Van’s Sweet Spot

Although I may have not been impressed with Van’s Burgers, I found the Sweet Spot to be excellent. I ordered a corn dog and a pumpkin shake (a seasonal option). The corn dog was exceptional. It was a good size, a bit larger than I was expecting. The cornmeal coating around it was great. Cooked just right, with the very outside being that nice shade of brown but not being over done. A great balance of soft and firm. It had a very nice flavor, not overly sweet like a lot of places tend to do and had that real cornmeal grit to it– exactly as a corn dog should! The dog itself was not just some bland standard hot dog, it was flavorful and went perfect with the taste of the coating. Absolutely delicious. I will warn you though, when they say «hand-​dipped corn dogs» they are making them fresh, not having them sit under a heat lamp forever, so they are hot. Even if the outside is just warm the inside may still be blazing. So be careful with those first few bites, it would really be a shame to burn your tongue and not be able to enjoy their wonderful corn dogs.
The pumpkin shake exceeded my expectations. It was the best pumpkin shake I’ve ever had. It was the perfect consistency. Not like sucking cement through a straw, and not too milky and deluded. It was exactly where it should be. It was rich with flavor– a perfect medley of ice cream, pumpkin, and spice. I was really surprised and just how much taste you get out of it. If you’re some one who wants more of a vanilla shake with a little bit of extra flavor added to it, this is not the shake for you. This is definitely for the pumpkin pie lovers out there. Speaking as a pumpkin pie lover myself, I can assure all the other admirers that this was a superb pumpkin shake.
Like with the burger stand you will need to expect a wait. I personally do not find the wait to be that bad. The customer service was good. When I pulled up the line was not all that long, but none the less one of the employee’s came out and started taking orders from where you were in line so that by the time you pulled up, your order was pretty much done.
I would absolutely recommend Van’s Sweet Spot to any corn dog or shake lover. The results are absolutely worth the wait.
