Tieng’s Instyle Salon

I’m so sad to leave this review, as I’ve had relatively good experiences with this salon in the past, recently things have gone badly, and I will not be returning.
I have been overlooking the use of obviously used, and overused files/​pumice/​bits and just generally unhygienic practices, because the service has been exemplary until my previous and final visit here.
I went in for a fill and pedicure. The woman working on my feet (not Tammy) was very rough, and barely responded when I explained she was hurting me. The woman doing my fill (Linda) argued with me, repeatedly and at length about my nail color choice, and in the end disregarded what I asked for and gave me some of the worst nail art I’ve had, to date.
I’m not difficult to please, I just want what I ask for, and with the price I’m paying, I don’t think that’s too much to ask.
I’m sorry ladies, I truly love your place and you personally, but if you won’t do a simple single color nail, I can’t be bothered to keep paying you for your services.

It really is a bummer I have to update my previous, stunning review, just to replace it with a bad one. The last two times I have been here, I have had STELLAR experiences, and have seen the same ladies for my nails and pedicures. The most recent time however was a different story. I arrived in the early evening and it was pretty busy, so I was seated at a station for a fill and waited my turn (which is totally fine). The woman came to the station to do my fill. I had white tips and asked if I could just get a fill and then do a color over the entire nail so I could have white underneath the nail and then cover up the tops in a red (it looked cool on the Internet!!~). She responded with some unenthusiastic «meh, okay» and I picked my color, which she also regarded as «meh, okay.»
She begins to peel off some of my acrylics, saying they are cracked (they weren’t). Then she says she has to do a new full set because all my nails are cracked. At this point I have been here an hour already, between the waiting and humming and hawing about how I want my nails and picking at them with random metal tools. I again agree, because I don’t seem to have much of a choice at this point.
So I pick a different color, and this time she responds much more enthusiastically. But as she is sanding my nails, she keeps nicking my cuticles. I finally told her she was hurting me and she gave a bland «sorry.» By the time my nails were done, I had GORGEOUS new nails… and three of my fingers were obviously bleeding. I pointed them out, but she didn’t apply anything to make them at least sanitized. The last two times I have been here, I’ve received hand massages with my fills and full set, but not this time. She slathered some Claire’s scented cuticle oil on my cuticles, including the bleeding ones, and called it a day. No discount on my service for the cuts, no apology for how long it took. Another woman came by and thanked me for waiting, and she’s the one who has given me excellent service before.
Long story short: I am really displeased with the overall inconsistency in service, and really annoyed that I have scabby cuticles.

Technicians need to be more upfront about what they’re charging. I showed a picture to my tech (a faded gel manicure), she said she could do it which was clearly untrue. It’s fine if you can’t do it but don’t charge me extra for removing the gel when it clearly isn’t what I asked for. At the very least, tell me upfront that you’re going to charge extra. I immediately notified her that this isn’t what I wanted. She then proceeded to speak in Vietnamese to the other girls about me. Not a relaxing experience since the girls that work there are constantly obnoxiously talking to one another in Vietnamese. Business owner didn’t help either… she wanted to charge me more! Never returning to this salon due to their bad business ethics.

Not the best, not the worst but won’t be going back. It was fast but wasn’t a fan of the ladies working and they couldn’t understand a simple 4^th of July design even with a picture. Once done it looked ok but chipped away within days. Just not the best not the worst as I said.

First time here and disappointed that I didn’t come in way sooner! If you’re on the west side or don’t mind the drive, go to Tieng’s. Super clean, friendly, inexpensive, and detail oriented. Prices are a little cheaper than what I’m used to paying in Lacey AND Tieng’s offer more services to their pedicure package and give you a longer massage. Definitely coming back and glad I found something closer to home!

Super quick getting me in. Place was packed :) very careful taking off my acrylics. Very detail oriented. Im from out of town and finding a good nail place can be a challenge but they do am amazing job here! Highly recommended

First time going here… AND… I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! Donna was the person who did my pedi and eyebrow waxing and she is FANTABULOUS! VERY meticulous and wants everything PEREFECT!!! it was so nice to feel like you are actually getting your money’s worth (and more!) here! Everyone was friendly (as soon as you walk in the door!), the place was clean… very willing to do what it takes to make the customer happy… I just LOVE this place! Definitely will be going back… will bring my daughter next time!!!

The only reason I am giving this place a star is because my mom enjoyed her pedi. I on the other hand will never return. I went in for a set of Acrylics. I had an old set that needed removed and the tech alternated between clipping and prying to get the lifting set off. She clipped part of my nail bed and it felt like she was trying to pull my natural nails off. I have NEVER had a removal hurt like that. And I will admit I probably should have just had her stop but I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. A mistake I will never make again. She cut me numerous times while filing my nails and then applied the acrylic and filed it down to almost non existent and then applied gels. Not what I wanted then asked what color I wanted I wanted 2 colors she said she would mix colors apparently her idea of this is to take the end of a zip tie and drag it through the almost dry polish making it uneven and look like there are chunks of polish missing. I’m not normally one to complain and I’ve been getting my nails done in salons for a min of 6 years and have never had this problem. And when I called bad I was told its gel on top of acrylic its better and popular. I don’t care if its popular I wanted acrylics and got gels… Umm no. They kept trying to pressure me into fad colors and I’m not even going to start on my Pedi experience. My hands hurt I have gel polish on my hands and wrist and I can assure you I will be going elsewhere to get it fixed next week.

I moved to the area 2 weeks ago and am in the market for a new nail place. This place is spacious and clean and the women are very nice. I had an eyebrow wax, spa pedi, and shellac mani. I left there feeling great and very relaxed. Not super crowded and it was nice having technicians willing to give me what I want while offering great suggestions for services. I will definitely go back!

Pros: Inexpensive, relaxing, and newly opened. Nice place and customer service. They take the time to make sure details look good.
Cons: I have sensitive skin and the pedicurist was a little too rough scrubbing my foot. She stopped when I communicated it to her
Tip:

Very nice salon. Very spacious and clean. Asked for the classic pedicure. She gave me a really long massage, and used hot stones. Very sweet nail technician. I will be coming back!

I have been going to get my nails done by Tieng and her employees for the past six years. They do an outstanding job. Today, I went in to get my acrylic nails filled. Tieng suggested I try this new acrylic color powder. I picked out the hot pink color powder and did glitter blue tips. Tieng’s employee Leah did an amazing job on my nails. I love going to Tieng’s salon because all the ladies do a great job, very clean, good prices, and they treat you very nicely. If anyone is looking for a nail salon, I recommend going to Tieng’s Instyle Salon you will definitely come out satisfied.
