I love this place. The ribs are so good! My favorite thing, by far, are the beans. They have apple in them, and let me tell you how amazing that makes them. Definitely worth eating!

Hartland Bar-B-Que has been to my workplace twice now. The first time I had the chopped pork sandwich with coleslaw and the next, the chopped brisket with potato salad. Both times the meals were excellent, filling and the price was very fair for how much food you got. The service was enthusiastic and friendly. I like how the sauces come on the side so you can mix-n-match and choose how much you want. My favorites were the sweet and the mild. Not brave enough to try the hot! I hope they keep coming back.

I love this BBQ joint! I can never decide what I want… the pulled pork sandwich or the brisket sandwich. They are both very good! Good bark in the meat and a good smoky taste! Sides are okay… the beans are very different but I must say there is something about them that I really like. Hartland is a bit out of the way for me, so I don’t go very often, but when I do I love it!!!

Stopped in here while in town for business. Service was friendly and helpful for a first timer. BBQ was good, brisket was a little on the dry side during my trip there. Sides were tasty.

«Best barbecue in Omaha» isn’t saying much. First time I tried to go here, they were out of meat. No real barbecue place does that. That is simply inexcusable. When I finally got here, the meat was mediocre in terms of taste; and the sides left much to be desired. The worst part is their«Kansas City style» barbecue sauce. First off, it didn’t even follow KC style. Second, it tasted like hell and I am offended they put Kansas City’s name on that sauce. Maybe it is good by Omaha standards, but Hartland is millions of light years short of KCBBQ.

I ate here two years ago and had the ribs, which I remember were super tasty. Today I had the brisket and pulled pork, super tasty. The sides are even good! Creamy cucumbers and baked beans that taste homemade for sure. The sauces are all amazing, but I’m all about the spicy. The cornbread is like corn cake for your soul.

Everyone who eats bbq had got to know while it is a science, it’s not an exact one, however. Having said that… The ribs were OUTSTANDING; Smokey flavor, deep smoke ring, and very nice bark! The brisket was PERFECT! Pork meted in the mouth! Was not a big fan of their baked beans add I’m not into sweet ones. The Cole slaw was PREFECT! I would HIGHLY recommend this place! Why not 5 stars? I’m stingy with my stars. None the less… GOTOTHISPLACE!

We had great food and service by Diedre and Sharlee! Nice clean place with great food. We were in Omaha for the day on a Sunday and were looking for a place to eat and found this little gem.

Now I’ve had my fair share of BBQ. Heartland is in my opinion by far the best! Great meat great sides great sauce

Not good BBQ. Don’t go here and waste your money. Even Bakers’ ribs that they cook up outside every so often is better(and that is bad!)!

3.5−4 overall. I was in the mood for some BBQ, and my local favorite was closed, so why not try something new! Hartland is located just outside of Benson on Radial. I ordered a slab of their St Louis style spare ribs to go, along with a side of their beans, and corn bread. I am more of a Baby Back Rib person myself, but their spare ribs were definitely meaty. Since I got them to go, they were very well wrapped, so they were still hot when I got home. With a liberal slathering of their hot bbq sauce, the ribs were good, but in my opinion, lacked a real smoke ring and some bark. they were definitely good, and hit the spot, just not my favorite in Omaha. On the other hand, my wife raved about them! The beans were ‘different’, not really sure what I thought of them. Sweet from some apple, but with Jalapeño, they were unique for sure, but just okay. The Cornbread though was a thing of beauty. Moist, flavorful, and almost cake-like. Some of the best Cornbread I can remember having. Overall, its a nice local BBQ joint, that I will be back to(when my favorite place is closed again).

Average bbq but pretty filling. The cashier let us sample pork, brisket, and chicken, which was nice. But the meats I found were dry. I got the chicken sandwich only because it was the most non-dry meat I tasted– but put some Kansas City and hot bbq sauce on there and it’s A-OK. Also got to try the ribs– again, dry. Eh, I guess if you’re really craving bbq and you were close, this might be an okay option but I’d pass.

Stopped by for lunch. Pretty busy. Not a lot of room for a line. Order at the counter. Only about 10 – 12 tables. Got the two meat dinner(choice of pork, brisket or sausage) with two sides and cornbeard. Goes for 13.50. I tried the dinner with pork, brisket, baked beans and coleslaw. Pork was tender with good flavor, but not a lot of smoke. Unfortunately the brisket was a bit dry and not a whole lot of flavor. Baked beans were delicious and had peppers, onions and apple. Very good. Coleslaw was also nice. You have four sauces to choose from; sweet, KC, spicy and a vinegar based sauce. Tried them all and they were good. I’d stop here again when on this side of town, but not go out of the way to get the barbecue.

The ribs were good. I wanted to like this place. I love BBQ. And like I said, I ribs were good. It was the rest of the stuff that was bad. I thought the sides were fair. The cornbread which I was excited about was very cold and dry. Even room temperature would have been better. I took my son and he got the chicken sandwich. The chicken was cold(as was the bun – not room temp. but cold). It’s just something about that which made it unappetizing. There are several sauces available which were alright. I would probably eat the ribs again, which I said were good. But because I didn’t like much of anything else, I’ll probably stay away.

I already feel like a meat glutton for writing this. Ahem. Hartland has been my go-to local spot for BBQ for years. The fact that it’s only a little over a mile from my house helps. Convenience aside, Hartland has some mighty fine racks-o-ribs, smoked right outside this little Benson eatery for all to see and smell.(Mmm. Burning flesh.) Every time I’ve had the ribs, they’ve have been moist and tender. If you’re getting a rack or two to go, they give them to you wrapped in plastic, which is kind of weird and messy to unravel when you get home — but hey, this place is no frills to the max. Do you expect them to unwrap your ribs for you, you pampered little baby? Hell no. Anyway, as saucy of a guy as I typically am, the ribs actually don’t need much sauce. They shine on their own. Still, if you’re into slathering everything with sugary ketchup-based goodness, they have a few sauces to choose from, from sweet to smoky to spicy. Hartland focuses on making great BBQ and they’ve definitely accomplished that. It’s a divvy little spot that has an odd fishing-motif. The service is adequate and the lines are never too long. I can see this place only getting better and better over the years.

Ribs are very good. Tasty bark on them and some good smokiness. Brisket is very good. Moist and flavorful. Sausage is good. I’d prefer a hot link to standard smoked sausage, but theirs is decent. Pulled pork was very good too. Overall, excellent BBQ. Still need to try their chicken and I wish they offered Burnt Ends. BBQ sauce comes in three varieties: Sweet, KC, and Hot. I believe the Sweet and Hot are house sauces made by Hartland BBQ. The KC is just some mass market BBQ sauce for people that prefer it. The Sweet is a little too sweet for me. The Hot is very good and not overly hot. Iced Tea is from a fountain and thus awful. I didn’t care for the baked beans(tasted like someone dumped pickle juice in them) and I didn’t care for the green beans(out of a can). Cornbread is tasty but it’s more of a dessert cake than anything. A little too sweet. This is a common problem I have with a lot of BBQ joints. Their BBQ is superb but the sides suck. I’ve gotten used to it and don’t expect much from my sides anymore. Service is mostly friendly. They can be a little impatient(they sort of think everyone that walks through the door is a regular and has the menu memorized and knows what they want). Restaurant is clean. Restrooms are tiny, but clean. The only other BBQ in the Omaha metro area that compares with this place is probably Swine Dining BBQ in Bellevue.

I’ll be honest, I had been living in Omaha for about half a year before first eating at Hartland BBQ, and I had started to slip into an emotional depression. Completely unrightfully so as well, I’ve got an awesome friend group, family, job ect, it just felt like something was missing. And then I had the three bone special at Hartland for lunch one day about a week ago. For $ 10 and change I got four ribs(misleading meal title? I ain’t mad) beans, potato salad, a drink, some cornbread and all the house made sauce I could pump. Service was ridiculously quick and a touch candid, but I don’t need to be romanced when someone is shoving BBQ in my face at breakneck speeds. The main thing I noticed about the ribs before I took my maiden bite; the colors. Perfect Maillard browning on the exterior, and the cross section showed a visible, flawless smoke ring. I’ll attach a picture, but for those of you who don’t know a smoke ring occurs when meat is smoked under perfect conditions, causing the smoke to penetrate the meat creating a visible«ring» of deliciousness on cut cross sections of the meat. The first bite brought tears to my eyes. I blinked them away so as not to embarrass myself, but as I looked out the window of the smallish dining room, the overwhelming rekindling of the feeling that the world still has items of true beauty and astonishment such as these simple ribs was almost too much to comprehend. The ribs were cooked perfectly. Aforementioned visible smoke ring, seasoned well, tender, but not obnoxiously so. The man who made these knew what he was doing. I tried all of the red sauces, all well balanced and tasty as hell. The spicy was definitely spicy. Beans and potato salad were both phenomenal as well, and the cornbread was sweet, gooey goodness. I felt like Frank Underwood eating at Freddy’s for the first time. And for $ 10 too, fuck me right? Hands down favorite BBQ place in Omaha so far. I’d heavily recommend it for anyone who is struggling emotionally and wants inspiration towards the beauty and majesty this world has to offer.
