While I’ve always enjoyed frozen yogurt, I stopped in one night to grab a cup with my sister. The shop is nice and has a welcoming atmosphere, However, as I was about to purchase my order, a certain dark-haired girl with a heavy amount of eyeliner ruined my experience. She angrily glared at me and crossed her arms as I was approaching the counter and paying for my yogurt. I felt very unwelcome and as if i was in a hostile environment. It was close to closing time, and I can only assume she was angry because she wanted to close soon and I had come close to when she wanted to close. She rang me out, and said nothing. I said«Thank you, have a good night.» She had no response and as soon as I was out the door she locked it and began to clean This was poor customer service as I hoped to never have her ring me out when I returned.

Love this place! Great concept with the way the store is setup and how you pay by the ounce. I found it to be very reasonably priced for ice cream. It is sleek and SO clean! You can put on your own toppings — the entire experience is fun for kids & adults too! Dogs get their own pup cups too! Owner is incredibly friendly and present in the store often. Went in several times while visiting my mom in Old Saybrook this past month! Can’t wait to come back in during my next visit!

I got my first sample of Sweet Luna’s frozen yogurt at the Saybrook Chowder Cookoff — March 2014, and I was hooked. The staff is polite and friendly. They have clean and airy décor. The mix-ins are well organized and the containers they are in keep the mess down to a minimum. The flavors and combos are yummy, and the pricing seems very fair. I always stop here with my son whenever I am in the area. There’s always room for yogurt!

Just wanted to update that Sweet Luna’s now has an iced tea bar that is pretty cool and definitely worth checking out. You can get bubble tea, organic green or black tea, and you can flavor it any way you want(for example, strawberry green tea, blueberry green tea, passion tea with agave, to name a few favorites). Made fresh right there. So many combinations, so refreshing and good.

I had already heard good things about Sweet Luna’s, and I was not disappointed. Good choices for flavors, and many, many options for add-ins. I’ll be going back again, over and over

Yesterday, my husband and I enjoyed a delicious guilt-free treat at Sweet Luna’s! It was the best frozen yogurt we have ever had. We were able to choose from a variety of yogurt flavors, including fat-free options(which, by the way, taste decadent — not fat-free), along with a huge selection of fruit and other toppings. We particularly liked that it is self-serve which enabled us to combine various yogurt flavors together and decide on the portion size. Sweet Luna’s is a bright, colorful yogurt shop that is spotless. We were welcomed with a warm smile and an offer to sample the yogurt flavors before making our selections. My husband and I live in Niantic, but agree that the trip to Sweet Luna’s in Old Saybrook is well worth it. We are already thinking about when we will have the opportunity to return to try other yogurt flavors. This will become a very nice habit!

Although this is a friendly place and a great idea it’s definitely very pricey. Along with price the employees are very in your face. Rest assured I do know how to get my yogurt and will let you know if I need assistance. For how much it cost per ounce I would expect better flavors or for them to change more often. Sweet Luna’s staff informed me their yogurt was the best quality I have definitely had better. The topping selection is awesome though and the store is sparkling clean! So all in all, if prices were lower and the staff was not constantly in my face Luna’s would be the perfect place!

Some day when the whole self-serve frozen yogurt craze dies, I think a lot of people will say to themselves, «What the heck was I thinking?» I mean, when you think about it frozen yogurt is hardly new. It was popular years ago, then it simmered down, and now it’s back in popularity. That popularity is largely due to combining it with self-serve service. Which, when you think about it, is also hardly new. Cafeterias have been doing self-serve for decades. But combine the two components and bam! Welcome to 2012. The future is now. It was only a matter time before Old Saybrook fell in line with the other shoreline dominos and got itself a self-serve frozen yogurt bar. First it happened in New Haven. Then Guilford. Then Branford. Then Madison. Now Old Saybrook. So much for innovation. Call me a nonconformist and anti-hipster, but I’m usually suspicious of copycat businesses. Having said all that, I do like helping myself to some frozen yogurt every now and then. I like that I can control the amount of yogurt and toppings in my cup. I’ve now got it down to a science where I usually put less in my cup than my eyeballs perceive. It takes discipline. And I usually stick with the lighter weight toppings. These tricks help keep my cost down and I consider it a «win» if my total comes under $ 4. It ain’t easy. The interior to Sweet Luna’s is set up like all the other frozen yogurt places mentioned above. It’s no different. They all share a similar modern sterile appearance. And the walls are painted in many different colors that looks like a rainbow giant’s butt exploded. I think if I were to open a frozen yogurt joint, I would decorate it exactly opposite. Just to mess with people’s heads, I would decorate it with dark mahogany walls, lots of leather seating, and very dim lighting. Plus for kicks, I’d throw in a really cheesy nautical theme complete with fish nets and starfish. Now THAT would be one heck of a looking frozen yogurt joint… but I digress. I hope that eventually someday there’s so many frozen yogurt places, they’re all forced into a pricing war and prices eventually drop. That’s what happened on the west coast where froyo prices are slightly lower than those here in Connecticut. Now if you’ve sat there and read this review to the very end, give yourself a pat on the back. I doubt I would have read it all myself. In addition to being anti-hipster I’m also usually anti-rambler. Usually.

Delicious but be careful! Without warning, adding too many toppings could end up with a $ 8 dessert(oops)! So — yes very simple and delicious, but watch your wallet!

Luna’s is pretty awesome minus the huge hole it’ll leave in your wallet. Aside from the $$$ this place has a great selection of non-fat and gluten free yogurts And a huge and fun selection of toppings. Be careful though because you pay by the ounce!

I’m a huge fan of this place. Everyone always tells me how good Pinkberry is, but it doesn’t even hold a candle to Sweet Luna’s in my opinion. This is a little kid’s(or my, a 26 year old) dreams come true. You go in, get a big cup, fill it with however much yogurt of whatever flavor you want, then you walk down the row of delicious toppings(chocolate, broken up candy bars, fruit, hot fudge, whipped cream) and add whatever you want. Their yogurt is delicious and they always have really great flavors. You pay by the ounce, and it’s not inexpensive, and it just gets more expensive because you can’t keep yourself from adding more toppings :) For 4 of us, we’ll spend around $ 25. When we’re visiting people in Old Saybrook, we’ll regularly go to Sweet Luna’s for dinner. Amazing. Highly recommend, you can’t help but have fun while you’re there.

Great frozen yogart that is apparently either fat free(vanilla) or low fat(several other flavors). That is BEFORE you add the toppings. It sure doesn’t taste fat free. They have some delightful flavors even without putting toppings on. The only reason I don’t give this five stars is the cost. It’s not inexpensive. Comparitively speaking, you can buy two similarly sized ice creams at the other soft serve ice cream place in town for less than half the price of Sweet Luna’s. Those of you familar with Saybrook know where it is, it’s the one where all the little league players go after a game. Additionally, Sweet Luna’s only offers one cup size… Large. Anyway, that doesn’t stop me from going here because the«screem» is good. Business seems to be pretty good every time I go… I hope they can make it through a quiet winter when it’s only townies that are around…

I am a huge California and Boston yogurt shop fan. I was excited when Sweet Luna opened early this summer. However, Sweet Luna’s yogurt is pricey compared with the same kind of yogurt shop in New Haven. I like tart vanilla yogurt topped with mochi. They will not order Mochi which is a soy-sweetened topping perfect for those who watch their calories. It is very popular elsewhere. I was disappointed when I returned a couple of times to discover that they had not added mochi as a topping.

I am a frozen-yogurt FAN! I was excited to stop at this new shop in Old Saybrook. Although I loved the California citrus yogurt I selected and my husband liked the yogurt flavor/toppings he selected, the price was a bit too high for a simple treat. You pay per ounce, however they deduct the weight of the one-size-fits-all cup you put your fro-yo into. We did not even fill half the cup with yogurt, yet we paid over $ 14 for the 2 cups! I had no toppings on mine; my husband put a few strawberries and blueberries on his. Good quality, fairly high price.

Have you ever gone to an ice cream shop and couldn’t decide what you wanted because there were too many good choices? And then when you get what you ordered you wish you had a little of something else? Well problem solved because at Sweet Luna’s you can have a little of everything! We stopped in here yesterday with the family because I had noticed that it was new, but did not know it was a self serve frozen yogurt place, which is very exciting. The deal is you can serve your own yogurt with any and off of the toppings your little heart desires and then you pay per weight for your custom concoction. I shared a yogurt with my two year old and he was thrilled about putting m&ms on his yogurt because they are favorite and I was happy because I got a little something of what I liked too. The colors inside a bright and cheerful as are the ladies attending the customers. I think this is a great spot to stop in for a cool treat and am excited to go back.
