At first I thought it was a tad expensive and almost walked away. Then I got my food and knew that I had made the right choice. Be creative when ordering if you can, the menu presented can be altered to your liking. Oh and gelato, gelato, gelato. Then try the other deserts which are noteworthy in their own right.

Best Cesar salad in Ojai and Ventura county. Love the vine covered walls on the patio.

We came here for an early dinner on a Monday between Christmas and New Year’s. Ojai had left me fairly unimpressed overall, especially downtown and its restaurant options. We were staying in Meiners Oaks, and our host had highly recommended Papa Lennon’s. I was definitely pleasantly surprised. We ordered the Papa’s Favorite pizza, the Roasted Vegetable panini, and a bottle of wine. Prices are reasonable, especially if you’re accustomed to the ridiculousness that is SF. The food came out fairly fast but everything is still made fresh. Both the pizza and sandwich were delicious. It was pretty chilly outside that day(by Southern California standards, that is), and the inside had a nice, warm glow and lively atmosphere that made for a very enjoyable dinner. It gets really busy around 6pm(or maybe that was just because of the holidays), so you’ll want to get here early or risk waiting for a table. I imagine that’s less of a problem on warm days when the tables out front and side patio are open, though. The staff is extremely friendly, doesn’t rush you when ordering, and seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs and customers. If I’m ever passing through Ojai again, I’ll be coming back here for sure.

A nutty busty experience in a traditional style. Get any pie and you know it’s fresh. Now it’s my garlic fry soup call. It’s good and 5

My wife and I were staying at the Ojai Valley Inn but rather than eat on property we decided to use Unilocal to explore a few local hot spots, which ultimately lead us here on a Sunday night. The place had big windows in front with warm lighting that pulled you in from outside. The inside dining area isn’t very big and was pretty packed but they have an outdoor patio complete with heaters(some worked, some didn’t), a water fountain, small and large tables(could easily accommodate a group of 15) and overhanging white Christmas lights that added to the very cozy atmosphere. For dinner we decided to share a veggie lover pizza and beetnik salad. The veggie pizza was good and came on a thin crispy crust. I’m sure it won’t contend with your favorite pizza but on this night it was perfect and just the right size for two to share. The salad was very fresh and the vinaigrette just right, also perfect for two to share. Making things even better, the cost for both items with their house red(in a clear cup not a wine glass) and a Diet Coke(in a can, no fountain) was only about $ 27, roughly the cost of a single entrée at some of the other places we checked out. Tips: They bring the food out to you but they have a small station with salt, pepper, napkins, utensils, etc. so you need to get those yourself. On the way out we ordered a NY cheesecake to go. It was really good and came with caramel sauce and a raspberry sorbetto, which complimented the dessert nicely. Once again, perfect size for two to share. Final Word: Try it or Diet? Skip your diet tonight and try this place. Good, affordable and great atmosphere. Eat here.

This was a cute little pizzaria in Ojai, CA. You just order at the counter and they bring your food out when its ready. Very yummy and fresh. They have great beer on draft. We ordered a specialty pizza, ceasar salad, and garlic fries. Fast and friendly but far from a fast food place. They have a outside patio as well. Felt like I was in Italy!

I was expecting great things from this place based on the Unilocal reviews but it wasn’t as fabulous as expected. The garlic fries were delicious and I enjoyed my Rosemary chicken sandwich, but my friend’s penne pasta and the focaccia bread starter were just so-so. The pizzas all looked really good — maybe my friend should have gotten that instead.

Stopped in for lunch based on other reviews. Ordered the Spaghetti and meatballs for me and rosemary chicken panini for my wife. Both meals were excellent and would recommend either one. Only minor complaint(not even worth reducing the star rating) would have been to include some bread to soak up the delicious sauce with the Spaghetti. Sorbet and gelato for dessert was very good, especially on a 100 degree day. Will be back when in town.

The feel of the place is nice too! Homey vibe with kind staff and a cute look with an outside portion with string lights, tons of greenery, and flowers! GREATFORALLAGES!

It was a cute cozy place and I loved the food. The only thing I didn’t like was I had to clean the table myself, serve myself, and lots of flies inside. The outside sitting is cute. The food is amazing so definitely doesn’t stop me from coming here

Came here for dinner the weekend I was in town. Papa Lennons Pizzeria is not located on the main stretch of downtown Ojai — instead, it’s tucked in Meiner’s Oak where commerce and residential houses intermingle side by side. The outdoor dining area is incredibly, incredibly cute. Lights are strung across the patio, thick ivy vines climb up and down the wall, and the whole space just kinda glows and vibrates with the Ojai vibe. It’s fast casual here, order at the counter and seat yourself. My friend and I shared the following: –papa’s favorite: white sauce pizza made with three cheeses, topped with blackened chicken, mushrooms, artichoke and cilantro. Normally I don’t like white sauce pizza because it just feels and sits in my stomach a little heavier than what I normally like, but this pizza was good. Nice chewy crust. Flavorful toppings. Good. Good. Good. –pasta primavera: sautéed seasonal vegetables + fettucini noodles. This was so good. So good. The vegetables were bursting with flavor and the pasta was al dente. Combined, the entire dish was stella. This also made for ridiculously good leftovers the next morning. My evening at Papa Lennons was a little chilly. The stream of bulb lights illuminated the space into a romantic hazy glow. The ivy. The patio. Everything. Was so perfect. ANDTHEN. The group of what appeared to be twenty something year olds busted out their guitar and sang songs. That basically sealed the night and solidified my love for Ojai.
