My appointment was at 9am. I arrived a little early and checked in at the desk. After waiting and waiting in the lobby, my phone rang. It was the lady at the front desk asking if I’d be honoring my appointment. Obviously, her failure to check me in was an innocent mistake. What followed was not only disappointing but incredibly odd for such an upscale spa. Once I put on a robe and got to the esthetician, she was very sour over my being late. I explained that I had arrived early and been forgotten about in the lobby. She explained that this would shorten my service time. She was not friendly. So, I went to the desk, expecting to be re booked for another time and given at least a smile if not an apology. No. The manager came out and said they would pull the surveillance tape to see if I was, indeed, early for my appointment. He was quite smirky. The lady at the front desk was fully aware of what happened. She stood there with a frozen smile as this was going on. Perhaps she didn’t want to get into trouble for her error? It was quite interesting being called a liar and treated in such a rude fashion. At least they did not charge me with their 6 hour cancellation policy. On my way out I spoke with another guest who was staying on the grounds. She said she was disappointed that the vibe was so pretentious and had not expected it. Based on some of the other reviews here, it is entirely possible that I caught them at a bad time. Hopefully, the staff is not always this rude. Mistakes happen. It is understandable that someone failed to check me in or notice me waiting in the lobby for so long. It is not acceptable to lose my service time and be treated so rudely over it. There are a handful of spas in downtown Ojai. Today I will be checking one of them out.

Drove up from LA and spent my Sunday afternoon here. Was a little pricey(total came out to almost $ 200 for a 50 minute service). The massage itself was great, and the facilities are beautiful. However, they really need to pay more attention to cleanliness. I expected more from an upscale spa. Bathrooms were overflowing with trash, and empty water and tea cups were scattered everywhere. Also, I wanted to use the dry sauna but couldn’t find clean towels anywhere. I wound up having to lay down a couple of washcloths to sit on. Quite annoying.

One of the best spas that I’ve been to. First of all, Ojai is a beautiful town and this resort’s grounds are gorgeous as well. The spa is designed beautifully and although crowded at times, you didn’t feel it like at some other spas. I was always able to use the other amenities such as the steamroom/sauna without any problem and find a nice spot to relax or doze off. Their teas they offer are also delicious. Will definitely miss since I don’t live in LA area anymore and won’t be able to just drive up when some R&R is needed. Only complaint I have is the parking area is hidden close by the spa at back of the resort so you have to drive through the resort to get there. My first time there, I parked in the front of the resort and it was explained to me that spa was all the way in the back of resort and a bit of a walk from the front but was offered a ride via a golf cart from the staff which was nice of them.

Enjoyed an oxygen hydrating facial for the first time. It was very relaxing and enjoyable. Facilities are not bad. They had areas to relax in, private showers, steam room, spa, etc. Only non enjoyable moments were flight of stairs to climb up and down from treatment area to check in. Other than that, everything else was wonderful.

This is truly a crown jewel in beautiful Ojai. We swam, we spa’d, we took a wonderful yoga class. The grounds here are just breathtaking. If you are ever in need of some r&r, do not hesitate to book your next trip here. We LOVED it.

This place lives up to its rating in every way. Attention to detail was what stuck out the most. Pleasant & accommodating staff. Robe, locker and flip flops provided. There is a eucalyptus steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi, indoor fire places in almost every room. Cucumber water, cranberry/nut snacks and assortment of tea around every corner. The property is just absolutely gorgeous. Went with a group of 3 girls, we all chose the 50 minute massage and I would say it was the best massage I have ever had. Whatever the oil is that they use there, I want it! They even warm your robe so at the end of your massage its nice and toasty. Seriously felt like royalty, if just for a day :) I will be back each and every time I’m in the area.

Spa Ojai is the only place I trust when it comes to a great facial or massage. The service is always top notch and they make everyone feel special. I had the Himalayan stone massage yesterday with Elizabeth and it was the BEST massage I have had in years(and I’ve been to many places in L.A.). She took a minute to examine my back and body type before tailoring the massage to my needs. The spa charges an automatic 20% gratuity when you check in and pay, and if I had known I would have had someone like Elizabeth, I would have easily tipped more to show my gratitude.

This review is primarily for the gym/fitness center. For a resort gym, it gets the job done. There’s enough cardio machines to get your sweat on and every one has it’s own TV. I went twice in the early AM and every machine had a bottle of water and workout towel waiting for you. This was a nice gesture… and a subtle reminder to wipe up your nasty sweat after use! The weight machines were decent. There isn’t every piece of equipment of full-size gym, but enough to work the major muscle groups and get a pump. There are no barbells or weighted plates, and free-weights stop at 50 lbs. The serious weightlifter might feel slightly stifled, but like I said for a resort gym this is pretty good. I didn’t take any classes so no comment there. But they had lots to offer and all are included in your resort fee for overnight guests. They also have moonlight Yoga when its a full moon. (Side note — my coworker did get a Warm Himalayan Salt Stone Massage in the spa and said it was fabulous! Oh, and they accept Spafinder gift certificates.)

This spa is the best of the best! Absolutely AMAZING!!! It is not only gorgeous and the epitome of relaxation, but I also received the best facial I have ever had at this spa! It is a full day spa so they have a pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, and relaxation room. When I visited, I believe they used Arcona products and I have since started using them at home — really really wonderful products! This place is a haven, definitely a treat!

Came here for girls weekend and OHMYGOOD… I had one of the best days of my life!!! Everything was just perfect. The grounds, the people, the services… ugh…I could live here forever. Got the foot paraffin wax and sea mineral body wrap. The body wrap was superb! I wish I had it longer than 50 mins. She even added a little bit of massage on my neck, shoulders and head. My other friend had the relaxation massage and she said it was great! I love the fact they have(almost) everything you need, like razors, hair brush, dryer, lotion, etc. My girlfriends joked about having my wedding here… I am actually considering it! Such an amazing place.

I took my sister who was visiting from the east coast to the spa for a day of relaxation and pampering. It was amazing. The grounds are a visual treat. The employees are beyond nice. Judi at the spa front desk is THEBEST. She has been at Spa Ojai for many years, but her attitude is so friendly and outgoing, its obvious she loves her job. We did the Kuyam treatment and our therapist Randi was wonderful. She took care of our needs efficiently, but quietly without ever disturbing our meditation. After our Kuyam we were escorted to a private deck where we lounged for an hour. Reading magazines, napping, and sunbathing. We enjoyed the cucumber water while using the steam and sauna. So refreshing! We made a memory that will last a lifetime! My husband and I are planning a spa day in Oct for our anniversary.

First of all, the surroundings are no doubt beautiful. On a lush golf course, there are many white Spanish-style buildings with great landscaping. The Spa itself is a complex composed of many different rooms, courtyards, and pools. I came here for a special Couples treatment, which included a private hot tile room where meditation music and instructions were played over the speakers while you rub clay over yourself(don’t even ask what I’m talking about). It was cool though, followed afterwards by a shower and hanging out on a private outdoor patio area. All very tranquil. Service is quite good, and for $ 20, you can use all the facilities on the site, including a gym, a lounging pool, swimming pool, and various jacuzzis, both indoor and outdoor. Everyone walks around in robes, which makes you feel Greek. There is also a café that serves food and drinks poolside, Café Verde(see my review on this place). I’ve been to better resorts and spas for sure overseas, but since this place is pretty close to where I live comparatively, I’ll take it!

Love this resort and spa! Awesome customer service, attn to detail, and great amenities! Am getting a deep tissue massage and body scrub. The massage had all the luxuries — cushiony face pillow, heated pad, heated neck and eye mask, and heated robe once treatment was done. I loved the body scrub! The scrub was warm with big grains with some oil so it wasn’t dry, which I liked. The body lotion was also warm. A great experience! Tea, apples, raisins, nuts, spa water, and little rooms, couches, magazines, café, and the usual sauna, lap pool, pool, etc are here! Would def come again!
