This place is incredible at lunch. Never crowded, good service. after work or during happy hour is a different story. You really have to fight for space and it’s a good thing the wine dispensers are available because you’ll never get a server’s attention. Their wine specials and half price Mondays are the saving grace! The card refill system can be a little confusing and clunky at times so don’t be shy about asking for help.

Went Friday before Memorial Day. about 2:00. Sat at the bar for a cocktail and appetizer to kick off the weekend with a couple friends. One would think that you could get at least an average drink there. Well, lower your expectations. We were told«we don’t have a bartender during the day». O.K. Just when I forget, I am fish-hooked back to reality, and remember I am in Omaha. OK. We ordered beers… And some very amazing truffle fries(which just about everyone has now, but STILL… WOW, they are good… holy moly)…And an antipasta salad that was fine. I wandered around thinking I could restock my bar at home looking for a few items. The waiter did not know what«sherry» was. The manager– said we dont have much of that. Tio Pepe? Never heard of it. I bought some Luxardo and a few other bottles that I could have gotten at HyVee. Probably cheaper at HyVee, too. Nice build out & patio. I would think they could use the revenue… just a few other souls there. Place was dead and experience to match. Other than the french fries. This place needs The Prophet.

My favorite place for happy hour. Beautiful in and out next to a park. I love sitting outside during events Midtown Crossing holds every summer. Their happy hour menu is excellent. Most of restaurant’s happy hour selection is very poor but they are not. My favorite dishes are Grilled Flatbread, Parmesan Truffle Fries… amazingly delicious appetizers that are available in happy hour menu. I tried their Meiomi Pinot Noir and I am hooked, very good wine. My husband loves old fashion. Try them all.

Mother’s Day was awesome here. Great banana foster french toast, wedge salad, eggs benedict. Free mimosas! Brix should be the cornerstone of any Mother’s Day celebration.

The food is extremely over priced for what you get. My bowl of soup was indeed a huge bowl-with maybe a cup of soup in it. My husband’s ravioli was tough and room temperature. It all had good flavors, but if you’re hungry, prepare to open up your wallet!

Traveling to Omaha on business and was pleasantly suprised by this gem. A special thanks to their employee, Troy, for exceptional customer service.

The midtown crossing Brix has a wonderful wrap around patio for patrons that is quite stellar in the spring, summer, and fall. I’ve been here a few times with friends for happy hour/wine socialization and had OK experiences. Nothing horrible, but nothing noteworthy or outstanding. Three stars for these visits. Honestly, the ambience is cooler than the product and the service. You feel über classy sitting here and drinking a glass of wine. Firmly stated, It’s a place to drink wine(although they have food, cocktails and beer too). It’s not Sonoma or Napa, it’s Nebraska, so it’s fun by Nebraska standards, and especially fun if you love wine! Most recently, I met with friends last minute after being outdoors with my dog all afternoon. I asked them to ask staff if he could come along, because my boyfriend wouldn’t be able to pick him up for 15 – 20 mins, and we planned to be there an hour or two to chat, drink, eat and socialize. They asked for me and the server said ok. Since I was driving and it was taking a while to hear back from them, I also called the restaurant and asked if the patio was dog friendly. The man on the other end was a bit confused and gave me mixed advice, but ultimately said ok. We arrived and sat at the table with my friends, and 15 mins elapsed without the waitress stopping by to grab me water or ask what I would like to eat or drink(strike one?). As I was looking for someone to flag down, I noticed a cluster of staff inside the glass of the restaurant looking at our table. My dog was well behaved and just sitting by me at this point. The manager came out and politely asked me to leave, as the patio is not dog friendly. This upsets me, not because I had to follow the rules and leave with my dog, but because both my friends and I had asked different staff members that both said ok.(Not like I had even been served food or drink or even acknowledged at this point, so leaving was no big deal, just stopping here was a waste of my time). It’s fine for an establishment to decide they don’t want to be dog friendly, but train your staff on the rules, please! Staff here is knowledgable about the product but always seems to slip up in other ways. Super upsetting and I don’t think I’ll be back for a while, even without my pooch. I need some time.

I enjoyed Brix in midtown for a variety of reasons. I am a huge fan of their cocktails and of the wine dispensing machines. I also really enjoy the beer selection they have on tap. The menu has a diverse feel to it and can be altered to fit your gluten free needs. The Executive Chef can be seen throughout the restaurant mingling with people and asking how their food was which I think is extremely impressive. I enjoyed a custom Moscow mule with tequila during this visit and a brix burger which was the feature of the night. This brix burger had jalapeño mixed into the hamburger patty and a jalapeño bacon. It was delicious to say the least. Brix midtown has beautiful views of downtown Omaha and Midtown crossing. The patio is gorgeous and the fire places are a true asset to the restaurant.

Brix is one of my go-to«time killing» spots in Midtown. It’s best known as a wine bar, and it definitely fits the bill, with a impressive array of wines of all styles and price points. Their self-serve system is a fun diversion, too, with the opportunity to try smaller pours of a variety of wines. As someone who *likes* wine but isn’t terribly knowledgeable, this is a great way for me to expand my horizons. However, most of my trips to Brix are spent at the bar, sipping a beer our a cocktail or two. I’ll be honest, they were on once my favorite cocktail bar in the area, but staff changes have shaken that up a bit, and I find that their cocktail chops aren’t as strong as they once were. These days, I’m usually ducking in during happy hour for a beer or two. They don’t have the most extensive draft list, but their offerings are solid, and competitively priced. Plus, with $ 2 off at happy hour, beer prices get quite reasonable. The food is also always tasty(necessary when having a couple of beers!). I’m partial to their hummus plate, which comes with some amazing fresh pita slices, but they’ve just made some major menu revisions, and there are a bunch of new dishes that sound great. I just tried their caprese sandwich with parmesan truffle fries, and it was definitely tasty. Brix may not win out as my favorite bar these days, but it’s still a solid stop with lots of good options.

Went there for a late lunch on a Saturday and were very impressed. While I’m not much of a wine person, the way you can get a card and use it on all of the self serve wine stations located throughout the restaurant /store is perfect for the curious wino. Terrific service! I had the tomato soup and Cuban sandwich; both of which were delicious. My wife had the Chipotle sweet potato soup and found it sweet but a little spicy which worked out perfect for me since we negotiated a little trade. The dining room is very spacious and the tables aren’t all clustered on top of one another like at some places. Great views overlooking Turner Park. Great place to spend an afternoon trying out wines and picking up some package to go home and enjoy later.

Imo they have the best food of any MTC restaurant not named Grey Plume. And lbr, most of us can’t afford to eat at GP that often but Brix is affordable(provided you stay away from the high roller wine case!) Their happy hour deals are particularly pocket-friendly. And I know what you’re thinking–«But Ashton, Brix is a liquor store. Sure they’ve got a nice wine bar and a decent draught craft selection, but you’re telling me to go there for the food?» Yes my friend. Yes. I have had everything on the menu, and lots of stuff off, and I’ve only ever had one disappointment and that’s because I’m a dope who didn’t know capellini is the proper term for angel hair pasta(and I dislike angel hair pasta.) They do a special burger every week and the ones I’ve had have never missed their mark. And now I’m going to make a very bold statement. They make the best fries in Omaha. Yes. You read that right. Their parmesan truffle fries cannot be beat. They are better than the duck fat fries next door at GP. They are amazing. They are better than amazing. BEST.

Went to Brix in Midtown for a mom’s night out. Midtown happens to be one of the trendiest places in Omaha for a day shopping or a night on the town. Parking is easy, especially now with the Park Omaha app that let’s you add money from your phone. One of the ladies in our group was able to make a reservation for all of us. The staff was friendly and I would definitely suggest this for anyone. Would make a great place to take people from out of town as well. If you are a Wineo, like myself, Brix is a great place to try, savor, or just drink a huge glass. They offer wine by the ounce and wine by the glass. I think it’s a great concept if you’ve never tried wine before, want to try several flavors, or just stick to one. When you get to Brix, you’re given a card that you can put as much money on as you want. The card is good for the wine dispensing machines. Wines are typically grouped by kind. I, myself, prefer a Malbec or a Syrah. Along with my wine, I also ordered the hummus and veggies. This was plenty enough to share or as a main meal. Though I love the concept of wine by the ounce of glass, at most restaurants, I am able to sample a wine for free before getting a glass.

My parents were in town for the Thanksgiving holiday, and I try to take them to places around town that they can’t get back home. I’ve been to both Brix locations several times in the past, but have only had drinks there. This time I thought we would try out some of their food before heading to a Creighton basketball game. We went Saturday evening around 4:30 or 5, and the place was semi-busy. We easily found a table, but there definitely are not a lot of tables at this location so I considered ourselves lucky. I wish I knew our server’s name, but he was great. Super friendly, prompt, and just had a good attitude. He quickly told us we were there during happy hour(score!) and proceeded to give us the happy hour menu. Brix won’t be going on my ‘best happy hour spots in Omaha’ list as Happy Hour prices weren’t that much cheaper than their norm(except for draft beers, which were $ 2 off!), but I was still happy with the experience. We ordered the grilled flabread, cheese curds, and shrimp & artichoke dip. Our waiter told us that unfortunately they had run out of the cheese curds, which was disappointing, but we just ordered a second flatbread instead. While the flatbread was good, the shrimp & artichoke dip was hands down the favorite of the table. The dip is served with grilled baguette slices, and I felt it was a very good potion of the dip for the price(although Brix could give a few more slices of bread to go along with it. There was more dip than bread!). After finishing our appetizers and drinks, our waiter informed us that they now had cheese curds as someone had gone to other Brix location to pick some up. Wish they would have had those sooner as they sound delicious! All in all, it was a good place for some appetizers and drinks. Again, not the best happy hour pricing for food as I think each item was only a dollar off from regular price, but I guess even a dollar off is better than nothing!

Well, this is awkward. Pretentious people with an abundance of money. Not kidding, some lady in a sweater dress with knee high uggs and a small dog. This isn’t Aspen. Then her and her party were over by one of the tvs hooping and hollering about some volleyball game. Inconsiderate much? So that crap soured my mood. I was there was a bunch of ladies for a networking event but it was hard to hear the other people from the drunken morons in the corner competing with the loud music. There were breaks in the noise and it was lovely. Brix is a lovely space and they have wonderful offerings of wine and other delights. The service was a little slow at the start, but then I have to assume he was waiting for the rest of our party to arrive. We shouldn’t have to wait 30 minutes to order a round of drinks even if we are waiting for other people. I ordered the Lobster Mac and Cheese and was disappointed. It tried to hard. it was covered in panko and runny. It didn’t have the comfort feel of mac and cheese. It was frou-frou and overworked. I ate half and gave up as it just didn’t taste good. It was pretty though. The cheddar burger and flat bread were hits. The big winner of the night was the hard root beer. On the dessert menu there is a root beer float, I did ask if they could sub out for the hard root beer and apparently I am not the first person to have that thought! Maybe I went there on a bad night, maybe I was cranky but I don’t see a real reason for me to go back.

I really like Brix. The concept is fabulous, put money on a card, try all the fancy wines you want, get some food if your hungry, and BS with the super friendly bartenders. Ive worked from here a couple times a well since they have free wifi, and its always a good time. The bartenders are super friendly, and always good for conversation. The waitstaff service is prompt and friendly. The biggest negative I have agains Brix: I have never gotten a burger cooked how I’ve ordered it. I have ordered the burger of the day 6 or 7 times now, and every time i order it rare to medium-rare, and every time it comes out well. But they easily have the best fries in Omaha, and that kind of makes up for it. Aside from that I only have one small other complaint: You can only put more money on your card at one kiosk on the north side of the restaurant. Why not put a second chipcard reader at the registers on the south side, or maybe a ATM style machine that lets you refill your card yourself?

Brix is one of my favorite places to go for wine. They also have a good selection of other types of alcohol, including craft beer. This location is great for a relaxing afternoon or evening out when you have the time to sit and sample. If you join their e-mail list you will get notified of upcoming tastings, many of which are free. They also have a small food menu as well. The food is a bit pricey(as expected for a wine store), but not unreasonable. I recommend trying the meat and cheese tray, the dip that comes with it is amazing. The patio has a nice view, I believe one year it was rated as one of the best outdoor seating restaurants in Omaha.

There really isn’t a better way to celebrate making it through a Monday than having a couple glasses of half-priced wine on the patio. Seriously, why didn’t someone develop the idea of a wine buffet sooner?

In CA this would never work. People care about the story and conversation about the history, future and culmination of the wine. In NEIOWA there isn’t that conception. We make the best of getting to taste good wines in all kinds of sizes, mostly full glass in my case! Gotta say they’ve created a comfortable atmosphere for all types. Love it when Natalie from Envy plays, too! Grab a few friends and try it out! Cheers!

Update: After further consideration of what makes for a four-star establishment, I think Brix warrants 3 based on my experience. I’ve resisted buying one of the Brix refillable wino cards, though I’m not sure why. Maybe I didn’t want to be married to the place. Now I think the concept is brilliant. It really is a great way to taste different wines. I saw one couple reload theirs twice. I can see something similar happening to me and my girlfriends resulting in much jubilation and our eventual ejection from the establishment. I sampled Educated Guess by Roots Run Deep(earthy and dark fruity) and another cab sauv by Justin(biting red berries), both of which Vivino(a wine rating app) recommended for me. All too late did I spy Blindfold, The Prisoner Wine Company’s white blend. I just can’t sample a white after spending time with the big reds. Staff at the front register looked at us but didn’t greet us when we walked in. Our bartender was a nice guy who can talk beer and wine, and whose beer preferences seem to be at odds with the Hubbin’s! We grabbed a bottle of Orin Swift Abstract Red to take home. Front register folks were friendly enough when they had to deal with us. I’ll be back, and not just because I still have money left on my card!

I have visited Brix on quite a few occasions for drinks and appetizers. I love that the wine is self service and you can sample as much or as little as you like. It is a great feature when you want to try a new wine but don’t want to purchase the whole bottle until you know that you enjoy it. The appetizers and small plates are good as well. We enjoy the patio seating with the fire pits that overlook Turner Park. It is a great place to go for date night and girls night. My only complaint is that we have never really had good service at Brix. It always takes a very long time to get waited on for food. At first I thought that this was maybe due to the fact that Brix is both a retail store and a restaurant and the staff had to be split between both duties but after visiting Grane and having outstanding service I realized that was not the case. We also love to shop at Brix and purchase cheese and wine and even bought our ceremony bottle of wine for our wedding there because we knew that we count on it being a high quality bottle of wine. We will definitely be back but would love to see an improvement in the service.
