Tried this place for the first time after a friend recommended it. Love the atmosphere and our waitress Jennifer was wonderful! We had the fettuccine bolognese and the calzone. Both huge portions and delicious. Will definitely be going back!

Good service and atmosphere. The Calzone, Lasagne are good choices. For desert, the Tiramisu is very good.

This evening was my first time here and I had the Veal. The veal was dry, lacked flavor, and very unremarkable. On top of that it was luke warm. I don’t recommend the dish. Several people at my table commented how their meals were not consistently hot. While their main was warm, the sides were cold. There are definitely issues going on with timing in the kitchen. The crème brûlée for dessert was very eggy and was not good. I commend the place for not charging me, but for the price of the menu, I won’t be back, that’s how bad my meal was. Sorry!

This is one my top 3 favorite restaurants ! And most people consider me to be a picky eater. The cooks here are the best cooks in the central coast ! Everything I have tried here I will never forgot ! Everything is fresh, cooked to perfection, and leaves and impact on you. When I came with my mom we couldn’t stop talking about how good the pork chops were for a whole week. Everything is responsibly priced for all the food you get. If you haven’t been here you are missing out !

The food has a lot of thought, love, and passion put in it. You can tell from the looks and taste. The bartender there is very cool.

Trattoria Uliveto is one of the most authentic Italian restaurants I’ve had the pleasure of dining at. It has a cozy atmosphere and phenomenal food and wine pairings. My personal favorite is the spinach ravioli, followed by the ciopinno – it’s difficult to get all the seafoods cooked just right and they do it very well.

Always take my wife here for her birthday and other special occasions. The place is the best for Italian food and the calzone’s are unequaled.
Guaranteed to get dessert when I get home.

I have mixed feelings about this place. We are locals who have wanted to try it for a long time. We got there early and got a table right away. Ordered wine and our dinner. I ordered a meal that is in their every day offering and my husband ordered a special pasta.
Salad came, it was delicious. Dinner came and that is where I was disappointed. My pork chop was beautiful on the top side, burnt black on the underside. I just could not eat it. The waiter said he would replace, but I declined. I did get free desserts for two.
My issue is that the chef sent out an inedible $ 28.00 pork chop that he thought I wouldn’t notice? No manager, no owner came to our table after the meal went back.
The place was packed, that is a good sign. Sending out meals that are inedible is bad. May give it a second chance.

Best food in Orcutt hands down! – whether lunch or dinner, everything is prepared fresh, delicious and service is fantastic! – Chef Alfonso Curti is a perfectionist and creates beautiful authentic Italian cuisine.

Great ambience! Food and drinks and dessert… Just amazing! It’s so lovely and adorable here.

Great place to stop on your journey. We had a quick salad and pizzas. Even their iced tea is good! Love the mixed greens salad with goat cheese and nuts. A margarita pizza is always a hit. Hubby had a shrimp pizza, also very good. Service was perfect! Thank you!

I thought the food was very good, but not any more amazing than other really good Italian restaurants I have been to. This probably IS the best Italian place in the Santa Maria area, I’ll give them that for sure ! But I will need to go back (and I will … I’d like to give them another chance to wow me …) and sample more items from the menu.
Other pros: the menu was varied with lots of daily specials that you won’t see online, and the service was friendly & attentive. Desserts were large … And again were very good, but not significantly better than others I have had.
One con: LOUD. Oh, so SO loud, even at 5 pm. No soft surfaces in there to absorb sound. Maybe the lunch hour is less crowded no thus less noisy ?
Summary: I will definitely go again, to try it once more, and see if it is either (1) quieter or (2) they turn out a dish that makes it worth putting up with the conversational roar. I’d like to give this place a chance to really impress me.

Excellent! We got there kind of late, about 8:45 on a Friday, so we were immediately seated. Drinks were promptly ordered– dirty martini and a bottle of Justin. Those arrived quickly and our waitress was very helpful when it came to ordering the food. We had the sole piccata, linguini crostacei, and a veal special. The sole was devoured instantly. The linguini was filled with perfectly cooked seafood. The veal special was a little iffy– there was an odd maple flavor to it. However, we didn’t say anything to our waitress because we did leave it up to her discretion to choose one of two veal offerings. Though we were there right up to closing, if not a little later, we never felt rushed and enjoyed our dining experience.

Top notch food EVERY TIME. This will continue to be our favorite spot in town. Food never disappoints. Service staff is always friendly. You will get friendly smiles as soon as you walk in. Marna, our server, is great. Always a great recommendation from her. Seth, the Busser, really kind and prompt. Love this place!

Excellent Italian Food– The chef here is a serious contender!

These are just two words to describe the service I had here on Valentine’s Day at Uliveto. As someone who works in the business — I know this is one of the busiest days of the year.
This place was slammed and thank goodness I had reservations for my boyfriend and I. We were seated upon arrival in the back and had an AMAZING experience.
Marna — the manager also was our server bc they were a bit understaffed that evening due to some of the servers being sick. She was HONESTLY the best. We told her we were not in a rush at all and to not worry about us as we wanted to enjoy our bottle of wine.
The pumpkin ravioli was HANDS DOWN the best pasta Ive had in my life.
Other standouts include:

Gluten lovers are welcome here! And if you’re trying gluten-​free, they can honor that — they have flourless chocolate cake and crème brûlée — delicious decadence. You can order by the piatto — seafood is delicious — remember Italy is surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea? If your idea of Italian food is pizza, they have that. It’s a combined kitchen — so only try this if it’s a diet experiment as opposed to a wheat allergy/​celiac disease which will make you ill from «cross-​contamination.». The recommended wines are usually local specials.
The only disappointment was in the vegetables that came with the meal. The serving was a bit sparse. I like a few more rather than just a tiny smattering of them in a cup with potatoes.
They do add some nice touches like handing out roses to the ladies on V-​Day. (My boo picked a winner.) The service did lag just a bit and we waited a long time from asking for a dessert menu to actually getting our delicious crème brûlée.
If you are a bit sensitive to noise, don’t seat in the main area with the wood floors because the sound tends to bounce around. They have a variety of seating options from outdoors to at the bar and you can pretty much dress however you like — up or down. Even the food has a range from common to classy. I guess that means you can bring the kids and have a family meal because there will be something for everyone — even your picky, vegetarian co-​worker. We’ve gone here a few times for special events and had a good time of it.
If you go during an off hour (very early) you can probably hit it for Valentine’s day even without a reservation.

I last rated Uliveto three years ago and gave them 5 stars. Today, I reiterate my first impression, as we have received consistently excellent food and service every single time we dine here. The ingredients are always fresh, there are no peaks or valleys to the quality, and you feel comfortable knowing you are going to receive great tasting dishes. Moreover, the service is always friendly and efficient. In sum, Uliveto remains an outstanding establishment, and IMO, the gem of old town Orcutt!

A very enjoyable dining experience in old town Orcutt.
We didn’t have a reservation however would recommend making one. We managed to secure a table with minimal wait (less than 5 minutes). The bar and restaurant packed. A good selection of menu items to choose from and all freshly prepared and quickly. I ordered the scampi with zucchini tossed in fettucini with garlic and olive oil. It was delicious. My companion a made to order pizza of eggplant and mozzarella cheese. The servings large and plenty for leftovers.
The house Chardonnay and Pino Grigio excellent choices to our meals. Ambience was wonderful.
If you are looking for a quiet place this would not be it as it was bustling with activity and noise which all only added to the dining experience. The server, Kelsey was delightful and quite helpful. Prices of menu items were within reason.
Highly recommend and will definitely go back to this charming restaurant.
