My girlfriend and I were on a cross country road trip this summer in our ’87 VW Westfalia Camper. We started in California, making our way east. I noticed an issue with one of my upper ball joints while we were in New York. I gave David a call after finding him on Unilocal and we scheduled a time to come in the next day as we were making our way north. He inspected the van and noticed we needed 3 of the ball joints replaced as they were all in bad shape, one having totally failed. I explained our situation and how this van was our home and we couldn’t really afford to leave it at the shop for an extended amount of time. So, he ordered the parts, gave us a loaner car and by the end of the following day the work was completed and we were on our way, even though the shop was slammed with other cars. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Honest, organized and professional. Thank you again David!

You can take your classic car elsewhere, but you would be a fool. I learned the hard way that I should have gone to Cardone and Daughter first after I tried other shops. Now I will not take my car anywhere except C&D. They have a professional and highly skilled staff who love old cars. They went through my Pontiac as if it were their own car, and got it back into shape quickly and with reasonable cost.
I really like their open shop policy. They openly welcome you to stop in or call anytime to get an update on the car. They keep detailed records and can always tell you what the car needs, what has been done, and what to look for. They also have excellent communication with the customer. With each development they contact you and let you know where the project is headed. David always takes the time to walk you through every step of the process and gives you options as to what can wait and what should be fixed during this visit.
What is most impressive is the CARE they put into your car. They want the car to be right before it leaves the shop, not just better. For my own car they have contacted people around the country looking for the correct parts. In some cases they have had to practically make a part, such as the lower control arm bushings on my car, because the factory correct parts are no longer available.
Don’t waste your time or money anywhere else. There is a reason I drive 45 minutes each way to have my classic car serviced by C&D and that is because they really are that good!

David Cardone, Daughter and Co. are the best mechanics on the Connecticut shoreline, as far as we am concerned. They have also been recognized as such — just see the awards on the walls when you get there. Once upon a time David was the head of Service for a local Honda dealership. He was so good that he branched out on his own. They will take care of your car like it was their own. David will always be honest and up front with you. They have great integrity. They maintain a record of your car and will often remind you of something that really does need to be serviced, like the timing belt for example. A number of the cars they sell have been cars they took care of for many years. When we moved away from the area, we had to make a special trip to say goodbye — they are that good! WE continue to send our friends and colleagues there, and keep an eye on the website from time to time to see what cars they have for sale. I’ve taken used cars I want to buy to them so I know what needs to be serviced before I buy it — worth every penny. Also, some of their mechanics have been with them for a long time, and that says a lot about the way they run their business. Our family trusted them for years. You cannot do better.
