Human Arts Gallery

This is a really cool art gallery/​shop in the main arcade in Ojai. I’d window shopped soooooo many times but never been in until recently when I was browsing with a friend. We went through the entire store and they have an amazing aray of crazy, gorgeous art stuff. Lots of sculptures and décor pieces, but also stunning jewelry pieces. I want to go back when I’m by myself and find out how much those rings I liked were. I got the feeling they were probably out of my price range but I couldn’t tell as the prices were tucked away. Usually a sure sign of higher cost. ;P

Gorgeous little shop with home décor/​artisan works/​clothing/​jewelry from local artists. This shop makes you want to browse for hours! The husband and wife owners were super nice and engaging with customers. I wanted to buy a silver ring and they showed me several options by various artisans including the wife, but none were quite right.
I literally went to every other store in Ojai that sells jewelry looking for what I envisioned, but Human Arts was the closest to what I wanted, so I went back and asked if they could make me something custom. They said of course and that they could also mail it to me at home (L.A. area).
We discussed those options and the wife listened to all my wishes, then modified an existing piece so I could buy it right then and there. I love having something handcrafted as a memory of a trip, and this also holds a memory of a delightful store. You can tell the owners really care about what they are selling!

This is a really cool place to shop and browse. Unique gifts, jewelry, sculpture, furniture, kitchenwares, decorative arts. You will want to win the lottery, though, because the items that tempted me most were pricey. Then again, maybe I have expensive tastes.

Absolutely fantastic selection of «local» artists from across the country. They may not all be local to Ojai, but they are local where they live. The creativeness emanating from the pieces inside is incredible. Super unique, super creative and super cool. I found some pieces from an artist I bought a piece from years ago and added to my collection. I also got the most awesome glass globe — holographic, absolutely memorizing. I added it to my collection. I also bought the funniest wine holder and preserver. They have all kinds of items at all kinds of price points, from handmade kiddie socks, to wall art, to clothes… you name it… even furniture. The owners are very nice as well and we enjoyed speaking with them and learning about the various artists whose work was on display. If you are in Ojai, you must stop in here. You’ll be glad you did.

Out of what I saw on this street/​strip this was one of my favorites. The place reeked of artists’ wares. I wished I could have bought something there but artists work can cost a lot, as they should. They had amazing artisan jewelry, whimsical and labor intensive. There were your silken/​colorful clothing, wonderful to the touch and eyes. Unusual and wearable. There was furniture, that was not only handmade but painted in pictures.
I could eat it all up it was that good.

Engaging selection of unique pieces. Worth a slow browse. Excellent selection of gifts for those with everything.
