Holiday Inn Express & Suites Olathe North

My husband requested a specific suite three weeks in advance of our arrival. He was assured we could get that suite, no problem. Check-​in started at 4:00 pm. We arrived at 4:05 pm and were told that our room was not ready. Instead we were offered the suite for handicap accessibility. That suite has limited furniture and only one TV. Our suite was finally ready at 4:50 pm. We were told the delay was due to being full the night before. In our suite the air conditioner is located next to the bed, and the fan was not adjustable. It was either full blast or be hot. The coffee maker did not work. Strangely, the next morning the maid service knocked at our door at 10:00 am to clean the room. She said that she was told we were checking out. Apparently if a room is not reserved, it gets cleaned first for walk-​ins. We checked out and went to Drury Hotel and Suites for a nicer room, better amenities and less money. We visit the Olathe area every year for family but would never go back to this Holiday Inn Express.

Hotel is nice as always. My stay was for 6 days and each day I had to leave at 6am for work. The man working the front counter in the mornings refused to unlock the mini fridge with milk and yogurt so that I could have a bowl of cereal before I left for work each day.
If you offer complimentary breakfast, this should start earlier than 630 in my mind.
What I was asking was an easy task to succumb to in order to keep a repeat customer. I will be thinking about going somewhere else next time.

A very nice hotel, especially for the price. The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, the pool and hot tub were excellent. No complaints and will definitely stay there again.

This is a very nice hotel, indeed. The décor is a bit weird — they go very, very over the top on the wild west theme — but beyond that, I can’t really complain about too much, except a temporary parking issue that I’ll mention later.
The staff here is very friendly, and the lobby is very clean and roomy, with plenty of places to sit down. As far as the rooms, there are some different options, all of which are fairly spacious, but some are better than others. The suites are great — wet bar, fridge, separate bedroom, spacious bathroom. Everything is clean. There are a few rooms that only overlook the pool and have no exterior view, which kinda stinks.
Breakfast is free but not terribly good. Internet is fast enough. Room rates are quite fair, and there are tons of restaurants around, as well as highway access.
So, the parking issue — they are building a new hotel next door, and they were also re-​doing the roof at the Comfort Suites at the same time. Therefore, there were a lot of roofers at the hotel, all taking up the closest of parking spots. There was plenty of room in the fenced-​off construction area, but instead, the hotel just had them (or at least let them) take up all close parking spots, leaving the paying customers having to park further away or even in the Buffalo Wild Wings parking lot (which can itself be completely full at times). Not acceptable in my opinion.
