Ordered the shrimp fajita and am sooo happy. Eat here you will love the food and service.

Best Tex-Mex food ever. All the people giving it low stars are people who probably think good Mexican food is Taco Bell and good music is Nickleback. You! Yes you, are better than this dear reader. Try this place. You will not be disappointed.

Good food, tacos, nachos and hamburgers are our favorites. Service is fast and friendly. The staff is always friendly and it is a good atmosphere. When it’s nice out, we enjoy sitting on the patio.

One word: Yum! I’ve love Fernando’s more and more, every time I go there. Their Fernachos with just cheese are HEAVENLY. We always get the green chilies on the side and just with the cheese on the chips, it is SUPER yummy! My favorite meal is their fajita chicken quesadillas! Very accommodating staff and enjoy our Tootsie pop treat every time we leave! P. s. They have the best sopapillas I’ve ever had… and I’ve ate a lot of Mexican food in my day.

«MEH-xican — MEH, MEH, MEH.» I met friends who live in Omaha and told me Fernando’s was ‘the best’ Mexican food in Omaha. There were chips and salsa on the table when I arrived and they were ok. The salsa was a bit watery for my taste, I like chunky salsa that sticks to the chip and this was more like tomato, onion and pepper dice in tomato water. It was not thick and you literally have to spoon the salsa on to the chip because none of it sticks to the chip on a regular dip/scoop. The chips were crunchy, not greasy so they were good. We ordered chicken and steak fajitas. Each order came with a plate that had a small cup of guacamole, sour cream and the watery salsa. Warm flour tortillas were also brought with the meat. The meat was cooked with onion and green pepper and was adequately seasoned but nothing spectacular. This is fajitas on the Qdoba, Pancheros, Chipotle level — good, not great. I also ordered a margarita which was also watery or tasted a bit watered down. Overall, it was ok but nothing to go back for and I will not be returning. There are way too many better Mexican places in Omaha with better food and larger portions.

Went there Saturday evening — it was not busy, probably because it’s a dive and you can tell as soon as you walk in the door. But we were hungry. Ordered nachos with ground beef, got no beef on them, but DID get guacamole, so because of that, they said well we’re not going to lower the price. Really classy. Plus the nachos were gross. You could tell they put them in a really hot oven so that they were really hot on the outside but the cheese was only melted enough to make it that stretchy texture that forms a glob in your throat that you think you might choke on. In summary, this place is GROSS!

As much as I want to give them more stars the restaurant has changed in the last few years. The staff used to be so sweet and the food used to be amazing. On our last visit we had an older lady as our waitress and sure was beyond rude. She came to our table only three times, once to take our order, once to bring drinks, and once to bring the check. She never asked how the food was or if everything was right(which it wasn’t) and didn’t even speak to us when she dropped off the check. Idk if she assumed bc we are young we’d be bad tippers or what but she definitely made it unpleasant enough for me to never want to go back.

The service was okay. The waitress was kind of rude and short(not height). No complimentary chips and salsa… and not good even if you purchase them! I like authentic Mexican and this is definitely not authentic. Don’t care to return here… ever.

I’ve been to Fernando’s quite a few times since we have a friend in the area we dine with periodically. It has been hit and miss but as many others have said mostly middle-of-the-road good. I usually always get the cheese enchilada and/or the seafood enchilada. The thing I like best about Fernando’s is eating outside on their covered patio on a really nice day.

Cleanliness 4 Service 4 Food Quality 4 Likelihood 4 1 – 5(5 Best!) 4.0 It has been a couple of years since we last visited Fernando’s Not much as changed over the last ten years. It IS time for an update… We we greeted by a server(ended up being ours) and than the bar tender seated us. I don’t think they had a host. Kind of hit and miss there. It was around 6pm, so still dinner time, not too busy. In the day, they would be packed. Our server greeted us and took our drink order and dinner order quickly. With Jimmy Johns speed, LOL, our food was at the table! WOW! I have ALWAYS said I love this food. I LOVE their fried flour taco shell. It is crispy, light and good. I LOVE their pulled chicken NOREDSAUCE and I LOVE their beans and rice NOPEA’S! The food was, tasty, fresh, and hot. I didn’t have to ask ONCE for my beverages to be refilled. She was VERY attentive, GREATJOB! This was a great experience, thank you!

Very good chimichanga but that’s about all I have to say that’s positive. Service was just terrible, we were sat immediately but then waited fifteen minutes to place our appetizer order. The food was unceremoniously dumped on the table without a word and I nearly burned myself on the scorching hot plate. The main course also came out about three minutes after the apps so the table was packed. Overall good for a takeout but I won’t be dining in ever again

Delicious! Nothing beats mom’s real Mexican cooking but this place hits the spot. Pico De Gallo with flour tortilla chips is a must have to start. The bean dip or guacamole are also favorite starters. I always have the enchilada, taco and burrito combo plate which guarantees me leftovers! The prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. The atmosphere is casual with plenty of room for families or couples. Some nights there is a wandering magician who is a hit with kids. AND… They give you Tootsie Pops!

I have only been to this restaurant once, so perhaps my experience isn’t the norm but I am shocked by the less than great reviews. It isn’t that I’ve not experienced good Mexican food — I have traveled extensively — including several trips to Mexico — and I lived in southern California for quite some time. I found this restaurant to be top notch. Nice atmosphere. Even though fairly crowded, it was not so noisy you couldn’t have a conversation with companions. Excellent service. Great food. Everyone in our party of six had a different entrée and everyone was more than satisfied. I did take about half of mine home, having partaken quite liberally of the baked chips with blanco dip. It made quite a delicious lunch the next day. I will be returning to this restaurant soon and hope my experience is as good as the first.

I used to enjoy eating at Fernando’s. The meal was good. Service was poor. Our server never came around to ask if we needed refills. After we were done eating, we had to find the waitress to request out check. As we were leaving, the lady that greats customers acted as though she didn’t see us. I guess I expect a «thank you» when I go to restaurants.

Dined in for lunch with a coworker and was not disappointed. I ordered the Pork Green Chile Stew and it came with two flour tortillas. The stew is tomato based but laced with chiles; the pork was mostly tender with a few tough pieces overall. Our server was prompt and friendly; refills came without asking. The pricing of the menu seemed a little high for comparable restaurants, but the true test of that would be a return visit to try out some other dishes. So 3 stars for now…

This place did a nice job with the large take out order. My fried flour tortilla tacos were excellent. They have flour tortilla chips and nachos as well… which I tend to prefer over corn these days. I’ve had better beans and rice, these were just normal. I also had a chile relleno. It was quite good but it became watery from steaming itself in the take out tray. I need to come back and try it for a dine-in experience. :)

I’ve been to Fernando’s more times that I can remember. I’ve never had a great meal here but I’ve never had a bad one. The El Kitchen Sinko nachos are had to beat. The ½ order is adequate and filling but at $ 7.95, it’s a bit overpriced. I believe that the full order is just a buck more. They come with the usual fixins including beef, chese, tomatos, black olives, green onions, sour cream, and guacamole. I also like the tacos. They are large and overstuffed in a puffy shell(think Señor Matia’s). They are also overpriced at $ 3.25 each but tasty nonetheless. Like most places in Omaha, Fernando’s is not authentic and it’s not even close to being the best Mexican joint in town. But the food is tasty and sometimes, that’s all I want. I’ll likely return to Fernando’s even if the service leaves a bit to be desired. Our particular server failed to ask us for refills on several occassons and it took quite some time to take our order.

Fernando’s was a fairly standard Mexican joint with all the typical dishes you would assume would be at a standard Mexican joint. I opted for the enchilada/taco combo, and it tasted like a standard, typical enchilada/taco combo. No surprises here. Average food and atmosphere.
