My mother recently underwent surgery at Olean General Hospital and I was completely impressed with every aspect of our experience there. The families of surgical patients were directed to a spacious, warm waiting area with a nice fireplace and plenty of good magazines. Once there, a concierge checked in on us regularly, getting to know our names, chatting about anything and everything, and giving us updates on the patient we were waiting for. When we had questions about something, the concierge immediately got us the answers. After my mother was admitted to a room in post-surgical, her great care continued. As shifts changed, each nurse came to the room to introduce herself – and help or information was never far away. I am, honestly, a little freaked out by hospitals – but this one was so impressive that it could change my mind.
