Smallcakes – Oldsmar

We’ve been waiting for this place to open for a while. It was worth the wait! The cupcakes are moist and have great flavor. The selection is good and the staff friendly. We’ll be coming back for sure!

I’m a fan of Smallcakes, but probably not for the right reasons. It’s not so much that the business itself is amazing, but their location is very close to my home. Also, it’s never crowded. For those two reasons alone I love it already. As far as their products are concerned, they’re definitely good. The ice cream is thick and creamy, and the cupcakes are very moist and flavorful. My favorite’s the Hot Fudge Sundae cupcake and I pretty much get it every time we go.
It would be nice if they did a little more with the décor. It seems more thrown together than planned out. The place doesn’t look bad at all, but they could take it up a level. The customer service aspect of their business is on par, though. They will guide you through the flavors and let you sample the ice creams.

Hmm. Smallcakes. Went in with my sis the other day because I’ve been eyeing it since it opened, and can’t say I was too impressed. I ordered the Lemon filled cupcake and although it was good, I can’t say that I was over the moon about it. It was very moist, and pretty tasty, but didn’t have that much filling in the middle which was disappointing. It’s just too pricey of a cupcake not to be wowed over. My sister got 2 scoops of ice cream that were hardly scoops. They were not 2 nice round scoops, but just broken scraped in scoops of ice cream. Sloppy and not full. Altogether for 1 cupcake, and 2 small scoops of ice cream was almost $ 11.There is no atmosphere inside this place either. I really think this place is in a bad location, and if something special is not done to draw people In, it won’t be there that long. I would only buy these cupcakes again if I was getting a gift for someone because they would be a great gift idea, I would appreciate them, but not something that I would shell out $ 4 a cupcake for on a regular day.

I wasn’t happy that my favorite cupcake, the Lemon Drop wasn’t made correctly. The cake was white cake and not lemon cake.
This store is closer to me and it’s bigger than the one on Dale Mabry. The cupcake schedule was not on the wall, so I couldn’t plan what day I wanted to come back.
The cupcakes were still moist, but they need to make the cupcakes with the right cake batter.
I’ll give it another try since they just opened and update my review accordingly.

Pretty cupcakes, small selection. Pricey, but most cupcake places are. Friendly service. Cute place, but would be nice to see them have coffee or tea available when eating there. Had a cold case filled with water and soda. The cupcakes are sooo sweet, can’t imagine washing them down with a sugary soda. Perhaps milk? Just a thought!

I’m not quite sure if this place is ready to be open due to the sparsity in stock, but I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. This plaza has been gutted and rebuilt and after Ross and Aldi moved in, it became a happening Plaza on the horizon. The first to open up in the new section is Smallcakes, and next up will be Casa Costenza.
According to the gentleman inside, who was very friendly and helpful, they will be offering coffee here once they have the equipment in place. I feel like that would really set this place off because there aren’t any really good coffee shops nearby.
As for the sparsity in their stock, there were only about 10 ice cream flavors to choose from and there were probably less than 15 cupcakes in the whole joint ready to be sold. So like I said, the police looked a little bare.
I tried the salted caramel ice cream and it was pretty good. It certainly wasn’t the best I’ve ever had but I had a sweet tooth and it filled the void, or my cavity, but definitely one of the two. I also scooped up a cupcake. I don’t know why because I really dislike cupcakes, but this one looked really good. I still haven’t eaten it, and it’s sitting out in the kitchen. I suppose I’m letting it think about what it’s done, or about what I’ve done. Only tomorrow will tell if the lemon drop cupcake will be devoured.

Visited this place today for the first time with my buddy. I chose the caramel crunch and a peanut butter cup. They were both perfect. The owner told me these cupcakes are made fresh every morning and those that don’t sell are boxed up and taken to a school the next day.
The cake part of the cupcake was the most moist cupcake I have ever had. Expect to pay for it as each cupcake worked out to be about $ 4 a piece. I will definitely be back to try other flavors… possibly daddy /​daughter dates.

Smallcakes, a cupcakery, is pretty posh! Little pretty cupcakes are displayed on pretty two tier displays behind glass, and of course the offered homemade ice cream.
Today I came in and there was a young lady behind the counter, a gentleman came in before me, and he seemed confused that they didn’t sell CAKES, just cupcakes. She was quite patient with him and explained exactly what was offered. When he wasn’t ready, he allowed her to serve me.
I chose a Carmel Crunch cupcake and took it to go. Let me tell you, when I get a chocolate cupcake, I generally expect it to be somewhat dry. NOT THIS CUPCAKE! It was perfection in a cupcake. I’m not exaggerating at all. Light, fluffy and moist. The icing was delicious and though the pretzel bits were stale (they’d likely gone that way since they’d been broken and out in the atmosphere all day) the cupcake was AMAZING.
I would come again. The reason they get four stars? How can you sell these delicious things and not offer Coffee? Bottled drinks Don’t cut it. PLEASE … Please I beg you… offer coffee soon. it is the one improvement I can suggest.
