Lousy food, all frozen boxed crap… no cooking here also ordered a Free State beer, I had to point out that it was expired right on the label of the bottle, why did they serve this, who is checking expiration dates? Is this how the food is too?

I’m really not sure what could make Uncle Buck’s a better experience to dine at. I had eaten at the Islamorada Fish Company which is the equivalent of Uncle Bucks at the Mesa Arizona store and the atmosphere was much better. There were hardly any people in the restaurant on a Tuesday evening and the restaurant itself didn’t seem put together very well with restaurant supplies taking up all the space on one of the booths. By no fault of their own, there were wait staff socializing and hanging around simply because there wasn’t much for them to do. The food was average at best. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries and my kids had two kids meals. Nothing remotely to brag about, but it was OK. The service level was not good at all considering we were one of three tables being served. While I think there could be great potential for Uncle Bucks, our experience there was not anything I would go out of my way to recommend to friends. Not sure what made the experience at the Mesa AZ store different, but the Olathe location should take some notes from other stores on how to market their restaurant better.

Mushroom and Swiss burger with the parmasean fries. My kids had the sliders. Overall nice place in a casual environment. We like to eat here to have something off the beaten path.

Their food wasn’t good, their service was poor and they need to work on their tv channel selection.

Great food when we finally got it– bit slow on the service but fairly priced — great atmosphere at bass pro and had the Chiefs game on!

Arrived about 7pm on a Saturday night. Not a single patron and four employees standing around. Made a comment about the lack of diners and the response was that they’re all out at the local fair. Should have taken that as a recommendation to go eat at the local fair. For being a completely empty restaurant with four employees standing around, I’d expect the place to be clean. Unfortunately, several tables were dirty as if diners had just gotten up. Service was friendly and met expectations initially. Ordered the fish and chips/alligator combo and substituted regular fries for Parmesan garlic fries, the Boar Burger, and two side salads. I’ve been noticing a trend with a lot of restaurants lately where they bring your salad out with your meal without asking if you’d prefer otherwise. Uncle Buck’s is no different. So after waiting a while, we mentioned to our server that we’d like the salad before the meal. When the food did come, the fries were mushy and cold. The burger is normally served with fries also but there were none in this case. When asked, the server stated she subbed the fries with one of the salads to save cost. I actually would have liked to have the fries(provided the regular fries wouldn’t be cold and soggy like the parmesan garlic). The fish was about average, the alligator was mostly breading, and the boar burger was extremely salty. Once she delivered our food, she disappeared and had to be tracked down to refill drinks. Once we were finished, «here’s your check, no rush» came across as «get out so we can go back to standing around». We should have gone to the carnival instead.

Great location, pretty nice décor, friendly staff… so why was the place nearly deserted? Ah, the food. There’s a lot of room for improvement! I’ve never had fries that were actually so overcooked they were hard. What ‘lured’ me here? I wanted to try Alligator. Yup! It was a dreary November day and I wanted a little excitement so I figured it might perk me up to try something new. Turns out I like it! I had the«across the pond» platter which is fish and chips with some alligator nuggets. The two small pieces of fish(think a little bit bigger than a fish stick), about 8 alligator nuggets and the overdone fries were served in a big wicker basket lined with wax paper. Husband had the steak with garlic fries and was also very disappointed. His fries were worse than mine! Little tooth breaking sticks with loads of crushed garlic dumped on them. His steak was cooked medium well, but was so chewy that most of it was left on his plate when his jaw got tired. I can only blame poor quality meat. For the price, nowhere near to meeting our expectations! Please work on the food as we would love to come again and see that things have improved!

Ate there with the kids and wife after visiting Santa. 45 minute wait. And hardly no one in the place. Sat down and waited another 40 minutes for the food. Had one of the burgers. No flavor and dry. Daughter had the steak. Dry and no flavor. My other one had Mac and cheese. Cold. I mean, how can u mess up Mac and cheese??? Not coming back.

My first impression was the sticky menus. The restaurant looked clean overall, but little things like this make me cringe because it speaks to the detail cleaning that occurs. I tried Uncle Buck’s a few years ago and was neither impressed nor disappointed. Being I was at Bass Pro and my tummy was grumbling I decided to stop by. I ordered a swiss and mushroom burger with fries. The menu said it had an option of thick fries or seasoned fries. I wasn’t presented with an option other than fries or chips. The fries I got were not seasoned except with salt and I wouldn’t necessarily call them thick. Regardless they were good. Nice and crunchy and big enough to be meaty. They still had skins on them which is a plus for me. The burger was excellent. Thick and juicy. The mushrooms could have been seasoned, but were cooked well. The cheese was the perfect amount. The meal also came with cole slaw. I generally am not a fan of what I call«picnic foods», but tried it and it was really good. Not heavy with mayo. My waitress was very friendly and efficient. The other waitress looked a little frantic and overwhelmed. There was a third working a big group in the back room and the second waitress appeared to be helping her while maintaining her second. The big group appeared to be a work meeting. The noise was a little annoying. They seemed to be playing a round of If You’re Happy and You Know because they would have a round of three claps every few minutes. They pulled the doors half shut after a bit, but it didn’t help. They probably should close the doors when having meetings in the back room. They have a limited draft beer selection, but decent choices and appear to have a full bar. There is a giant salt water fish tank with a few colorful fish and a bunch of boring ones, but fun to watch. Overall, burger was top notch and would go back. Just would check the menu online and decide before I go so I don’t have to touch their nasty, gooey, slimy ones. I didn’t try the alligator this time, but have before and it is a must try if you stop by!

Uncle Buck’s at Bass Pro in Olathe is amazing — under new leadership, Joe has taken his staff to new heights regarding customer service and food preparation. The grilled chicken salad I had this last week was amazing and the attention to detail made the presentation one of the best I’ve ever seen… and I AM a grilled chicken salad EXPERT :)

I have been here about dozen times never by my choosing. One of the guys I work with likes the grilled fish sandwich here and he offers to buy so I say ok. I have never had the grilled sandwich because it is covered in butter. Most of the food there is actually covered in dairy. I can eat the pulled pork sandwich but it is really fatty and you have to take the time to dig the fat out of the sandwich. The burgers are edible but you can tell the are frozen. The fries are either burned or raw most of the time. I can eat the alligator but I have to ask them not to batter it but roll it in corn meal then cook it and they always over cook it. Service is usually slow and the waiters are not that friendly. The host an old guy is really nice but he only seats you and then you have to deal with a server and good luck there.

Why does this place even bother? I ordered a Quesadilla Salad and after waiting over 45 minutes, returned to my seat to find a plate filled with mounds of bacon, hard boiled egg, lettuce, and garlic bread. A Cobb Salad had appeared on the table. When I went to find our server and let her know she brought someone else’s meal, I overheard her talking to her co-workers about how she was so «stressed out». We were a party of 20, but we were the only people in the restaurant. She said she would fix it, but she didn’t seem very confident. Since I was already the last person in our group served, I said never mind and went back to the table. I explained to the guy next to me that this was nothing like I ordered, and he said«Tell me about it; I ordered a Chili Cheese Burger». And he was eating a Triple Hamburger with no cheese or chili. What is wrong with this place? Since I was a date/guest at this party and didn’t know anyone, I didn’t complain to the server again. However, I assumed she would apologize and offer maybe a drink or dessert. Comp a portion of my meal. Nope. She dropped off the check and bolted. Our server could have been just having a rough day, but I’m not going to make a second visit to find out.
