Baker’s

Bakers is my go to grocery store. There is always a good sale, they send me awesome coupons, the store is clean and neat and I can almost always find what I need and the prices are reasonable, unlike my other favorite grocery store.
I always head straight to the meat case whenever I come, because I can always find some great meat values in the marked down section, I will get the beef and pork, I won’t bother with the marked down chicken and fish.
I also like the fact that I never have to stand in a long line, bakers does a really good job of line management. Except in the case where a customer in front of me wait until her stuff is bagged and her total is presented to start digging through her purse for her wallet. Like really, you didn’t know you were going to need it to pay!

I wound up going back last week and noticed they are having bird issues again. There were birds flying around the store. When I noticed they were there, I just left my cart and walked out. Shame they don’t have any way to deal with this issue like all their other locations do.

I like the location of this Baker’s. It’s convenient, clean, laid out well and boasts a nice and helpful staff.
However, I don’t like their prices, which I suppose apply to all local Baker’s and more broadly the Kroger chain in general. And why are they still forcing customers to use a little card to get the best prices, which still end up being a bit higher than No Frills or Hy-​Vee? No thank you sir.
In short: Nice store. Annoying pricing system.

I use to be highly upset if I were on this side of town and needed to stop by the grocery store now I wish the Baker’s near my house resembled this one!

I have previously had average to awful experiences here. Today I needed some stuff for a party and stopped by. I had forgotten my wallet at home and realized this while at the register. What could have been an embarrassing situation was taken care of very simply by the cashier and close by supervisor. They scanned my items and said they would just scan the receipt at customer service when I came back. They were very swift in making this happen and did not cause the line behind me to have to wait or back up. They made it just like a usual transaction. I was also impressed with the improvements to the stores look and the selection has gotten better also. As with all Baker’s there seems to be less of a rhyme or reason as to why certain isles are where they are-​but I am sure that is some marketing thing. Not a big deal if the service and selection keep up.

I’ve shopped at several Bakers’ around town. This particular location is the worst managed store of them all. I always find rotten meat and expired food on the shelves. You have to check everything. The place is always filthy. They don’t keep their meat refrigerated properly. Meat within the expiration date had a strong sulfur smell indicating dangerous bacteria growth. I do not buy meat here any more. I drive 3 miles further to the HyVee.
