Right now this place looks like a burnt wasteland. Sad side effect of our bad drought? Knowing that its summer, I was expecting at least some tall golden grass gently swaying in the breeze but no… this place looked more like a dirt field. There were a lot of ground squirrels darting around which was entertaining for our dog. Maybe try this place again in the spring or when we get rain again. Not worth stopping by.

Ojai Valley Land Conservancy administers several properties in the Ojai area. Ojai Meadows Preserve is on Hwy 33 adjacent to Nordhoff High School fields. It’s a great place for a stroll around the renovated wetlands area. I usually see bluebirds, ducks, herons, and red-winged blackbirds as I circle the pond and cross the bridge. Awesome views of the mountains surrounding Ojai Valley are visible throughout the walk. Dogs must be on a leash.

It’s about a 0.5 — 1 mile hike to get here to the waterhole, but my friends and I got lost multiple times so we actually ended up hiking around(in circles…) for at least 3+ miles. However when we finally got here, it was totally worth it! The waterhole was absolutely beautiful and serene! I wished I was in my bathing suit so I could have jumped into the cool water for a swim. This is definitely a great spot to explore with family and friends, and children seem to love jumping into the water from the rocks too. Such a nice little hidden gem!
