Fantastic place to enjoy a glass of wine and cheese plate. The owner is phenomenal and her staff are friendly & outgoing.

Bricks & Mortar is a beautiful restaurant with a beautiful view, in a beautiful part of downtown Omaha. And luckily for you, the consumables they can whip together are also just as beautiful as they taste. I came here on an otherwise quiet Thursday night by myself – definitely the best looking place within walking distance from my Airbnb – and was greeted immediately by cool, friendly staff working behind the bar. Every patron here, in fact, was sitting at the bar. I, however, chose the road less traveled, and ended up sitting outside to enjoy the amazing weather and perfect view. Being the only customer outside, I was surprised to have been given so much attention(surely, it couldn’t have been because of my good looks and nice attire). My waiter made sure I was taken care of without being overly intrusive, and was just as kind while I was on the phone for half my visit. Kind, courteous, respectful, and patient – definitely reflective of the down-to-earth Omaha/Midwestern culture for sure. Drinks, round 1: Almond Old Fashioned. A bit on the sweeter side, but super duper tasty. The almond taste is subtle… actually VERY subtle, as it’s easy to confuse the almond-y flavor for pure sweetness. Very enjoyable and incredibly well-made drink, just beware it’s not the same type of Old Fashioned your grandfather and your grandfather’s father used to drink. It doesn’t pack as strong of a boozy punch, but it certainly gets your taste buds going. Drinks, round 2: Gin Basil Smash. This one has tons of potential. Sour with mint undertones, and a nice gin after-taste and alcohol kick to the stomach. Warning– my descriptions may be slightly inaccurate since I drank this one after gobbling down my food. Still a good drink, and probably most reminiscent of a Tom Collins. Food, round 1: Torn between Steak and Duck, but went with the Duck cause I’m Asian and we have certain cravings in life. The menu here doesn’t have it listed, but it includes parsnips, purple potatoes, pear, and leeks. The duck was amazingly prepared and one of the best non-Asian-cooked duck I’ve ever had – but BEWARE– the portion sizes here are TINY! There’s a reason Unilocal categorizes this as a «Tapas/Small Plates» restaurant. Wish I had known that before I ordered. Anyway, duck comes very highly recommended, but if you’re an above average eater, I suggest grabbing an appetizer or two or another full entrée as well. Food, round 2: Back to the menu because I was still hungry as a hippo, and went with the Chicken Bites under«Share Plates.» Definitely a solid portion size and the chicken was great! Lightly fried, very crispy, and 100% not dry at all. The cabbage is a bit spicy, but not enough to turn away those with an average spice tolerance. Perfect«dessert» to my meal and would’ve worked great as an appetizer as well. TL;DR: Awesome place. Great drinks, great atmosphere, great food, great view. What’s more to say? Wish I had returned here to try more options on the menu while I was in town, but just another reason to come back and visit. Perfect for a date, a chill night alone, or a dinner with your buddies. If you’re in the area or looking for the«new spot,» look no further.

This place is a gem. It’s a little outside of Old Market which makes it even more of a relaxing place to eat and drink with friends. Seth took great care of us and was knowledgeable about all the cocktails. The happy hour is incredible for drinks! The lemon drop was great, the gin basil was refreshing. Others in my group also liked the sangria and the mojitos. The spin dip was excellent, hummus just OK. We’ll be back when it’s warmer to take advantage of the patio!

Absolutely fantastic wine bar with happy hour specials anytime you might go. Friday/Saturday have reverse happy hour from 10pm-Midnight and they have a daily bottle special. They are just far away enough from Old Market where you don’t get the rowdy crowds, but the distance is still short enough to walk in just a few minutes. The by the glass menu is larger than I’ve found at most other places and the staff seems pretty excited about what they do. I’ve had the owners come over a couple of times to thank us for coming and really talk to us instead of just smiling and waving. I haven’t had the main entrees, but the small plates are delicious. The flat breads are a must order.

This is our first time partying down in Omaha. This place came up on Unilocal and it looked good. What got us in the door was the $ 15 dollar bottle of wine that they were advertising. Of course, they were out of the red, so we just decided to order by the glass. Happy hour price is only 5 – 6 bucks. The charcuterie board was very good

Not bad. I came in for happy hour, and ordered what the bartender recommended, the lemon drop. Good balance, not overpoured and was good. They have a big wine selection of wine. Only wished they expanded more into the local beers and have them on tap during happy hour. I ordered the tacos, as they came recommended as well. They were shredded beef, and tasted ok. They were a little salty, but overall good flavor. Due to bad thunderstorms earlier in the evening, the place wasn’t as busy, but has a great ambiance to it. This is an awesome spot to grab a few friends, split a bottle of wine, and unwind. If I return to this area on business, I will stop by for sure.

I was very excited to try this place as it had a great reviews and a really cool atmosphere, but sadly I didn’t enjoy my experience. First the drinks, I ordered a Cham Cham which was described as champagne with raspberry syrup, the drink tasted very much like medicine. My boyfriend was not impressed with his cocktail either. Then the food, we ordered a cheese plate, the cheeses did not seem very fresh or local at all, some of it kind of resembled lunch cheese for sandwiches, and it was an expensive cheese plate. The shrimp for the shrimp cocktail was pretty dry. The cucumber bruschetta was decent but didn’t make up for the rest of the meal. Lastly the service, we were there on a Saturday night, the patio was busy but the inside was fairly quiet. Our waitress was very nice, but our food came and it took about 15 minutes to get silverware so we were staring at our food unable to eat it for a while. My boyfriend never got a refill on his water, and I ordered a wine to stay safe after not liking the cocktails and it took forever as well we had to remind our server. It appears as though others have enjoyed this place, maybe I’ll give it another shot sometime, I really loved the atmosphere, design and vibe! However the food, Drinks and service, weren’t really there for me on this visit.

I love the happy hour! That is the only time I’ve ever been. It is a great place to take a group of coworkers or friends for drinks after work or before dinner. The half price drinks till 7pm make it worth four stars. The reason it gets three is service. My friends and I have been coming hear nearly weekly for happy hour and there never seems to be enough staff. Drinks take over 10 minutes to arrive and sometimes the staff forgets a drink order. There have been larger parties in the back of the bar that take up a lot of staff time, leaving the rest of the bar to hope to be noticed. My group sits on the patio and the bar tender serves us, but when there is a large group s/he has to serve the entire patio(which is a good size), make the patio drinks, and the drinks for the parties. They need a staff person devoted solely to the patio.

Came here on our one night in Omaha, a Friday night. A lot of patrons were sitting outside, but not so much inside. We ordered a lemon drop martini and a red wine. The lemon drop martini was very sour, which I didn’t mind, but if you like sweet drinks, your may want to order something else. This place was surprisingly empty for a Friday night. The interior was contemporary, dark, which I liked. I hope this place gets busier. It has definite potential.

We arrived in time for happy hour on a Wed night. Happy hour is generously timed(5 – 7), with half-price wine and cocktails! My friends and I were thrilled! The patio is dog friendly, but not well shaded from the 4pm-7pm sun, so we fought the blazing discomfort for a few hours waiting for the sun to duck behind a tree. Our dogs thankfully had some shaded spots to breathe easy in, so they were never as hot and bothered as we were! We enjoyed a variety of cocktails and wines, and were attentively cared for by a waitress who was also the bartender inside. She kept apologizing for needing to be in 2 places at once, but we never felt overlooked or as if we waited too long, even as more friends arrived on scene. She managed all her duties seamlessly. They hold events in multiple back rooms, and we passed by a few on our way to the(very clean) restrooms. The catering looked scrumptious and the venue ample. The menu is simple with a few cheese plate options, a soup, some salads, and lavosh, and management informed us that the menu will be expanding. The food we tried was delicious, but I might have eaten more cheese than I needed to! Blissfully off the college-scene bar hopping route, so you won’t have to weave through a herd of bud light connoisseurs on your way to the bar! Definitely a good classy spot to go for any reason.

Even better… Our waitress remembers our drink order seconds after arrival. Either a sign of a problem or a great place. I am going to go with a great place.

Everyone has that love that got away. What makes that love so special is when you get to revisit them and they have re-imagined themselves into everything you ever wanted. That is what I feel about the former Urban Wine and now Bricks and Mortar. The décor does not deviate from what made me love from it when I first walked in. It still maintains the same ambiance that enticed me to join its wine club. The food menu is unique and intoxicating. They maintain their staples while giving the guest the opportunity to try things they have never tried. I highly recommend any dish with meatballs. What I love most about the new and updated Bricks and Mortar has to be the staff. They are personal and conversational. From the owner down to the servers, you feel as if you are one of their closest friends. Their wine selection is enjoyable. They have a vintage section, but they tailor themselves to people who want to learn what makes wine so… well…awesome. Their selection walks you through the university of vino. Bottle after bottle you will enjoy every moment here.

Eric did a fantastic job helping me surprise a friend for her birthday. He was very accommodating with allowing me to drop off the cake early, and helped me plan and execute the WHOLE surprise! Thanks again Eric. You rock.

What used to be the urban Wine company has revamped their image and changed the name. B&M is rather just OK. Not really a 2 star, but more like 2.75 so it get the bump to 3. If you like red wine, they have some choices. White? the same amount of choices. Will you find a 2003 rioja that you loved? Nope. Nor will you find that amazing white wine that you had while summering in France on studies. I am not saying this place isn’t good, but I am inferring that you won’t get more than what they think you will buy. It makes good business sense and doesn’t leave much to chance. They can burn through stock and keep fresh bottles around. that is good. Sometimes I like to have a specific bottle and that is where I am left hanging. they won’t have it. If you are out with your friends, stop here for some tapas(you know, the little dishes everyone has, but they charge full plate prices for) and a glass or three. Cheers!

Atmosphere was awesome, wine was great, but NOTHING compares to the service! Eric, front end manager was awesome. The bartender MacKenzie had great suggestions. I rarely leave reviews, but was genuinely impressed with their service. This is totally different from the place that was formerly here. If you’re debating stopping in… DOIT! Not only will you not be disappointed, you’ll be impressed.

We hadn’t been here in years, so it was nice to see it open(even though it is not the place we were expecting). We had a wonderful evening of food, drinks and socializing. Bricks and Mortar has a very nice atmosphere, excellent food quality with great flavor. Service was wonderful. Staff went above and beyond with service, friendliness, and conversation. The owner is a delightful woman who made us feel like we have been coming there for years! We will definitely be returning!

#bricksandmortar #friday #dinner A relaxed dinner off the beaten path with great results. Having been an infrequent patron of the former Urban Wine Co, I was familiar with the location. However, I had not yet taken the opportunity to really sit down and test out the menu and service. The décor has been updated and provides a warm and inviting atmosphere even during these cold winter days. The menu is quality, if maybe just a little smaller than I might like. On this visit we availed ourselves of a good sampling from the offerings. For our light dinner tonight’s order consisted of the Beef Enchilada Nachos appetizer, the House Salad, and the Meatball Sliders. Additionally, we sampled the 4 – 7 Happy Hour drink offerings and requested the Pomegranate Champagne Punch, Bocelli Prosecco, Oyster Bay Merlot, and Pennywise Pinot Noir. The punch was delicious with a pleasantly assertive but not overpowering pomegranate flavor, and the Prosecco paired perfectly with the House Salad. The red wines were complimented by the sliders and the nachos were the star of the show. Instead of the chips being covered by the meat and cheese mixture, they surrounded a bowl of the delightfully spiced enchilada meat. The chips themselves were nothing special, but some fresh, blue corn or mixed, chips could add some punch to the dish if B&M were so inclined. Our service was quick and cordial as was the décor. I will definitely be returning to this pleasant little bistro in the future and suggest you try it out soon!

Amazing! My fiancé and I recently celebrated our engagement with having a party at Bricks and Mortar Bar & Bistro — Janet and Manny were very easy to work with as we picked what our menu would be for the evening and what beverages would be offered to our guests. The party went off without a hitch and our 40+ guests were raving about the service and convenient layout of the space! Definitely bring your business here — it will be valued and you will be treated with the utmost respect as a customer!
