The food is always good, but the walleye is OUTSTANDING. My new favorite. Beautifully decorated for the season.

It was just ok. I expected it to be better since it’s advertised as a convention center. totally average.

Reserved a 10:30am breakfast buffet for 7. Upon arrival, given a LOT of attitude by the woman checking people in to the dining area. We were told our group was too large to accommodate, because of weddings, and our group would be split among 2 – 3 tables. The woman at checkin did nothing but roll her eyes, and act like we were a complete inconvenience. The breakfast buffet was nothing less than a let down. Think of a dressed up Golden Corral, or any of the other buffet-style eateries. In short, the food was greasy, poorly prepared(almost no flavor, on anything) and due to being treated like cattle by the staff, I will NOT be recommending or returning here.

We were staying at the Grizzly Water Park and wanted a nice meal. We had 7 in our party and made a reservation for 6pm. When we arrived, we were seated right away and our waitress was very attentive. Except for the food wait, which I blame on the kitchen, the service was fine. The food was probably some of the worst I had ever had at what was supposed to be a nice restaurant. Of our 7, we ordered walleye, a filet, meatloaf, turkey, salmon, kids pizza, and kids chicken nuggets. The filet was tender but flavorless. It went downhill from there… The meatloaf was cold, as well as all of the sides. The side veggies were mushy and cold. The salmon was over cooked and the glaze was solidified. The walleye was over fried and flavorless. The turkey was lower than TV dinner quality. It was dried out and tough. The kids pizza was burned black around the crust and doughy in the center. The manager comped the meal, which was mostly left uneaten and we turned down replacement food. Next time we will go to Hank’s.

Do not try the Filet mignon It was tiny and dehydrated and kinda tasted rancid. However the deep fried porkchops were awesome! Service was great! They have their own special brew really good!

Went for a hike and decided to eat in the lodge. Delicious! The food was so amazing! We were there for lunch. Had the turkey burger with homemade chips and my man had the rock burger with sweet potato fries and the starved rock beer. All of it was so so so good. And the prices were reasonable. Will definitely be going back and raving about the place! :-)

Driving up to Starved Rock State Park during winter time = no tourists crowding around you. My aunt took me here for Thanksgiving break and we had lunch at Elements. It was beautifully decorated with autumn leaves and cornucopias over fireplace. Since it was really slow, our waitress sparked up a conversation with us and made us felt very welcome. I got the soup of the day — potato cream soup, and it was delicious. Chunks of potatoes and very tasty. I also ordered the turkey burger while my aunt got the BBQ pulled pork. The burger was okay, nothing too special. Each sandwich came with an order of fries or sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were a bit salty for my taste. This restaurant is probably one of the few fancy restaurants in the Starved Rock State Park area so you don’t have much options for a nice meal. Service is great, decorations are beautiful, and food is decent.

We decided to take a drive to Starved Rock for the fall colors, and heard about the brunch, so we made a reservation for 1:30. Monica was our server, and she was very accommodating. Ok. Let’s be honest. It was just average. First of all, the salad was a big bowl of spring mix, which is better than iceberg lettuce, but there were no tomatoes, no peppers, no onions, no mushrooms. Very disappointing. Vegetable lasagna was from GPS Market Day. not homemade. Green beans were canned. Salmon was cold, and dried out… so was the fried chicken. Ham was very good. Desserts were typical store bought cheese cakes and pies. For $ 15.99 a person, I expected a much better quality. More selections. No mashed potatoes? ? Only one vegetable, and it’s canned? PARKINGIS A JOKE!!! people parking in tow zones, no parking areas. it took my husband 20 minutes to park.

Having lived my entire life in Chicago, I’m a bit of a food snob. When I made reservations for Elements I was afraid it would be another restaurant that managed to make the menu sound amazing but didn’t live up to the hype. Luckily, that wasn’t the case. Elements has a very inclusive menu, with lots of tasty veggie and GF options. My friend has further dietary restrictions and they were very helpful with finding items she would be able to eat(and still enjoy a full meal). We enjoyed everything from our drinks to the bread on the table to the dessert.(Which I reallllly shouldn’t have eaten. Gut bust!) The prices are fair for the location and food, and the server we had was very nice.

I ate there with my husband and our two young kids. They were very accommodating for young diners, the food came quickly, and everything tasted great. I had the fish tacos, my husband the seared tuna. It is a lovely place to end a long day of hiking in the park. The décor is rustic lodge. Pretty much any attire is appropriate. We had on jeans and hiking boots, while the table next to us was an older couple in more formal clothes. Everyone felt comfortable regardless.

Elements is the restaurant located at Starved Rock Lodge. It’s absolutely stunning inside and they offer patio seating that overlooks Starved Rock National Park. My husband and I ate here around six on a Sunday and it was completely empty so we were seated right away. I am assuming everyone checks out Sunday morning so keep that in mind when visiting because I’ve been told this place gets packed! Our waitress, Courtney, was outstanding. She was so pleasant and had a great personality. She was quick with our orders, stayed on top of refills, and cleared plates quickly(plus, she makes a great margarita)! The menu had great variety… sandwiches, steaks, salads, pot pies, etc. The margarita flatbread($ 8.50) is soooo good. I definitely recommend it as an app. For dinner, I ordered a house salad($ 4.50) and the goat macaroni and cheese with chicken($ 13.95). My husband ordered the caesar salad($ 4.50) and the NY strip steak with carrots and a baked potato($ 23.00). The salads were great – huge, crisp, very fresh. My mac and cheese was just okay. It tasted more like alfredo sauce with macaroni and some goat cheese sprinkled over it. What I didn’t like about it was the fact that the chef threw in what looked like a whole branch of rosemary! You should never put anything that’s not edible on a dinner plate. So I spent a lot of time pickin out giant pieces of rosemary. Didn’t like that. My husband thought his steak was great though. He devoured it. Overall, it was a great place with great atmosphere and awesome service. Prices are a little expensive and I wasn’t crazy about the mac and cheese but everything else on point!

I was totally impressed by this restaurant. The atmosphere was big and fun with a great patio and view out onto the river. They also have a big indoor dining area and a more intimate bar area. There were some interesting, unique things on the menu(french fried avocado was delicious!) and the burger was very solid and I’d order it again. My husband was disappointed in the roast beef sandwich as the beef was overcooked. I think if you stick to burgers and other bar staples you’re golden. Was a great, air conditioned escape from our hot hike at starved rock. Definitely would go back if we are in a nearby town, even if we were not hiking.

If you haven’t been to Starved Rock lodge recently, now is the time to go. Not only have they named the restaurant but they have updated the menu to include an unique selection of food that is a joy to experience. The service was great and the food was excellent.
