad were completely forgettable. The sauces, too, were average. Or really less than average when one considers how important a sauce can be to the entire barbeque experience. The building is nice, but no lines in the parking lot. As with all BBQ, the prices are higher than usually deserved. I have to compare this place to the now closed Amarillo and McKenna’s. Hog Wild loses. Badly. And what’s up with the 8 pm closing time? Hog Wild doesn’t need to have hours like the old Smoke Pit, but at least move the closing time to 10 pm.

Firstly closing at 8 o’clock seems early for a restaurant, however if you’re going to close at eight you actually need to stay open till eight. I just drove all the way over here for take out to see they decided to close 10 minutes early tonight.

The smell walking in was so promising. However, I now smell like a campfire & for no good reason. The brisket seemed like it had been smoked too fast & the mac n cheese seemed like a Velveeta instant product. The baked beans & cole slaw were good. I’m always apprehensive when the meat comes out with sauce already on it. It makes me wonder what they’re trying to compensate for in quality. The sauces at the table were good, although the hot was not at all spicy.

Another mediocre bbq restaurant in Omaha. Really had high hopes but I was let down again. We both ordered loaded potatoes. Mine with brisket and hot links. Both meats were cold on top of the piping hot potato. The brisket was ok — for cold meat. The hot links were neither smokey or hot. Tasted more like a sliced brat. The search continues for anything except a drive to Lincoln.

Where to start… everything was great here! At Hog Wild, it was just what BBQ is supposed to be. Moist, smokey and great bark! Great fresh brewed tea. Everything was great! The place was packed and the noise level was not even noticeable. I’ll be going back regularly to Hog Wild! I highly recommend Hog Wild BBQ. If you have a bad experience, then ask yourself, did I just whine about it here or did I ask the Manager for help? They are more than happy to help you and make sure your visit is enjoyable and the staff is all very nice too!

+Okay, the building is cutely decorated inside and out. +Ribs and beef brisket: somewhat flavorsome, but not necessarily nothing I’d write home about. +Potato skins: tasty, served with bacon bits, cheddar cheese and sour cream and the portion was huge enough to share. –Sausage: tasted like hot dogs. –Sides: weak. Beans tasted canned to me, slaw was very meh, and the BBQ sauce was beyond bland. –Employees were almost pleasant. Note: My ½ slab of ribs slipped from my tray and landed on the floor under my table. They refused to give me another portion of the ribs, so my sis purchased a rub snack, because my greedy butt badly wanted to try them. I will not return due to the response about my dropped ribs and the overall underwhelming experience.

This place was surprisingly good. I had the beef brisket meal and the other person I was with had the smoke stack sandwich. It’s nice to know that they have a drive thru window on dinner days I don’t have time to sit down and eat. I will for sure be back again.

Awesome! Great bbq joint in Omaha. The meat fell off the ribs. We got a lot of food with the meal. The place is very well lit and clean. The only thing I would change would be to have the owner remove the FedEx hat. Haha

Delicious first visit! Can’t wait o go back and try more items. The open faced brisket sandwich was very tasty and the meat was definitely tender. Also tried their sweet tea… That was good as well! I’m impressed
