Standard bar food menu – Niether my boyfriend nor I finished any of what we ordered(Ruben and grilled cheese sandwiches and side salad) as it didn’t taste that good. To be fair, we had expectations that it was the same as the Dundee location where we had been before. Example: Dundee’s grilled cheese is on French bread with delicious deli cheese. This location was wonder bread with a slice of American served greasy. Server was curt. Next time we’ll make the drive to Dundee.

I have to write a review for Goldberg’s because I’ve come here many times over the years and always had great service, cold beer, and good eats. I’ve seen some of the other reviews they’ve received and I honestly just don’t get it. I’ve never had an issue with service and they’re always super friendly. Their prices are reasonable and while it’s mostly bar food, it’s good quality bar food. This is a common spot for happy hours after work and even have a nice patio spot when the weather’s nicer.

Stopped in on a Sunday evening. There were only two other tables and the service was slow. Not only that, our waitress was miserable — like it was painful for her to wait on us. The food was your typical, greasy bar food. Not bad, but nothing special.

Goldberg’s is a great comfort food restaurant/bar that is great for families. My kids love the burgers and shakes. The french dip is better than you would expect and the staff is very pleasant.

My son and I stopped in on a whim after a long day of back to school shopping. Their daily special was the sloppy joe and my son happens to love a good sloppy. It did not disappoint one bit. Discernible veggies included onions and red/green bell peppers, and it wasn’t too saucy. It came with fries which were hot and crispy. I ordered the Reuben and it was somewhat mediocre. I’m a Reuben snob so it’s hard to give me a perfect Reuben unless I’m making it myself. The sandwich was a tad on the greasy side and I felt there was too much dressing, and the kraut had possibly not been drained enough. However, the meat to toppings ratio was on point and it came with a side of kettle chips. Not a bad value for a weekend lunch, and I’d like to try their burgers next time. They looked pretty good!

Most disappointing dining experience I’ve had in years! The service was terrible, kitchen was extremely slow — 20 minutes for fried mushrooms, please. This place recently expended, obviously that was a mistake since management doesn’t staff properly — they’ve been in business way too long to be having service issues like this! The milkshake, mushrooms & onion rings were good — that’s my only reason for giving two stars. Doubt I’ll be back!

It’s really a shame. I’ve always thought of the Dundee Goldbergs as a good joint. The west Omaha version is similar in no way except for the name. My wife and I stopped in tonight. She reminded me of the poor experience we had last time but I had to give it one more shot. The fries have zero seasoning — about as flavorful as water. Our food did not appear to be fresh either. Instead of making homemade tartar sauce they put a bunch of Heinz packets on my plate. Seriously? You can’t make tartar sauce during lent? Overall I wish it was better but it’s not. It’s edible but tasteless and lacks freshness. I won’t be back. It’s too disappointing. I hope the original location hasn’t followed suit.

My husband and I went for a quick meal last night. The philli cheese steak he normally gets had much less filling than normal. I ordered a daily special — hamburger steak with mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and bread. Yummy, right? No!!! Daily specials should be the best thing in the house but potatoes and gravy came out of a box — nothing fresh, just tasted waaaaayy too salty. The green beans came out of a can and the bread was just a piece of ordinary bread you buy in a loaf on the shelf of a grocery store. To add insult to injury the waitress only wanted to refill our glasses of tea after we finished eating dinner and they needed to be filled half way through dinner. She was very inattentive and we barely saw her throughout the meal, although she stopped to talk to other tables. When she finally asked how my dinner was, she could see all I ate was the meat and bread. She didn’t act too upset. So for one sandwich, a glass of tea, a piece of meat and slice of sandwich bread out of a bag, we had to pay $ 22.00. Unbelievable. Will never go back. I always tip well for good service and this is the first time I haven’t left a tip. I’ve had better food at Arby’s. What has happened to the neighborhood bar and restaurant I used to love?

Overall Goldbergs is a solid neighborhood place to get something to eat. The location makes it so that I nearly always forget it exists but it’s usually enjoyable. They have a nice sandwich and burger selection. I’ve tried the French dip, the chicken surprise, and the hickory burger… all top notch. Very juicy, lean, tender beef on the French dip. And they have these thin shoestring fries that come out of the kitchen piping hot. The atmosphere does leave a little to be desired. It’s a comfortable place, but the tables and chairs need a little tlc. The décor reminds me of cheers or something – a definite 70s vibe mixed with a little Art Deco. I like that it’s a family owned and operated restaurant. I like to support local and small business when I can. My main gripe was the service. The waitress forgot to put in my order, so my family was finished eating by the time I even got my food. The server didn’t apologize, just told me she forgot about my dinner. She never offered to refill my water glass. I asked for a side of ranch and she looked annoyed that I asked for something else, and slapped it down on the table in front of me. She seemed to get a worse attitude as the dinner progressed. If you’re in the mood for a casual meal for $ 10 and aren’t worried about getting great service, it’s worth checking out.

More of a grill than a bar. Food is very affordable. My burger was delicious and cooked properly, had a nice char on it which often leads me to believe it will have the consistency of a hockey puck, but in the case of Goldberg’s they must actually have a hot enough grill back there to achieve a char without cremating the cow. I did not get anything extravagant, just a good old burger with fries. I was unimpressed with the bun, in my opinion it needed to be buttered and toasted. Fries are the shoestring variety, nothing special to note here, they are just fries. I would like to go back on a Sunday and try their bloody mary, apparently they are famous for these.

Stopped by for my first time to dine with a friend. Couldn’t figure out what I wanted to drink, so I tried a Blind Melon. It was a nice change from my usual martini or beer. I followed it up with a Reuben. The Reuben tasted good, though I wish it had a bit more kraut on it. Chips that came with it were good. Bought fries as well. very bland, but improved considerably once salted up. Service was good, food was decent. Will stop by again to try a burger in the future.

I agree that this Goldberg’s isn’t quite as good as the one on Dodge but I haven’t had a bad experience. Overall, I tend to think Goldberg’s is somewhat overrate but it’s still a good place to enjoy a burger. Last time I was here, I didn’t realize how many different items were on the menu. I’ve only had the cheeseburger and patty melt. In my experience, the food has always been consistent and tasty. I don’t like the fact that you have to purchase fries if you don’t want chips. I’m willing to overlook it though.

I always eat on the Goldbergs in midtown Omaha on 50th/Dodge St. I really like that place as it has one of my favorite burgers(Blue Burger). This specific Goldbergs on 132nd/Center even though it shares the same name… it’s not half the one on 50th. Bad service, and the Blue Burger even was worse. I cant liken it to a bad night as it was dead when we were there at 4:30pm on a Friday. The burger barely had any blue cheese sauce and the meal was served in a crappy basket. I was so disappointed. Trust me, I’d rather this one be better — as its was close to my home but hands down, I’ll never go back.
