This review is also for the Faudree location in Odessa, my husband and I went Friday and we both became I’ll, almost like«montazuma’s revenge» or when traveling overseas. Something is not right here, the food of course has so sorta bacteria, it wasn’t that good, and was way to expensive for eating mostly rice, vegetables and a little meat. After this experience and illnesses, we would never consider this restaurant for eating, perhaps for a drink.

This review is for the new location on Faudree Road(did not see a separate Unilocal entry for it) I overall did not enjoy the experience. The seating at tables consisted of two chairs and on the other side a bench seat which reminded me of a school bus seat… it was imitation leather and too low to the table to eat comfortably. The sushi rolls were good but I think things were too pricy to be a good value for your money.

I ordered some sushi to go. Two Rainbow Rolls, two Spider Rolls with a side of noodles. The Rainbow Rolls were not appetizing. They pour a dressing over the fish. The noodles tasted like Top Ramen and overcooked. And five items cost over $ 70. I was displeased!

Went there with a table of 6 and the waitress asked everyone of us if we wanted noodles or rice. The way she asked it made us all seem it came with the meal but they charged all 6 plates an extra $ 2.75. Charged another .50 for ranch on a salad witch was no big deal. As the cook was leaving I slid him a tip. When the waitress came and gave me the bill it had a $ 31.00 service charge on it! My bill was 217.45 not only did I not leave any extra tip(service Charge) they lost my business for good!

Good find in Odessa. Got in and out at lunch time. Service was quick and the food was quite good. Not very well advertised or marked from the road, but worth checking out.

I decided to go here even though it had some risky reviews. This is a full Japanese Steakhouse with the grill show. I’ve been too many of these Japanese steakhouses and found it on par with most of them. The prices are very good and the food was all very excellent. I looked at the sushi menu but did not see many people ordering it. It seemed like they were missing a lot of big staples of a Americanized sushi restaurant. All in all I had no problems with this restaurant and found it very good and will go back again.

The seating woman was so rude we walked out without trying the food. The grill was nearly empty and she insisted we be packed in next to others and refused to correct our situation.

Sashimi was less than average. Had to leave the hamachi as it tasted like Mackeral. Hated the fact that staff were cleaning and putting chairs on top of tables while restaurant was still open.

Stay away. I ordered sashimi to go. When I got home, more than half of it was brown. It literally made me sick. The rolls are pretty much all the same. They also seem pre-made and old. They were not fresh and the rice was cold. I’ve gotten sick both times I’ve had their fish. The habachi was extremely bland. My husband also ordered the most expensive steak. They gave it to someone else, and gave him the other persons crappy steak. He asked, and either they didn’t know what their food looks like or they were too lazy to fix it.

Thought Osakas was Japanese. Funny thing is there was not one Asian person working there. Apparently the owner is Mexican and so are the employees. Not that I’m racist but when I eat certain foods I expect them to be cooking it. Ordered Sushi. It was ok but I wouldn’t order again. The staff was friendly and the hibachi chef was fun and entertaining. The habachi food was fair. Place was packed. I like the one in Midland better. More fancy. Bar is bigger and has a sushi bar. If you have the time. Drive to Midland. Better experience

An amazing gem in a rough redneck place! Of all things, an excellent sushi restaurant in Odessa is the least I expected! Eat here and you won’t be disappointed!

This place can’t get it right. I ordered a sushi roll and when I got it, it was missing ingredients. I guess the sushi cooks can’t read their menu to understand what is in each of their rolls. Plus, I ordered the tigers eye roll… Beware it’s $ 12.95 and comes with 5 pieces and is simply a Philadelphia roll with jalapeños. It’s a fail. Furthermore the fish isn’t fresh. Their fish tastes flavorless as if it has been sitting in a fridge for a few days. The roll breaks apart almost immediately when it touches soy sauce. The calamari is like eating small tires– although it is nice and crunchy it is immensely chewy calamari inside.

For what this place is it’s good! It’s a hibachi grill & is pretty good quality. It is not authentic Japanese food but it’s a good combo of Japanese & American. I have never been disappointed by the main course or the entertainment though it’s sometimes a little cheesy. The salad & soup isn’t great quality but they are definitely filler for the primary draws. Because it’s one of my father-in-law’s favorite places, we come here whenever we’re in town. When we lived here it was much less frequent but still a treat & experience any time we came.

I thought this place was great for a sushi restaurant! If your spoiled rottin and think your royalty, I can see why you would complain. I feel this place had great service. Good sushi, and all around good atmosphere. I will go back.

Is not a very authentic japanese. The sushi tasted not so fresh. The grilled salmon n teriyaki chicken taste so like Chinese. But the most important is the rice is so hard n I’m sure they use it overnight which is intolerable for a Chinese like me. But for those who prefer visual the chef did some good show though.

Would not go back. I’m quite surprised that they nearly had a full house. I didn’t know anyone could mess up miso soup. Well, I guess they technically didn’t mess up the miso soup since the«miso soup» they served us was NOWAY in hell miso soup. To add to that, they told us that miso soup is drank from the bowl, which is fine and is drank from the bowl, but I’m used to using spoons… so I didn’t say anything and just requested a regular spoon. Sushi was… strange. The waitress got my orders wrong but even if she got it right, I don’t think the sushi would have tasted any better. The nigiri sushi was too thick. The spicy tuna maki rolls that my mom ordered had a salsa-resembling sauce/condiment on it to make it spicy… No, man. Just no. I also had their shrimp tempura, which was kind of bland. It came with two bowls of rice that were stacked on top of each other and made eating the rice difficult and awkward. I just took one bowl and transferred some rice into it to make eating it easier. The waitress did not offer us dessert either, which was fine, too, since I was reluctant to try anything else from them. I don’t know how the hibachi was but the chef’s performance was at least decent.

I wont recommend their sushi at all. Even their seaweed salad here was sad. The sushi at sushiya from the HEB is so much nicer. I would recommend the sushi there instead of at Osaka.
