I have to agree with the reviewer below. I love Thai food and cook it well. That said, our food was so over cooked and over sugared I could barely eat it. The pad Thai was mush, the vegetables were all from a frozen package. The amount of sugar in every dish was staggering. It would be so much better without being so sweet. I love the décor and how clean the place was. The staff was fairly friendly. The prices reasonable and cheap if you got the lunch special. The potstickers were more a home style Thai version with homemade dough pancake and a pork ball filling. This place would be great if they would just balance the flavors, use some fresh produce and not over cook everything.

Have loved this place for several years, but something has happened… Before our food came, a nearby table was talking about how the place«has gone downhill». They went on to say that the food is terrible. Unfortunately they were correct. The Pad Thai was one big clump of mush. The edamame was so overcooked that I am positive it was previously cooked and likely microwaved. Finally, the Tamarind Duck — the duck was actually bad, and l bet was old and way past being safe to serve. The first sign of this was the inability to cut it with a knife. There were onions, sliced carrots and two small corn. Nothing more on the plate, except the bad duck. So disappointing and so sad to see this place go downhill so fast.

I’m from NYC and have high Thai standards! This place meets and exceeds them. The place is overall pretty small inside, seating maybe 18. The ambiance could be better in the way that there is no background music playing and you can hear what everyone is saying around you. The drinks are very reasonable $ 3 – 6 for wine and beer. I really haven’t had a bad meal here. The crab rangoons are delectable as are the soups. I have eaten the green curry, pad thai and spicy pad Thai with both pork and chicken. All are very delicious. The service is always quick and friendly. A must try!

Really very well done Thai food… we are from Chicago, which has a wealth of amazingly authentic Thai restaurants… Bua Thai would certainly fit in well there. Great depth of flavors in all dishes we have had over at least 6 visits… nice atmosphere… great service… and food made with true care. Better than any Thai in downtown Portland… what a find! But FYI folks… Thai culture DOESNOT use chopsticks… they provide them for us Americans because we cannot delineate between Thai and Chinese(and they also give fortune cookies, which has NO Thai basis whatsoever… but I digress) …but seriously, just use your forks and keep it real…

My wife and I eat there weekly for over a year. The food is always fresh, tasty, and the portions generous. And the price is quite reasonable. We are greeted with a smile and through all the good service. We certainly look forward to our weekly visit… a great local restaurant!

With nearly the sidewalks rolled up for the season, we had a tough time finding anything besides pizza. We saw the decent reviews on Unilocal for this place and decided to try it. At first, we were worried as there was one car parked out front but it was a weekday. We were pleasantly surprised and the food was good.

I was extremely surprised to find legitimate Thai food in a town like OOB. It’s excellent. The place is unique and the service is great as well. The only bad thing is that the portions for the noodles are too small.

On our last night in Maine, we were so full of lobster, we needed a break before we made ourselves sick. Rather than be logical and made a home cooked healthy meal, we decidedon Thai take out. I was worried we were about to wreck our stomachs for the long drive home… but, fortunately, Bua Thai was good to us and we made it home with no issues :) We ordered some basic takeout — pad thai, curry, sticky rice. Found the sticky rice to be very dry, curry to be a bit too spicy but I realized they never really asked me what temperature I wanted, so I can’t complain. I should have known to say something(husband doesn’t like spicy). Pad thai was good, basic. Nothing crazy. Loved the chicken dumplings — again, nothing amazing but at the same time, when in a touristy town like OOB, you expect to get mediocre food. We were surprised at how much we enjoyed the food — ate all of it. No leftovers… so it must have been good! If we return to OOB, I would not hesitate to go again. We did take out so I can’t comment too much on the inside of the restaurant — the woman on the phone and the cashier who helped us were both very nice.

Got a take out«red curry chicken» meal at Bua while on vacation in Maine for a week. I have to admit that even though the place was packed, I was able to walk-in and get a meal to go in only about 15 minutes, which is nice. I am particular about my Thai and my meal from Bua was very good. The portion was large, with plenty of chicken and vegetables and the flavor was very good. If I were local I would visit regularly! My only complaint(it’s minor), was that they didn’t ask about spice level. As ordered, it was very good(medium), but I would have liked it hotter.

Very good! We arrived in Ocean Park and needed to have dinner. I felt like vegetables and noodles for dinner and this place was highly recommended. A menu was provided and we called the order in.(Thursday about 9:00pm.) they said it would be 15 minutes to come pick up. I had the cashew nut stir fry over Thai rice noodle, also ordered for our group was steamed chicken dumplings, vegetable egg rolls, asparagus shrimp/chicken, spicy fried rice and a salmon dish. All were excellent and were ready for pick up when we arrived. Would certainly go again the next time we are in town. Fresh dishes and reasonable price for the portions you get and location.

GOOD: Great food, good prices and fast service. I had the Tom Khar Gai(soup) and a duck dish. Very good. BAD: Not much to say here. The only thing that I could say would be to have more of an open air siting area. OVERALL: Really good food, try this place out.

After a 2 hour drive up to OOB to spend the weekend with my family, I got there after everyone had already eaten dinner, and there wasn’t really anything left for me, so I called the first Thai place I found on Unilocal,Bua Thai. I couldn’t find a website or a menu online after a couple of minutes, so I just called and had to ask if they had the certain things I usually get when I eat Thai food, a little awkward I guess. They told me 25 minutes to be delivered to our hotel. After 45 minutes, I gave them a call. They said, 15 more minutes. I called again 30 minutes later, and they said they were really busy. It took an hour and a half for them to deliver my food! Kind of ridiculous. Tom kha soup was good, but not the best I had. Spring rolls were really greasy. Pad thai was good, but also not the best I had. Honestly, not worth the wait.
