Tried it cause of Groupon. I got the rack of ribs that were burned and the color green were drier than the Sahara. Only redeeming thing was the mac and cheese but how can you ruin that. I would give two stars but the staff was friendly. I recommend that you view your food before you leave the place because it’s only take out.

I only went because of a groupon and now I understand why they were on groupon. I ordered a quart of Mac and cheese, chicken breast meal, and ½ pound of pulled pork. 1. the Mac and cheese was really good, only positive part of my visit. and very cheap. 2. the chicken it’s self was bone dry and was so hard to eat. and for being a BBQ place, you’d think that they would cover the food in BBQ, but I was wrong. I can get this same meal at publix with more food and more side options for $ 2 less! 3. the pork seamed very small for $ 8. it was pork but not BBQ pork. which I still find odd since it’s a BBQ place. 4. they are only opened Thursday-Sunday. which is terrible for a business. 5. didn’t seem very clean looking from the outside in. 6. I wouldn’t go back again for anything other than Mac and cheese. unless you are starving and it’s a Friday night and you only have $ 11 to feed a family of 4, I wouldn’t recommend Freds!

First visit to Fred’s! Smelled good, ordered brisket with coleslaw and green beans. Didn’t bother to check my order until I got home which is my fault but they gave me pulled pork, how disappointing. Expect canned green beans and what possibly might be home made coleslaw. Definitely no Texas BBQ.

This by far the best BBQ around. A true family owned experience. Friendly people too — Fred gave my son a home made mini pumpkin pie while we waited for our order. Don’t miss out — do yourself a favor and try this place out. The ribs are heavenly(but so are everything really). Really a take-out only place so order and pick up on your drive home.

Have only tried Fred’s one time and purchased a whole chicken. The smoke flavor was amazing and the chicken is seasoned with large whole gloves of garlic and large sliced onions. The chicken could easily feed 4– we had 2 entire meals and the chicken cost $ 10.70 including tax! The BBQ sauce provided on the side was outstanding– smokey, tangy, and well-seasoned however I do not know if it’s made by Fred or is a commercial sauce. Either way, it was the perfect compliment. Fred’s is strictly take-out and they DO accept credit cards– I paid with my AMEX. Hope to try some of his other BBQ but will definitely get the chicken again.

We stopped by here wanting to try something different than the normal chain companies around us. We were not disappointed. The food was all very fresh and flavorful. Collectively, we had ribs, pulled pork sandwich, mac and cheese, and potato salad. The meats were cooked perfectly, and though the sandwich was a bit difficult to eat because the bun was moist from the pork juices and bbq sauce, it was still magic. I’m very picky about my potato salad and was blown away by how good this was! I will definitely be going back and trying some other things on their menu!

The portions are small but the food is done right. The pulled pork is awesome. His sauce that he uses it is not homemade, but it taste great for HIS style of BBQ. His potato salad is amazing. Not sure how he makes it, but its unique and is awesome. Giving 4 stars because like I said, the portions are a small but the taste is one of the better ones in Tampa.

This is a stationary food truck. Awesome take out barbecue. Better than any of the chain BBQ and old standbyes. Ribs are st Louis style and smoked to perfection. We also had the pulled pork and beans both great as well. The beef brisket was good but a little fatty for my taste. The cole slaw is bland and I would skip. Worth the trip, don’t let the location stop you.
